GO MasterCard

I used to have a GO Mastercard for probably 15 years. The last purchase I had on my $2000 limit was a new phone. I made the payments on time and paid it out having a nil balance owing. There was always a small admin fee each month previously being charged. Then one day I had a reminder notice sent to me. When I questioned this I was informed… Read more
that Latitude had implemented a $10.95 fee each month whether you had anything owing or like me, a nil balance. There ended up being 3 months worth of fees totalling $32.85.
I complained and they removed the fees and I closed my account.
Recently I found that my credit file was affected by this and showed I had two months where I hadn't paid. I now need to dispute this listing on my file.
To be honest you'd probably be better using another payment option that did charge interest as it would work out cheaper than using this 'no interest' account.
Easy to use of course but be careful if you have more than one payment plan. They don’t share your repayments across plans as needed to pay off plan in time agreed so you can end up paying off a plan that has 3 years left but have one ending in one month with half the outstanding balance left. Customer service is atrocious. Closing this account and wouldn’t recommend t it to anyone. High interest charges and monthly fee. Show details
I’m about to make my fifth call to get the extra money I paid when I finalised my payments and closed the account. I accidentally transferred too much and am now struggling to get it back into my account. Every call I’ve made they say it’s being processed but I still have not received my money back. Show details

Lies, lies, all lies! – We recently made a large purchase at Harvey Norman. We were about to pay with our usual credit card when the sales person pointed to your banner about a voucher if you spend above $10 000. So we put down a deposit and applied for the Latitude credit card. We applied on 12 July. Their representative called 13 July and asked a lot of verification… Read more
questions as well as for copies of income. We sent this 14 July. Then no response. They said there were lots of applications and it was taking a while. Nothing like the quick turnaround times they advertised. After I had emailed a few times I received a call from Latitude on 26 July. Then they called back that day and asked all the same questions again. After another 20 minutes I was asked to do a face verification. I did that on the 26th and the application was approved later on the 26th. When we arrived at Harvey Norman the next day we were told the offer was no longer active and to call Latitude as we purchased within the offer time but Latitude took unusually long to approve it. I called but the call center agent was unable to help and the agent’s manager was also not interested. In my frustration I replied that if this is the case we won’t be using Latitude and to close the account. As soon as we put the phone down, another Harvey Norman sales person returned and said he spoke to the manager who said that we are still eligible for the offer and that he would arrange it. But we had just closed the account so now this was no longer possible. Naturally we are very frustrated at the slow response from Latitude, the poor advice from the first Harvey Norman sales person and the lack of assistance from the call centre and entire waste of time and effort all-round, but MOST OF ALL the slow response from Latitude in the first place, who cost you a customer (with lots more to spend on in the near future) and us a $1000 Harvey Norman voucher. Now I see the “special offer” is on again. Don’t believe any of it. It’s just a sales gimmick to get you to sign up for the card with NO benefit. I logged a complaint. They said they’ll take 30 days to respond.
Utterly incompetent or deliberately fraudulent? You decide – Pros: * Umm... it's easy enough to sign up at Harvey Norman (no surprises there). Cons: * Literally everything else. This isn't an exaggeration. Sneaky fees, completely unreliable app, random refused payments, utterly useless telephone service that fails to deliver on even basic promises, practically zero communication (and absolutely zero… Read more
compensation) for the data breach, seemingly impossible to actually cancel.
Bottom Line: Avoid like the plague. Use a regular credit card from your bank or a Pay-in-4 type service. Or better yet, be old fashioned and just save up (don't spend money you don't have).

