GE Capital

GE Capital (Apple). Do Not Be Tempted – I had a bitter experience with GE Capital that would prevent me from ever dealing with them again. I paid into my zero-balance account more than $3000.00 by mistake. I rang, emailed and wrote them to have the mistake rectified. After a month of waiting, I rang them twice a week and talked to a call center somewhere outside Australia. And… Read more
every time I rang, they would promise me that the money would be in my account THAT Friday. Of course come Friday there would be no money in my account. And this scenario went on for several weeks. To add insult, I was sent a statement showing the money has been credited back to my original account which of course was not true at the time.
Out of frustration, I rang the ombudsman. There and only there that I got the proper GE complaint phone number from. And it took less than 2 days from the day I rang to have my money back into my account. TWO DAYS AFTER WASTING MORE THAN TWO MONTHS RINGING THE PHONE NUMBER GE PROVIDES AT THE BACK OF THEIR CARDS.
GE Capital Credit Card is quite tempting. Specially when they offer "interest-free" promotions on Apple products. (Honestly I don't understand why Apple allows themselves to be associated with GE Capital). What is not very visible is the fact that they charge you $4.95 while you have a balance; aside from charging an astounding interest rate once the interest-free period has lapsed and still have an outstanding balance.
And if for whatever reasons, you're still tempted to get one and eventually have an issue to resolve with them, DO NOT waste even more than 2 weeks ringing their customer service phone number. RING THE OMBUDSMAN. They would give you the proper phone number to ring.
Would you believe it? – GE Capital Finance Australia cannot arrange the simple delivery of a replacement credit card for an account in good order. After a month of put-offs, delays, “mis-understandings” and delays, GE still cannot complete this simple task. Why? Because there is no one in charge, the “buck” just floats around and stops with no one. If GE cannot… Read more
complete such a simple task it would be madness to trust your company to their lack of care.
Latest excuse, the card company ran out of plastic.
