Great printer but – There is no doubt the 8560 is a great printer, the quality for the price point is superb, really good. The solid ink cubes are great, they take up hardly any space and are environmentally much better than laser. However, this is a printer for a regular daily user, not an office that uses it occasionally, like me. If you Google you will see there… Read more

are several common complaints re solid ink printers;

1. They need to be used regularly or you have problems

2. Start up costs - you don't want to be switching these on and off, they stay on to keep the ink warm. Each time they start up they use about $10-$20 worth of ink, depends who you talk to, it's a lot anyway.

3. Reliability seems to be questionable.

4. With the scanner model the scanners always play up - avoid them

4. Ink cost is way too high, way too high - the later models have larger and cheaper ink blocks.

We had a machine for about 14 months, only used it occasionally for volume prints and then it packed up with very few total prints on it, very disappointing. Even people who ditch their printers still love the solid ink concept but Xerox need to get the reliability and price sharper if it is going to impact the printing market.

Having said all that, if you need a high quality printer and are printing regularly, eg several times a week, this printer will do a great job. Make sure you get a service contract though otherwise you will be a hater not a lover of the 8560. Awesome quality, ink blocks are compact so take up little space Awesome quality, ink blocks are compact so take up little space

Great printer shame about reliability – This was at the time a big investment after going through lasers we purchased this unit on the grounds of reliability and cost. Within a week the unit broke down fuji quickly serviced the unit but did not build my confidence in the product. 2 years later unit has broken down again just outside the extended warranty, Fuji have not been helpful at… Read more

all. We are up for a new part that costs about 600 dollars and 200 dollars for the service operator to come out and fix it.

Don't by this machine Poor service and very unreliable for price Excellent print quality unreliable

Excellent – This is a fantastic printer. The image quality is really good, as long as you've got decent source material. If you are printing a garbage image, expect this printer to show the garbage. I found that with the solid inks I did have to slightly turn down the heat setting on the office laminator when laminating documents from this printer,… Read more

otherwise the ink tended to bleed through the page a bit.

Physical installation of the printer was quite simple. A second person to assist with placement of the printer is handy. The software/driver installation was quite simple and nearly automatic for most of our office PCs.

The speed on the printer is really good. I work in a small office and this printer is installed on the opposite side of the building to my office, and for most documents after I click on "Print" the document is printed by the time I get to the printer. The only time I've seen it slow is when it is processing a large image, or the printer has cooled down.

It's best not to move this printer until it has cooled down completely. The ink inside although solid when you deposit it into the printer, is liquid when the printer is warmed up and operating. If you move it while the printer is warm, the liquid ink inside can spillover into areas it shouldn't be in... causing catastrophic damage. I've heard anecdotal stories that if this happens it is not economically viable to have the printer repaired (cheaper to purchase a new printer).

Oh and one of the coolest things about this printer is how it sounds when printing. I suspect the sound it makes may be where the "Phaser" range's name was inspired from. Fantastic quality, high speed, less environmental impact than lasers Haven't found a con yet.