Reading through these comments it appears my experience has been far from unusual. Beyond the extortionate monthly fees (that go up randomly without warning), the reliability of their app is beyond a joke, always failing to make payments. I'd end up using BPAY and coping a extra fee for doing so.
On the rare times payments would go through, I had no less than four occasions where the payment was magically reversed at some point. God knows why (funds were in the bank account at the time, obviously) and no explanation nor warning was given. On two occasions I didn't realise this and copped an insane $35 late fee. Spent nearly an hour on the phone with a borderline unprofessional individual explaining the situation and demanding the charges be removed due to it being their system's fault... eventually he said he would, but according to my records, the $70 was never credited back to my account.
The data breach in of itself was bad enough, but their handling has been basically non-existent. I got one letter (two months later) which said less than the media reports. No details of what personal info of mine may have been stolen and absolutely no compensation etc. offered. They've just washed their hands of the matter.
The final kick has been trying to close my account. After paying out the remaining balance (via BPAY, because the app isn't working... again) a couple of days ago, I've had over a dozen failed attempts to close my account from the app. I'm not normally a conspiracy nut but I swear, it almost feels deliberate. Because they know the last thing anyone wants to do is waste more time on the phone trying to deal with their Customer "Service".
Just avoid any Latitude product. "Interest Free" for them is all about customer service, nothing to do with how much the credit will end up costing you. Grandpa was right about buying stuff only with the money in your pocket, but if you're in a bind etc. and need credit, there are genuinely better options out there.
Dodgy 6 month interest free – Their 6-Month interest free is dodgy and if you have 2 sets of 6 Months interest free say for April-May and May-June and if you make a payment toward them they don’t allocate the money you paid equally or even they don’t allow you to choose how much you want to pay for each set! I’ve made a $800 toward my $1100 (6 m interest free) and the $3200… Read more
(6 m interest free) ! It should be allocated toward both of them!!! BUT the whole amount went toward my $1100 set! Which extremely annoying. They are making sure you end up paying interest on your accounts!!! They do their best to make you pay interest on your accounts! Soooooo dodgy!!! Zero customer service!!! Zero integrity
Absolutely appalling interest rate of 29.5 percent ! Avoid at all costs – Terrible experience. Terrible customer service. Currently trying to transfer to another card by any means necessary. 29.5% interest is almost illegal. Show details

A guilt free credit card – I've been asked to be objective...so I am saying that I am very happy with my Go card.....The security is responsible and I also know they monitor my spending and if anything looks a little iffy they contact me. I really do think that this is my guilt free card. It is there when I need it but does not invade my life.... Show details
Good for interest free purchases – Although it’s a general credit card, I wouldn’t use it for everyday purchases. If you have interest free purchases you need to make sure you pay off daily purchases within the 55 days, otherwise you’ll incur a hefty 23% interest rate. I agree the monthly fee is too much and increased from $5.95 to $8.95 a few years ago. That’s a 50% increase in… Read more
fees. I personally have never had to call the customer service line as the new latitude app seems to work well. You are emailed prior to payment due date. The bank transfer payment facility is okay and shows as an immediate pending payment, however, funds aren’t deducted from your bank account for 2-3 days and updated available account balance around 5 days. I only use this card for short-term interest free purchases.
Use it the right way and it is a cheap unsecured loan – I bought a TV from Harvey Norman with one of the 0% interest promotions they run occasionally. Quick to get approved and set up. I haven't had any issues that needed support to resolve though my one question to the support team was answered quickly and efficiently. My one bit of advice - Don't, whatever you do, use this as anything other than a… Read more
credit source for major purchases and make the monthly payments on time. In my case that means I am paying 2.2% interest on the amount borrowed for the TV. The more you buy the lower the interest rate is essentially as it's a fixed monthly fee. You cannot get rates anything close to this for unsecured debt from other sources.
Once you have it set up, take the card, put it in a drawer or bury it in the yard and make the payments. If you don't trust yourself to do this then don't use it. Read the reviews from people that have used it as a daily card in conjunction with big purchases - that's the trap.
EDIT: After 2 odd years of paying off the loan the fixed prices were increased 100%. The day I made the last payment I wrote in to cancel the card (Can't do it through the account).
It's still a relatively cheap unsecured loan but them doubling the price really rubbed me the wrong way and threw out the calculations I had made that helped justify buying the TV on credit rather than outright.

Had multiple interest free Harvey Norman transactions and then purchased an iphone through apple which was a standard transaction. Every monthly payment on the card reduced the interest free portion but nothing came off the primary of the non interest free portion so I was constantly being slugged with a huge interest that wasn't reducing. still was any further interest free purchases would have further extended this situation. Then let's not forget that they slug you for BPay payments and since 2024 they slug you a monthly account fee EVEN with your card at a $0 balance. Cut it up and boycott these scam artists!!!!!

