Hi Martyn, Cool display indicates that the unit is in standby or cooling mode before steaming begins. This appears when the appliance is powered on but not yet heating water or after steaming has finished and the system is cooling down. The George Foreman GF3TS has not been available in Australia for some time.

HOW DO YOU GET IT TO WORK?
Fill the lower part with water up to the level marker & then turn the dial to what ever time you want it on for after you have put your food into the containers
Is it still safe to use the GF food steamer as the heating element, which is grey, is flaking and you can see and feel the black area under it? Thank you for your help.
Hi there my GF steamer is out of warrently and it wont; turn on. It is completely dead. No "red" on light or anything. Is there a hard "reset" that I can do to get it functioning again?
I am looking for instruction manual

Yes, things like potatoes in the bottom

If you don't need to use all of the baskets just use as many as you need & put the things that would take the longest to cook through in the bottom one & the quickest things to cook in the next one up.
What anoy me is l can get the timer off and l can't use the machine it's crap
I haven't had any problem with the steamer at al & I really don't understand what your problem is. If you want to turn it off before the timer goes off simply turn it off at the power point.
I'd like a recipe book for a George Foreman Model GF3TS - Have instructions but seem to have lost the other.
Any ideas where else to look for recipes and length of time to stem for rice and vegies?

I'm sorry I've got no idea as I haven't got a George Foreman
Can I use it to sprout beans, e.g. for salads?
I'm sorry, but I have got no idea about using it for that
Just received a used gf3ts with no instructions what is the process to use it?
Fill the trays with vege/ any other food to be steamed. Put the heavy one at the bottom and lighter one (eg: cauliflower) at the top. Fill the base with water up to the maximum level. Fit all the trays and switch on the plug. Use + or - buttons to change the timer. That's it! The steamer will stop by the configured time.
If you click on this link it's the instruction manual for it.

I've used my george Foreman steamer only occasionally since I was gifted it about 7 years ago and found it great. However, today, after being in the cupboard for a while I can't get it to work! When I turn it on the clock shows up and works fine, BUT I can't get any of the buttons to work! I've tried everything and I've given up! Any ideas? I don't feel confident to pull it apart and it's never been dropped, put in water etc!
Gosh Deanne I have no idea how to remedy the problem for you. Sorry.
Hello Deanne, I have no technical knowledge or understanding of its mechanism and there could so may reasons it does not work, i.e. exposure to extreme temperatures-depending on where you live- humidity or dry atmosphere etc. some of its own elements getting rusty or stuck and so on.
If I were in your place I would do either of the two things:
1- Google 'George Foreman" and contact the company, they are better to deal with the problem
2- I would give it up and buy a better Brand and Model ( my preferred option, Lol!)
because a) something that already does not work will let you down shortly again, it is unreliable at this stage
and b) generally speaking they do not seem to last longer than a year. From your story I am guessing it sounds so whether they are used or not once out of their box.
Thanks everyone. I think I'll just give up, as you say, it's had a good run! I don't use it that much so maybe won't miss it....fingers crossed!
my GF has been so handy, but the last time I used it I left the top on for some time, after the timer went off.I think the steam must get to the element and stop it from working.Suppose a replacement is not possible Tess

I would like to know if the plastic contains bpa and if steaming with a product made like this is a health issue? i've been give the george foreman steamer GF3TSM.
Hello JBRI The George Foreman Steamer is BPA Free – could not find any reference in the manual but there is a Big ‘BPA Free‘ sign on the Box. Regarding BPA and the products and ways to avoid exposure to, i found some info in these links:

can you steam fish in the plain white rice dish
The short answer is Yes. The longest measurement is about 16.3cm and the widest about 14.8 (tapering to slightly over 9cm towards the ends). You may or may not have to cut the fish/fish fillet into suitable sizes. But as I have mentioned to another reader earlier, using plastic containers is not recommended. You could shop around for a suitable ceramic, glass or enamel container that could sit comfortably in and will be eminently more healthy for cooking. The search could be fun too, relivening your hunter-gatherer instinct! But be careful with heavier containers with heavy contents, because the lugs in the removable separators are not too robust. In fact, one of mine has broken with normal use. I have since used a Kambrook KFS300 Essentials Food Steamer as a direct replacement. See my review on this other steamer.
Other steamers advertise a separate rice bowl. Does this steamer have one and is it bpa free? Cheers
Yes, sort of oval deep tray, but I think you can use your own ceramic, glass, etc container for that purpose. No info from the box on whether it is bpa free. Most such steamers are probably not. All plastics are suspect even if bpa free and hence the disclaimer/exclusion clause in my original review. Have since tried another brand with a manual timer (parts of the LCD display digits in my Foreman had gone askew--have to use a kitchen timer or two during cooking), which smells horribly plastic when first fired up. Forgot if the Foreman did the same, but it is now relatively odour free.
