Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C5005 D
1 review
An excellent office printer – I went searching for reviews of this printer when I was shopping around for a good high performance office printer that can handle a wide variety of stock and paper sizes. We had another small Xerox which has been great, as well as an OKI A3 printer that I wasn't happy with at all. Given the great experience with the Xerox I ended up buying the… Read more
C5005 in combination with the floor standing 3-drawer unit and the C1 finisher. A word of caution to those considering this combo, in order to get the C1 finisher to work with the printer you also need to buy the hard-drive extension kit which adds about another $500-$700. This was about the only downside of the purchase since it's only mentioned in fine print and the fact that it's just a blatant rip-off for what is a standard small capacity Western Digital drive.
Depending on how/where you buy the printer from, the next challenge you may face is installation. Instructions are only available for the printer, the paper tray unit, and the hard-drive - but not for the finisher unit, which is a considerable piece of hardware. I can appreciate that normally a Xerox tech would install the whole printer but since you can buy this equipment from just about any vendor, that type of service should not be taken for granted. In any case, questions regarding the install were very well handled through the Xerox sales support contacts were were provided.
Several months on now, I couldn't be happier with the performance of this printer. It's quiet and absolutely flies through anything we've so far managed to throw at it. At full speed it throws out nearly a page a second. The booklet finisher is a nice addition with staple, hole punch and folding. A slight criticism is that certain paper selections in the driver mean that particular features turn off on the C1. For example you cannot print on glossy paper and still have booklet option. You will find workarounds for most of these quirks though. There are simply too many options and configuration settings to mention here, but you can configure this printer in a huge variety of ways. A nice feature which I didn't count on was that you can email the printer directly and have it print things - which is very handy when you're not connected to your LAN and need to send something to your office printer. Paper handling is superb - we regularly print SRA3 size paper which allows us to do full bleed A3 as well as card stock.
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking at an A3+ size color laser. Everything! An awesome unit. Some user documentation is lacking