The worst customer service experience you could imagine. I submitted a request to get more information on a transaction; they stopped my card without telling me; didn't reissue a new one automatically; I spent 30+ minutes trying to be ID'd to get it sorted (auto-service absolutely useless).
Reactivated my account on 1st October. It is now 11th October and I have not received any replacement card; I am unable to use a “digital” card from my phone app; I have received NO SUPPORT from Customer Service! Show details

Latitude is one of the most disappointing organisations you can ever come across in Australia. During the five years I was with them, their customer service was consistently poor. From time to time, their policies changed without any reasonable level of communication or transparency. Latitude frequently changed its policies regarding benefits,… Read more

I paid all my instalments on time. However, I later discovered that they had incorrectly reported me, which damaged my credit score. When I enquired about the issue, they admitted it was their mistake and that I had been falsely reported — yet they never apologised.
This experience shows how their negligence can damage your credit report, and they don’t even take responsibility for their errors.
If you want to waste your time, money, and energy — and have your credit score ruined in the process — I highly recommend them. Their true expertise lies in making your life more difficult.
Latitude Financial (Go-Mastercard) should be investigated for charging excessive fees on their credit cards and enforcing unreasonable rules regarding late fees. Late fees of $45 are unheard of and not reasonable or comparable with other financial institutions. I will be making a complaint with ASIC. Show details
AFCA Found Them in Breach – Mastercard Has Been Notified A simple Harvey Norman mattress purchase using GO Mastercard led to a financial mess that took almost a year to resolve. both Mastercard rules and their own obligations. Their excuse? Silence, deflection, and delay.
This isn’t just poor service—it’s regulatory misconduct.
Latitude has now been reported to Mastercard directly, and their retail partners Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi are still pushing their products without transparency.
If you're a GO Mastercard user, ask yourself: What protections do you really have? What happens if something goes wrong?
Based on my experience: nothing. Avoid GO Mastercard. Avoid Latitude. They’re under regulator scrutiny, and it shows.
Signed up to latitude to purchase a soundbar, interest free period was the main reason. Now they want to charge 10.95 a months even though my balance is 0. Eat a bag of D’s Lattitude. Extortion, scam, terrible customer service and poorly managed. Avoid at all costs!!!! Account will be closed, but I hear that’s just as much of a struggle.
A Frustrating and Costly Experience with Latitude Financial I opened my account with Latitude Financial in November 2024, and since then, I have had nothing but problems. The level of misinformation, poor customer service, and lack of accountability has been frustrating, time-consuming, and financially costly. 1. Incorrect Name on Credit Card –… Read more
No Resolution for Weeks When I received my credit card, I noticed that while my account name was correct, my card name was wrong. This caused verification issues whenever I tried to make a purchase. • Despite multiple calls, every agent gave me a different answer. Some even claimed that I had entered the name incorrectly. • I was asked to re-submit my identification documents multiple times, and each time, I received no updates. • After weeks of calling, escalating, and speaking to multiple representatives, someone finally corrected the mistake. This should have never happened in the first place.
2. Statement Date Change – Repeated False Promises Since my first week, I had been requesting a statement date change. • Initially, I was told this could only be done after making my first purchase. • After making purchases, I called again and was explicitly assured that my date change request had been processed. • This was false. The next month, my statement still reflected the old date. • I called again, explained the issue, and was again told that the date change was now confirmed and would take effect next cycle. • It was not. March arrived, and my statement date was still unchanged.
In the process, I was charged a $45 late fee because I had been relying on the date I was told multiple times had been changed.
3. Interest Charges Despite Verbal Assurances During my last call, I specifically asked if any interest had been applied to my account due to the repeated mishandling of my statement date. • The customer service agent explicitly told me that no interest had been charged. • When I received my March statement, I saw a interest charge on my account. • After multiple confirmations that no interest would be charged, it was still applied without explanation.
Repeated Failures & Unethical Practices • Misinformation is a pattern. Customer service representatives give different answers each time, and assurances made over the phone do not match what happens to your account. • Promises are not followed through. Even when a manager “confirms” a change, there is no guarantee that it has actually been processed. • Fees and interest can appear unexpectedly. Even after confirming multiple times that no interest would be applied, it still was. • No real accountability. Customers are left chasing answers, resubmitting documents, and dealing with unnecessary fees due to Latitude’s errors.
This experience has been frustrating, stressful, and costly. I am sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision when dealing with Latitude Financial.
If you are considering using their services, I strongly recommend keeping detailed records of every call, asking for confirmation emails, and double-checking all statements to avoid unexpected charges.
It is a torture with this company. I owned 3 cards in the past, closed all of them due to mismatching info from agents, bad customer service and card fees that was increased for no reasonable services. Now I again applied for their go master card, uploaded all information and they are treating me like a criminal. Even after uploading payslips, I… Read more
was asked to submit an employment verification letter and asked me too many questions that was already available on payslip to see. This agent who handled the call says, my payslip is more than 60 days old where my payslip (date of pay clearly visible) is 6 days old. If not for their 6-month interest free for big ticket purchases, kindly know that this is a torture you are putting yourself into knowingly. Do not know how else to describe this experience.
Customer service – Has to be one of the worst customer service ever once giving all my details to the automated system I had to give it again to the person dealing with my call apart from that they don’t really care about your problem or concern zero crap given once I pay it off I’m ripping the card up.

