I had resisted buying these because of the price but I decided to use the $15 trial. It was easy to attach to my upper arm & shows no sign of coming unstuck. It seems to be very accurate (against a finger prick). However the app is incredible unreliable, I now make sure it's within 3 metres even at night & Bluetooth is always on but it often loses… Read more

connection. Also when I place the back of the (Samsung) phone it mostly does nothing or gives an error. On rare occasions it works. A long term user advised me to try "the other brand". I have though ordered a different brand that works out at half the cost.

These sensors are terrible inaccurate, expensive and fail at random. Since Christmas I have had four that have failed. I contacted Abbott to replace them as in Japan these are AUD$800 for two if they’re not covered by insurance. Because I didn’t keep the box, they refused to accept the screenshots of the errors and asked me three separate times… Read more

for serial numbers. The app only stores the last three so if you have more than three failures, or they don’t upload into the app, they refuse to help you. I’m beyond annoyed. The readings are also always ten to fifteen points under a manual glucose monitor so don’t waste your time.

This product is bad. It's sensor was terrible and showed lower results, resulting everyone believing it was low blood sugar, resulting taking lot of sugar drinks to bring level up. After panicking and visiting GP, when tested in lab, the reading was much higher. When I spoke to technical support, they refused to send me replacement or refund… Read more

The actual sensor is bulky. But that’s the least of the issues - the app looks like it was made by “beginners guide to coding” it is way too simple and doesn’t have enough information at hand for the price. Unless you scan every 5 minutes or look at the screen 24/7 it doesn’t actually make the numbers visible - you can’t go back and put your… Read more

finger on the graph to find out at 4am my GL were 8.8 - and a graph of 24 hours in one window that doesn’t change to landscape mode means everything is squashed together and the fat lines style on the graph means even trying to eyeball your number is impossible - this has to be THE worst CGM app ever made. If you want all the information you want or need head to SIBIONICS while their sensors are still pricey it gives you so much better quality information and control

Corrupt organisation. $15 trial at checkout and then they charge you behind the scenes the full price $102. I called them to cancel the order. They said they will just check if it hasn’t been dispatched yet. The lady said “sorry, it has already beeen dispatched”. 3 hours later I receive an email stating the order is “Ready” for dispatch. The companies lies to your face and charged an unauthorised transaction.

They now refused to answer my email questions as to why they lied about the dispatch and they refused to provide a copy of the voice recording which is illegal under the Privacy Act

Stay away from this company. They are corruot as it gets and they lie to your face.

Highly inaccurate readings, and terrible customer service – The product: I bought the Freestyle Libre 2 to gain a bigger picture of my blood glucose throughout the day & night. I expected a small amount of discrepancy between the finger pricking and the CGM. Unfortunately the product is so wildly inaccurate that it was essentially pointless. I was getting readings saying I was “low” when I was in fact on… Read more

the borderline of a high. There was often a 3 point (mmol/L) difference between the two! I stuck it out with the CGM for a week then removed it as it was pointless as it was always way off. My graph from the past 7 days from the CGM in no way correlates to reality from my finger pricking.

Customer service: To make matters worse, when I called the company to discuss the issue after 24h of use, they said they do not offer customer service to anyone without a letter from their diabetes practitioner. They were more than happy to sell me the product without any such letter. This definitely violates Australian Consumer Law for refund of faulty product. I was not seeking medical advice from them, just support regarding a faulty product. I would never consider using FSL again.

Great Product BUT! – It monitors blood glucose in real time and that is great especially for Max, our puppy who is diabetic with an erratic glucose pattern. Five visits to the emergency hospital, using up all our Woolworths Insurance for the year, we prevented another five visits even Max dying by using the Freestyle Libre 2. So, it is a life saver! Our Vet has… Read more

access to the automatic daily uploads from our Galaxy and Iphone and consults us on how to progress with Maxes wildly varying Glucose levels when insulin and food is precisely dosed and regularly given. It is essential for us to receive this guidance to keep Maxi alive.

Except, the date is not uploading and there is no setting or switch, or anything that we can discover in the app to get it going again! So we contact the Customer Help and seriously, they are either incompetent, unwilling, or just plain belligerent.

