I had the car for the first year and a bit on my p-plates she was a tough car that never let me down loved it dearily til the crash
Purchased in December 2019 for $9,500.00.
Need my car
My ex is locked up with my car key and it's registered in his name but I bought it how do I get a new key or get it back to my home address
Reliable and comfortable
My Sep 2002 BA XT auto sedan was bought as a demo with 15000km on the clock. Fitted cruise control at purchase. Consider that essential for country cruising and to avoid speeding tickets around town. The 6 cylinder engine is smooth, powerful and is economical on the highway but thirsty around town. Fitted an aftermarket LPG to it in 2008 and that hasn't caused any engine problems. The handbrake stopped working not long after purchase, but since it is an auto and I never use the handbrake, I have never bothered getting it replaced. The car ...has otherwise been quite reliable, only in the last 2 years have I had to replace the sagging interior ceiling due to the foam backing deteriorating, and replace the power steering hose. The air con still works well and has never needed a regas. Still on the original muffler and exhaust pipe. The car only broke down once due to a spark plug inexplicably becoming loose, the mechanic said he had never heard of that happening to anyone else. Otherwise just normal wear and tear on the brakes and suspension. Almost up to 160,000km now and am planning to start using it to tow a 16ft caravan. Overall, having kept it properly serviced and driven sensibly, I am very happy with how it has performed and has stood the test of time. It still looks and drives almost as when it was new. I will be very sad indeed if I ever have to replace it many years still into the future.
Purchased in December 2003 for $29,000.00.
Had for over 7 years & aside from the odd issue still love it. Only things that have had to be replaced are drivers door handle, water pump because pulley came off, and new front shocks. Plus usual oil, brake pads & other consumables.
Bought used and put about 70k on it now approaching 160,000k.
For a tall person and family heaps of room and great on a trip.
Had both Commodore and Falcon (Aussie one) and loved them both, sadly miss the big Aussies
The Death of a Legend
Falcon's are more Australian than a Hills Hoist. The BA and BF were the last cars made in Australia, designed, and built in Australia. A quarter of a century after Holden sold out and became an American company (selling the same vehicles that sell in the US for $19,000 for $160,000 here) Ford kept chugging along, unfortunately because Holden's marketing team lied and pretended they were Aussie still people never really considered Ford Australian, but FoMoCoAu was as Aussie as it gets.
Purchased in September 2006 at Car City for $12,000.00.
After 5 years , still be strong , no sluggish
I bought the version 2 litre turbo in 2015. It still gives me a pleasure to drive around city or along coast without any problem. Hope the Falcon be back in the future

Wouldn't rather drive anything else.
I've owned a few Falcons now, and not once have I ever been disappointed
My BA's have been bullet proof and my current FG XR6 Turbo I cannot speak highly enough about.
On a highway trip to Launceston in hilly Tasmanja I averaged as low as 8.2 litres per 100km, that's better than what most can get from many 4 cylinder vehicles and 4X4 diesel utes, yet none even come close to the smooth, effortless and reliable power of the XR6 Turbo.
For a 9 year old car it virtually looks so modern no one believes me when I mention it's age, the interior is...still such a pleasant place to be with everything within reach with one of the most comfortable seats you'll find in a modern vehicle. I cannot believe how these vehicles have been replaced by inferior 4X4 dual cabs, which don't have the braking performance, handling performance and ride comfort of a Falcon.

Great car but problems starting to surface.
Have owned this car for 5 years and is my daily driver. A traction control fault has developed and stays on all the time now and my cruise control won't work. I have taken it to a Ford dealership and they have checked my wheel sensors and brake light switch which were all good but the problem has not been fixed. Don't know what to do now. In the last year I've had nothing but issues with this car which is a shame as it's great otherwise.
Purchased for $28,995.00.
Great engine and drivetrain, let down by poor build quality and interior.
First off, I'll start with the good things - great powerful engine (XR6 trim), and great 6 speed automatic transmission. Very spacious interior and huge boot, can fit 5 adults with ease, and all their luggage in the boot. It did use a fair bit of fuel when driven hard especially in the city, was good on the highway though.
Now the cons - poor build quality (few interior rattles) and electrical issues throughout.
In my time of owning the car (~2 years), I have had to replace all the window regulators, and have had a number of electrical issue...