6 month interest free for over $250 transactions is not apply – 6 month interest free over $250 transactions is not apply at my account . And I cannot convert it at my Mobile app . I did transactions over past 3 month ago with transactions over $250 didn’t apply and I call them to request it to convert 6 month interest free but still not apply . All customers service is only promise to customer but all is disappointed . I am really disappointed until now .
Monthly service fee – I've had this card for over 10 years. when it was sold to me at Harvey Norman I was told you only pay the monthly service fee if you have a balance owing. Now they want to charge $10.95 per month for something I only use occasionally. Not only will I be cancelling the card, but Harvey Norman have lost all of my business.
A forked tongue representative – Just had a discussion with a person with absolutely zero empathy, who told me straight out he was unable to refund account keeping charges I had never been informed of, mainly because they had my email address recorded incorrectly, to then agree he could refund them. Also accepted no responsibility for having my details recorded incorrectly. Felt he was deceitful and absolutely had no interest in assisting me.
Its impossible to close your acount – I had a Go Mastercard for years. I paid it off and cencelled the card in May. Then I get a nasty letter saying I owe them $10 for some account keeping fee they just introduced after I closed my account. I spent hours on the phone getting it sorted. Account definitely closed. Two months later I get another threatening letter saying I owe them $10. I checked online and don't even have an account with them anymore. Stop sending me bills.
Stay far away – DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They direct debited over $4000 from my personal account without permission, putting me into a negative of nearly $4000 on my personal bank account so I have no way to pay bills, rent, food, etc. All I get told is that I have to call back next Monday to start the refund process which will take another 3-5 business days on… Read more
top of that. So I'm stuffed for nearly 2 weeks with my bank also taking dishoner fees on top of this. Just got told it must be my fault and that was that.
Avoid at all costs! – Only gets one star so I can post & vent! I attempted to close my account 4 times, each time a balance of some ridiculous amount was showing.. a dollar & some odd cents, sometimes just cents. accept that there was anything owing. Now, I've been hit with 3 retrospective 'account keeping fees' of $10.95 ea!! Despite wanting to put up a fight, I've just gone online & paid $32.78. I went to 'Close Account' to get rid of these blood sucking leeches once & for all, and it advised me that I need to wait until the payment is cleared. I'm guessing there will be yet another 'account keeping fees' by then, and this vicious cycle will continue. I will be contacting the AFCA if that happens. Stay as absolutely far away as you can from these blood suckers, they'll just plunge you further into a debt you can't escape from.
Monthly charge even though account not used – I haven't used my account in years and all of a sudden they decide that it is ok to charge me $10.95 per month. It is also very hard to make a payment. You need to either put in your bank details, pay by direct debit or pay via BPay for a charge. Never will I ever use this company again Show details
Greedy organisation – Since July they have started charging an account servicing fee of $10.95 even with a zero balance. That's ripping-off and shows the greedy intent of them. Called them today and closed the account. Wish I could have given them a sub zero rating. Show details