Yes, Freestyle Libre is for humans not animals, but I am not rasinging an issue other than the upload from my phone to the WEB site. The Datae in not uploading and the 'help' people refuse to help because I am using the sensor in a dog.

REALLY?

They do not want to help fixing my upload because it is not a human life on the line????

REALLY?

The sensors, which a set to expire after EXACTLY 14 days, even if they still work, are expensive at $90 a pop. But like ink cartridges a few years back when manufacturers inbuilt a print limit, Freestyle Libre does the same. So, $90 times 52 weeks a year that is over $4,500 and for that, we cannot get simple help? And be careful of their multiple disclaimers and fine print! Hopefully, more product come on line soon liked the Dexcom G6 and offer a viable alternative to those who the Freestyle Libre people consider not worthy to help

This product is rubbish and as a medical device should be banned. The sensor drops out frequently and is very difficult to reconnect. The peak readings are up to 2 mmol/L below the values returned by a pin prick after meals. Overnight multiple hypoglycaemic readings when pin pricks during the night always show above 5 mmol/L. Show details

Dear Tech Team, I am writing to request an essential feature for the Freestyle Libre 2 Plus follower app: displaying the remaining time for the sensor's usability. As a subscriber for my 72-year-old mother, who depends on the Libre 2 Plus to manage her fluctuating blood sugar levels, I deeply value your product’s reliability. Despite other… Read more

options claiming superior accuracy, we remain loyal to Libre 2 Plus and have used it for some time. However, as I do not live with my mother, managing sensor replacements is challenging. The follower app currently does not indicate when the sensor is nearing expiration. My mother, who has poor vision, memory issues, and limited tech proficiency, cannot track this information herself.

This creates significant difficulties, as I work shifts and often cannot replace the sensor immediately when it expires. This results in gaps in monitoring, which is concerning given the risk of undetected low/high blood sugar levels. Adding a feature to display the sensor’s remaining time on the follower app would allow me to plan replacements proactively, ensuring continuous monitoring before my shifts begin.

Thank you for considering this improvement to support users like my mother and caregivers like me.

Sincerely,

Abhishek S.

I have been using the Libre 2 sensor for the past 10 weeks, but my recent experience has been extremely frustrating. Yesterday, I applied a new sensor on my left arm at 9 PM, but by midnight, it failed and kept asking me to rescan. I tried three times, but it didn’t work. The worst part? It stopped working when my glucose reading was at 2.9… Read more

(dangerously low), putting me at serious risk. After an hour, it started working again, but then failed completely and now asks for replacement. This is unacceptable for a medical device that’s supposed to help manage diabetes. What’s even more disappointing is customer service’s response. When I called for a replacement, they refused, claiming my Samsung Galaxy A73 (5G) is not compatible. Strangely, their list includes older 3G Samsung models but not newer 5G phones. When I initially subscribed, I called customer care multiple times, and they never once asked about my phone compatibility. Now, after spending money and relying on the product, they tell me my phone isn’t supported? How can a billion-dollar company like Abbott not ensure compatibility with modern smartphones? If they market this product through diabetes educators and endocrinologists, they should clearly inform users about compatibility issues beforehand—not leave them stranded after purchase. Additionally, my diabetes educator trained me three times on proper sensor application and even recommended a transparent bandage for extra support. Yet, the sensor failed within 15 hours. Now, Abbott expects me to carry their separate scanner instead of using my phone—this is not practical in 2024! Extremely disappointed with the unreliable performance, poor customer support, and lack of transparency. Abbott needs to improve sensor durability, compatibility, and honesty with users. Right now, I cannot trust this device with my health. ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5) – Needs major improvements!

Not perfect but worthwhile – I have been using these constantly for over a year now for my type 2 diabetes. They are much better than finger pricks and have made it much easier to control my bsl. Some general feedback: Mine only come off early when I catch them on a door frame etc maybe once every 3 months on average. So not often but still it’s $100 gone each time. I… Read more

regularly get sensors that stop working after only a few days. Most of the time I ring Abbott and they send me out a new one for free. Sometimes I couldn’t be bothered calling because they ask for a lot of information and ask you to send them back the old one which is time consuming. But every time I do they send a free replacement.

The sensors are not 100% accurate. I have checked mine against two different finger prick tests many times and the sensor is always a bit lower than the finger prick test. Sometimes my sensor says 6.0 and the finger prick tests are 7.0 sometimes the difference isn’t as big but it’s always a bit lower. The difference is much more pronounced in some sensors.