A highly underrated car
I have a 2009 Falcon G6E which I bought in 2011. This car is mainly used for long distance driving as I have a work supplied car but can only use it for work. My G6E is in metallic burgundy or what Ford called "Seduce" and it certainly seduced me. My car has only got 80,000km on the odometer and yet at 11 years of age it's still rattle and squeak free. I drive it on bitumen and dirt roads and the dust sealing is as perfect as the day I bought it. The only problems I've had are the brake switch going faulty and the dual zone air conditioning blo...wing heat at the driver and cool at the passenger and yet both were set for the same temperature. That was fixed under warranty and has never failed again since. I too have fitted a separate auto transmission oil cooler as I don't trust the Ford method of cooling the transmission oil by routing it through the base of the radiator. My transmission oil goes now where near the radiator now. The car is fitted with the ZF 6HP 6 speed auto and gear changes are almost unnoticeable. The car has good power and excellent torque as previous Falcons had before it. The Falcon remains as far as I'm concerned a fantastic touring car and only very expensive large German cars would come close. I have the car serviced by a local independent mechanic after Ford serviced the car where it went in purring and came out coughing and spluttering. The G6E also came in turbo form but as far as I'm concerned it's not needed for only recently I overtook a road train or a semi with three trailers between Hillston and Cobar and I selected "power" and gave the car a boot full. It just blasted past like the semi was standing still. For me my FG G6E is a truly wonderful, powerful, safe, roomy, comfortable and economical for it's size car which for some reason Ford chose to hardly promote at all.

Cant be any better
Best car i have ever had by a mile. Engine and trans combo works a treat and the interior is nice too. Sync 2 is a great edition and challenges many supposedly high end luxury cars.

Boiling and spitting water out
I have a Ford falcon au1 xr6 Ute. At times it seems to boil over. Temperature gauge is sitting at 1/4. The radiator and pipes are only 6 years old, I just put a new water pump in thinking that was the issue. It doesn't do it all the time but mainly when it's been driven for a couple hours straight I'm about due just to scrap it
Purchased in August 2010 for $6,000.00.
Cheap and reliable.
Ba falcon xt. Owner for 13 years. 6 cylinder engine is very reliable but thirsty around town.Has plenty of power for overtaking or towing. Recommend a transmission cooler as the original cooler in the radiator have failed and if water gets into the transmission it's ruined. The ignition coils don't seem to last long. So if it runs rough, just replace all the coils. Transmission is a 4 speed auto. There is no dip stick to check the fluid level. Still do a fluid change even though they say it's sealed for the lifetime. Mine has 330,000km still ...okay. Diff no problem. Front wheel bearings replaced at 250,000km. Front disc do warp. Replace them with a good quality one. Hand brake is not good ,always needs adjusting. If power windows are slow ,spray with some silicone or wd40 .spray in the door grooves of the window. The central locking actuators always break because inside the gears are made of plastic. If you're mechanical. Rather than buying the whole new actuator $150 .You can buy just the plastic gear, usually comes with a motor from ebay for $20. Roof lining will sag. I replaced mine. Summing up. Not without its problems when getting old. But cheap to repair, compared to other cars.

Got a spare $500 then you got an AU. She will never let you down. I have owned 4 in total. Had one that o converted to manual and it was the best car i have owned to date. Nicer to drive than a manual fgx xr6 and oh did I give it 4 years of hell, not that an au cares how bad you treat it.
Purchased in August 2011 for $1,200.00.

The type of car I forgot existed
I bought a EL falcon sedan 96 some time ago with only 77K on it from a little old lady that bought it from new appreciating its condition. Its an additional car for our family and sits in the garage but don't I love driving it. We have a brand new transit van and Isuzu MUX but they have so many electrics that you use in them and mod cons to get from A to B but you don't appreciate the drive. In the time I have had the EL I have had to replace the head gasket thats common but if I had the chance to drive this car over the modern ones I would get rid of the new in an instant.
Oh my goodness
I don't have words to describe with car in a plesent manner.
I have had this car for almost 5 years now.
Purchased at 53,000 k And still kicking.
The amount of small things that continue to brake on this car is tramendence.
The window washers continue to not work, sensors continue to pop out, blue tooth disconnects, won't start when its too hot, passenger side window stopped working, my drivers side door handle just broke off, always has had some problem with starting, boot pistols stopped working, can not replace with a generic one.
LPSF sensor stopped working.
Purchased in October 2014 at Ford Dealers for $18,000.00.
Incredible car, built too last. Still looks new, serviced 10 times in 5 years, highly reccommend.

Great for commuting; with space whilst looking great. You won't spend a fortune servicing and the black leather interior/sport function is as powerful as you need for our roads. Very quick, only issue which is a known issue (tailshaft) goes at 90-110 thousand km, just had mune re-built and running a dream again. This car will sore in value and is not easy to find in 2019 already.

Ford Falcon XR6 -> Great choice for a 2nd hand car
The later Ford Falcons were an underrated car when they were released. Considering the ongoing costs, Falcons are a good option if you are hunting around for a 2nd hand car in the 7 to 10 year old category.
-> Grippy : good handling
-> Cheap parts. Front wheel bearings do tend to wear out and need replacing.
-> Cheap to run for the gas option (Eco LPi)
-> Good engine performance, no issue with the gas option
Handling could still be better compared to other cars but is still superior to the older Falcons. As long as you keep them serviced I Feel this is a fairly solid bet for 2nd hand car buyers.
