Excellent device – Got it originally from Officeworks and had it for a few years now. did a lot of printing even on compatible toners had no issues whatsoever. Wifi connection is surprisingly stable in this device I mean it doesn't ever disconnect and reconnects automatically when u reboot the router. Feeder Scanning via wifi is a breeze. Very reliable device overall. Show details
wifi always disconnect – Before I updated firmware to Version L, this printer always lost wifi signal. After I updated the firmware, the printer not only continued to lose wifi, but also always fell into deep, deep, deep and deep, deep and deep sleep mode. NEVER buy this brand printer. Hardware is fine but software is terrible.
Connection fail always – In regarding to network connection it's the worse printer ever. Every time turn it off I need to reset the network configuration and re-enter the password again.. pluse struggling to let other devices find it . It's just a waste of money and time buying this printer Show details
Great machine :-) – Print quality is excellent, even works with Ebay generic cartridges!!! Easy to connect if you download the software from the website. Just works, no non-sense printer, no paper jams heaps efficient and cheaper than an inkjet My earlier inkjet printer was nasty, highly recommend switching to laser jet.
Works well after compatibility issues – Had compatibility issues with Windows 10 Home. After installation of driver, print jobs work fine but nothing else. There's errors popping up throughout installation. After upgrading to Windows 10 Pro, everything works. This printer does the job pretty well. ID scan is a bonus without the need to merge pdf's after scanning. Print quality is… Read more
comparable to my Brother HL-2142 so pretty happy so far. Their interface, albeit looking a little dated, is straightforward and easy to work with even for my partner who is not good with computers.
Excellent machine – I bought this machine a couple of months ago because I got sick of battling my inkjet printer to accept fake inks. I was just over it, so I decided to buy this Fuji scanner printer. I've been printing like mad and I have found that the claim of 1200 pages from their ink is bogus. I got 800 pages. BUT I was able to purchase alternative laser… Read more
toner at a vastly cheaper price, online, which was accepted by the machine, with no problems whatsoever. No chip (yay!). With paper included and super cheap toner, I've got the price down to 2 cents per page. The scanner and printer works well and does all that it says on the tin.
A couple of times the wireless has disconnected but I just reconnect through the printer (to the modem router) and we're back in business.
Besides that, I consider myself fortunate in choosing this Fuji printer and can reload it with alternative laser cartridges. Freeeedom!
Very good Laser printer with copy, scan and print functions – Very good print quality. Copy function and wireless/LAN printing are great. After more than 1 year of use, i found that if the wireless router is down, the scanning software in your PC stopped responding and you will need to reinstall the software again and again. Setup the wireless can be a nightmare from the Disc provided, i usually just do it… Read more
straight on the machine because it's quicker. When the scanner works, it's pretty quick and good quality.
After recent firmware, it's now a 5 star Printer – I absolutely Loved this printer when I purchased it back on June 2016. I was glad to have ditched inkjet printing costs. It seemed everything was going so well with this until lately. Since purchasing, there have been numerous firmware updates from my router manufacturer and an update from Fuji for this printer. Recently the wireless… Read more
connectivity drops out in 'deep sleep' mode and the only way to print is to reboot my router each time. This happens with Windows PC and our various iOS devices requiring AirPrint to be available. I have struggled to fact find the issue with countless factory resets on almost every device. All fixes normally hang on for a few hours - sometimes up to 24 hours but then when I check back via iOS or PC, the connection has dropped and I have to reboot my router to wake up the printer. I have just performed the latest attempt requiring logging into printer settings via IP address and switching off "APIPA" settings. Time will tell. Are there better wifi laser printers out there? I don't think Brother lasers are the answer as the software on Fuji looks suspiciously the same so one of them looks like they are re-badging the other.
If no solution found, I think I will ditch this printer once I have used up my toner stock.
Edit: 2021 I realised there was a new firmware available. Updated and Boom!!! All problems solved. This is an amazing 5 star printer. Pity it's no longer available. I will definitely not get rid of this.
Does everything perfectly! – First of all, I'm a student and I am a lazy student. I want to print double sized but without flipping the papers manually. This printer does just that, and it's a laser mono printer, meaning the ink lasts longer and is much cheaper than ink jets. (generic ink from ebay works too!). Plus, the scanner works well and thats a bonus. I've been… Read more
using it for 2 years and I couldn't be happier. Oh and it works over wi-fi too! Perfect!
Don't forget to pricematch at officeworks!
Awesome cheap bw laser printer – This printer has very cheap ink making it very affordable. Setup was a breeze for me and having be wifi makes it very easy to install. I like its sleep mode so it doesnt just waste energy doing nothing when its not printing. It does what its suppose to do very well. Show details
OK hardware but very poor software install – Light duty plasticky casework, limited LCD panel and paper handling is par for the course in this budget price range. Hardware acceptable (ie: printing/copying) however Out Of The Box software install with supplied DVD is very poor. Difficult to establish network connectivity (LAN or WLAN) and ControlCenter4 scanner utility fails to load despite… Read more
multiple install attempts including >3 hours with Fuji Xerox telephone support (outsourced overseas 3rd party). Manufacturer website support is very basic and no more useful than for software download or RTFM. I hail from a PC career so cannot recommend this MFD for novices with limited IT literacy unless purchasing from a full service outlet or willing to invest considerable time on telephone support. Final outcome we had to disable firewall (not good for online security) and use generic Windows Fax and Scan utility.
Pros:
Relatively cheap upfront purchase
Basic but acceptable hardware engine
Lower laser toner running costs than inkjet
Cons:
Poor software install wizard
Website is not user friendly, lacks depth and no AI troubleshooter
Outsourced telephone support is courteous and polite however not especially talented or experienced
Disabling firewall to enable scanning leaves computer system vulnerable to attack
Couldn't Scan to PC – Well the M225dw prints. But I bought this to scan as well. The copy function worked too. But for some reason, (possible outdated device drivers - even though I downloaded the latest software from their website), I could not get the PC to detect the scanner and vice versa. One hour later on the help line shed no further light on the matter and so I… Read more
decided to simply return it.
I've bought a Brother since (L2703) which appears, apart from the fax function and control panel, to be virtually identical to the Fuji printer in every respect. The Brother printer uses exactly the same software to scan but this time it works. So I can only conclude that there is some problem with the Fuji Xerox device drivers that prevented me from using the scanning function.
Maybe it's an incompatibility issue with windows 10, who knows, but I wouldn't recommend this printer to anyone unless you want to waste hours on a help line.
