Response transmitter with bluetooth technology. Ar -3140 – Response fm bluetooth transmitter is fantastic. Hooked up to my radio straight away easy done. Works well with Samsung 23 Ultra. No headphone jack on this phone so I needed a bluetooth adapter. Great price. No static sound. Crisp...Drove on freeways and out near mountains on mid North coast. Was quiet amazed for the small amount I paid 24.95....Works well answering phone calls too. Will recommend it. Show details

Worked once – Used this transmitter a few times when I first bought it in January last year. Now nothing displays on the screen and USB ports are dead. Would not recommend this device.  Show details

Good Unit – Good little unit - easy setup, neat appearance & works well. Inexpensive solution for older cars/radios Much better than a cheapo item I had previously tried which had poor volume & static/break-through. As with any Bluetooth gear, the quality of the music transmission is limited a bit by the necessary data compression but the unit is still a… Read more

great solution at a minimal cost - Recommended.

As a general comment, this Response brand sold by Jaycar seems to be good quality & well priced gear. I have previously bought a GPS digital speed display (for my motorbike) - which also works brilliantly for not many $’s.

Horrible – Bought it today and will be returning. Set up was easy, Bluetooth works fine. But the USB part of it ... ugg. It skips, makes funny noises, horrible volume. Only one of the 2 USB ports work with the USB to play music. Have not tried it as a phone charger but not holding my breath. Show details

AR-3140 FM car transmitter – Bought one of these today from Jaycar, inserted a micro SD card in the slot at the bottom, had a cursory look at the instruction booklet to see if there were any features I didn't know about, started the car, tuned the frequency shown on the face of it to the one that I've used for every car MP3 player (88.4 FM works fine for me) I've ever had,… Read more

and away she went. Like the meerkat says, "Simples!" If all you're after is a basic, small, easy-to-use music player for the car, then you can't go past the AR-3140. Good volume range, fits well into the cigarette lighter plug on the dash, unobtrusive, small, neat and compact. One good point is that the card does not protrude from the unit, meaning the unit can be inserted or pulled out without fear of harming it in a tight space. Another one is that I can run a GPS unit from it via one of the plugs on the face, again without worrying about damaging the cable because of a tight squeeze anywhere. I'm not going to use it for answering phone calls via the Bluetooth capability. Completely satisfied!

An ideal phone and audio solution for older cars – We recently had to replace our older car due to an accident and the replacement does not have Bluetooth or even an aux port on the audio system, meaning we could no longer stream music over the car speakers. My initial thought was that I would need to buy one of the battery powered FM transmitters which plug into the phone's headphone jack - not… Read more

ideal but workable.

Enter the Response FM Transmitter with Bluetooth and USB (available from Jaycar for just $24.95). This tiny little unit provides all the connectivity you need to stream any smart phone with BT to an FM receiver with the additional benefit of also being powered from the car, providing two USB ports, hands-free phone functionality and even has a slot for a microSD card.

Using the unit is simplicity itself. Plug the unit into the cigarette lighter and it displays the FM frequency it is transmitting on (initially 88.2MHz). Next enable Bluetooth on your phone and pair with the device "Response AR-3140". Finally tune your car radio to the displayed FM frquency... and that's it, you can now stream audio from your phone over BT to your car's FM radio. The unit provides controls for next and previous tracks and for changing the volume (in addition to the phone and car controls).

For hands-free phone use, simply press the phone button on the device to receive a call - the button can also be used to reject a call, end a call and to redial the last number. The device uses the car's speakers and has a small microphone in to front for picking up speech. The phone can also be used to answer and make calls while connected, the device providing the typical phone and audio BT profile. The only downside I found was that my phone could not seem to hear my "answer call" and "reject call" hands-free commands when connected - I guess the microphone only functions in a call - but this is a minor detail.

In addition to the BT features, the device can also stream audio from a device connected to one of the two USB ports and from an inserted microSD card (up to 32Gb) - files on the card or USB key must be MP3 or WMA format. One USB port is a 2.1A charging port and the other a 0.5A music/charging port.

The unit comes with a simple but adequate instruction leaflet.

All up a brilliant little solution to a common problem in this fast moving technology world.

Edit: we have also bought the AR-3142 for our son's car - the design is different (control panel on a flexible neck) and it also provides for voice answering/rejecting of calls, but a great device as well.