When I’m inactive (laying in bed) the sensor reads lower than when I’m up and moving about. I think maybe because the fluid in my arm it’s reading from is not circulating around as much? (That’s just my uneducated guess as to why it happens but either way it definitely happens, it’s been that way consistently for the whole time I’ve used them which is over 12 months). My reading will often drop to 4.0 or 4.5 when I’m laying down but will increase to 6.5 when I’ve been standing up for a while.

If I lay on the side where the sensor is it drops very low and will set off the alarm after a while I.e. it drops below 3.3 even though it’s actually 5.5 or 5.0. Bit of a pain when it’s in the middle of the night and wakes you up. If I lay directly on the sensor it will drop extremely low (below 2.0 where it stops giving you a number and just says “LOW”) even when it’s actually 4.5 according to a finger prick.

Despite these faults I still subscribe and get two,new ones every month. They play a big part of me successfully keeping an A1C level of 5.5. Before these it was up over 13 and worse. Just have to keep in mind that it’s not completely accurate and when you get unusual readings, verify them before acting on it because it’s probably wrong.

It’s very expensive for type 2 because they are not subsidised like they are for type 1. Obviously that’s an issue for the federal government not Abbott but I wish the government would include type 2 in the funding. Maybe at least when a Dr indicates close monitoring is reasonably necessary.

I have been using the sensors for over 1 year & I love not having to do finger pricks but reliability of the sensor is a definite issue. The sensor stops working if I do any manual labour. It seems vibration or sweating causes the sensor to malfunction. This is extremely frustrating as these are the times that I need constant monitoring.

Potentially DANGEROUS – I have been using the FreeStyle Libre 2 CGM since October 2023 and therefore familiar with its use and, generally speaking, I have found the sensors to be a useful tool in monitoring and managing one's diabetes and ongoing treatment. That said, however, the sensors are not perfect and when they are not reading one's glucose level accurately, they… Read more

are not merely not to be relied upon but potentially detremental to health and safety. Below I summarise a recent experience. Note that I intend to continue to use the sensors, but their use must be made in conjunction with ongoing blood glucose testing by tradition methods. One cannot just "set and forget". Sensor started on Tuesday 28/01 - initially appeared accurate and did not do Blood Glucose test. Over time, Sensor appeared to be reading significantly low, so started taking Blood Glucuse test readings on 31/01. 9:21am - BGL 6.4, Sensor 4.5 (1.9 variance), arrow steady. 10 minutes - Sensor 4.1 (2.3 variance), arrow steady. 11:03am - BGL 12.4, Sensor 9.2 (3.2 variance), arrow steady. 5 minutes - Sensor 8.7 (3.7 variance, arrow steady. 11:22am - BGL 9.9, Sensor 7.1 (2.8 variance), arrow angle down. 5 minutes - Sensor 5.7 (4.2 variance, arrow straight down. 11:53am - BGL 7.9, Sensor 6.1 (1.8 variance), arrow steady. 5 minutes - Sensor 5.3 (2.6 variance), arrow steady. Called ABBOTT Customer service who responded that while they would replace Sensor, according to their calculator the performance WAS WITHIN ACCEPTABLE RANGE! The degree of variance from Blood Glucose test readings renders the Sensor not just unreliable, but potentially dangerous to the user and the public if, for example, one were to rely upon the Sensor reading to determine if it is safe to operate a motor vehicle or to guage the amount of insulin the user requires. When the Sensors work within advertised variance (0.5 or so), or when the variance is large but relatively consistent, the Senors are a useful tool. But when the variance exceeds 4.0 in one reading and 2.6 the next, the Sensor reading is worse than useless, it is dangerous. Most the time the Sensors are relatively useful, but Abbott needs to acknowledge their technology is not medically reliable, which could lead to harm to the user and the public.

Even after pointing out to them the Consumer protection laws, they maintained their position. But here is the kicker... Australia's finest consumer watchdog, the Office of Fair Trading, again proved absent at the wheel! A total waste of time and effort, but that is another story. We have consumer protections, but no efficient way to use them without the need to go through QCAT, waste 20+ months waiting for a decision, and lodgement of the claim costs more than the device.
