I really wanted to like Halaxy, but for me it was a professional and clinical liability. While the "free" price tag is tempting, you pay for it with your time and your clients' data privacy. Their credit system is opaque and hard to reconcile - it's really difficult to know just how much you're actually paying for the platform, and the interface is so counterintuitive that it takes hours of unbillable time just to figure out basic tasks.

The data integrity issues are genuinely scary for a clinical practice. Be aware that Halaxy’s privacy policy allows them to "access and aggregate" your data—including de-identified clinical health information—to share with third parties and for their own research.

I found a profile for a client I never created, heard of, or interacted with, which leaves me wondering who might have my clients' data? The system also generated duplicate client profiles, splitting sensitive clinical notes into two different files. That is a massive safety risk.

Even if you request .csv or PDF, they only export your client notes in editable .html files, which doesn't sit right with AHPRA/National Law requirements for record immutability. They also didn't produce an audit log when I requested.

The system doesn't automatically apply client overpayments/credits to future bookings. I had to track it all manually, which defeats the purpose of practice management software.

My final Income Report had a $1,606 discrepancy because the system can't distinguish between a discount and actual revenue.

Halaxy generated legal invoices claiming clients paid double the actual amount ($280 for a $140 service, for example).

When I pointed these things out, I was met with defensiveness, not help. It took a formal Letter of Demand for them to finally issue a refund "in good faith" while still refusing to admit the system was at fault.

Sadly this is yet another example of practitioners and clients being the product. Between the data mining, the accounting errors, and the time you'll waste fixing its mistakes, Halaxy is simply not fit for professional clinical practice.
