1 helen s.  · Disgusting service at Nowra, hearing aids never work properly and rude staff. Don't waste time or money on this place.
1 Lisa A.  · Pathetic – Absolute disgraceful Well what can I say ..nothing but I will . Would never ever want to work there or be a customer .!!
1 Doug H.  · Buyer beware – Be careful. I feel their testing procedures are flawed. My hearing aids are in my cupboard
1 U78tdg  · Hearing Australia is evil – They are really an evil company with ugly people so they can do a lot better for everyone

Very upset that they charge a maintenance fee. I hope all pensioners know that you can get it all for free at Bay Audio. Hearing Australia didn't seem to be too worried about losing me as a customer.

Follow-up  · No follow up. So they really don't care about losing customers.

This is my second review on HA. Further to my previous review I have given HA the opportunity to repair one faulty aid and then get both of them working. Well, congratulations on wasting three hours of my life going through a hearing test, fitting, tuning etc. only to have the “repaired” aid which had the “newest technology fitted”, last for 50… Read more

hours (that includes charge time) before it simply died. Nothing. Dead. 50 hours. I was not amused. HA offered me a replacement pair, why would I want two more of these bits of trash, new or not? When I told them to shove that idea where the sun doesn’t shine, they came back with an offer of another brand which were basically down market trash. HA have outlined to me how “great and helpful” they have been in an attempt to paint themselves in a better light. Sorry, no matter how hard you try you cannot paint a pretty face on a t#rd. Looks like this will be settled in the courts. I’ll keep you posted

Frustrating experience – After spending nearly $6000 on hearing aids. Having a Dr letter as advised to have home visits. We are now told that we have to get them to an office to have them seen to. At 88 and not mobile and despite the website advertising home visits we are at our wits end. There is no empathy from the staff. The attitude is different once they have your money. Do not deal with them.

Very disappointing – Their caravan show came to our local shopping centre. Signs said to pop in for a hearing test and offered some goodies bag. My wife stopped in for a test. When asked if we could grab a bag, they refused. Said it was only for people who booked in and did the complete test, not the short one they gave her on the day. In short it was a waste of time and we feel we were fooled by their despicable tactics.

Have been dealing with Hearing Australia in Lismore, NSW, for a few years now. The staff - audiologists and office staff - are uniformly competent and very obliging. Have great confidence in them. Have seen many negative reviews here, which seem to reflect that crucial factor - the staff involved. HA Lismore is staffed by helpful and caring people, and it shows. Other places haven’t been so lucky, it seems.

Not a happy chappy – I have to start and say generally I have no gripes about some of the services offered. I have one aid which the tube is cutting into my ear which has been like that for 2 years now, it it has been bought to their attention but gets fobbed off. Secondly the other aid seems to spend more time away getting fixed than I do wearing it. I’m getting to a point where I want another provider. Show details

Had my first ever hearing test. I could clearly hear the front reception staff talking AND the audiologist moving his mouse around on the desktop, making it very difficult to hear the words/sounds. Surely this was not going to give an accurate result? Disappointing.

Hearing Australia used to be the forefront of hearing care but this has changed. The company has focused on prioritising profits over care following a failed computer system update. Cost saving measures mean you will be fitted with ‘Hearing Australia’ branded hearing aids which are using technology from a hearing aid company called ReSound.… Read more

These devices have connectivity issues and often need repair. They are also very difficult to have adjusted by other providers should you wish to go elsewhere for help.

Wait times are long and services are becoming more limited as staffing issues become more prevalent with many experienced people leaving. Please be wary when considering this pathway. May I suggest being reviewed by an independent provider who can recommend a variety of products based on your need and budget, rather than being ruled by sales and incentives. There is too much emotion and financial burden at stake to roll the dice on your hearing health.

TL/DR: Don't go here, just accept the wait time and get a free hearing test somewhere else cos that's all these guys will give you anyway and they'll charge you ~$200 for it. The condescension is free. Not very happy about my experience. Had specific questions about tinnitus and hearing sensitivity so instead of just booking online I waited on… Read more

hold for ages to actually speak to a human and ask them questions, such as: Can you confirm with tests if I actually have tinnitus? (they answered yes) Can you tell me what frequencies it is if I have it (again, yes) Can I speak to the tester about hearing sensitivity issues? (yes). They said it would cost me $196. I asked more questions: Can I get a consession with a health care card? (Another yes, down to $136.50, also stated in the appt. confirmation email) Do they take Private Health cards? (Yes again).

Now bear in mind, you can go get a free hearing test at a lot of places. You just have to wait a few weeks. In my case I was willing to pay $136 to see someone within a week about a specific issue, chose Hearing Australia based on this phone call. Big mistake.

Firstly after confirming my booking, I got sent an email with directions and a map pin that were in completely the wrong building of a massive shopping complex. When I finally found the place (almost by luck), I was given a basic hearing test in a room that wasn't sound proof, so I had to try and listen for tiny minute sounds over people speaking in other rooms, noisy computer fans etc. There was no test for tinnitus, I still have no idea if I actually have it let alone what frequencies it may be at, my attempts to discuss my hearing issues were met with polite smiles and nods and no helpful information at all, & my concerns about sound sensitivity were dismissed as hypochondria.

For this I was charged the full $196. They refused to look at my health care concession card, or my private health, they didn't even give me a proper invoice - just the eftpos receipt. Almost $200 on a basic hearing test that I COULD HAVE GOT FOR FREE, and no useful diagnosis at all one way or another re tinnitus.

Best avoided.

Interesting experience booking an appointment. Was travelling in Western Australia when AH rang to book my husband in for an appointment in Queensland (home state) in 2 months’ time. They booked him in for a 9am appointment - time appeared automatically in my diary as 11am, which hubby arrived for and was 2 hrs late.

I got hearing aids 5 years back and they could only connect to an iPhone because the HAs used a proprietary bluetooth protocol! bummer! I was told by HA on multiple occasions that when I updated to the new hearing aids that they would have general bluetooth connectivity to multiple devices!!! It was the ONLY reason I upgraded. Unfortunately, the… Read more

new hearing aids did not connect other than to an iPhone! What a rip-off! I had to pay $270 for a dongle to connect my hearing aids to my laptop! I also paid $8.00 over the internet for a similar product to connect my TV rather than $330 for a property dongle for the TV.

If the hearing aids had general bluetooth rather than proprietary bluetooth it would be an “upgrade” and I would have saved $300.

Don’t trust what HA says get a second opinion.

Really, really disappointed!

The staff at Hearing Australia were kind, caring and friendly. My results were explained thoroughly and I was provided with a report for my records which I appreciated. I am extremely disappointed however, at the lack of capacity to claim this service through Medicare despite meeting criteria according to Medicare (referral from GP, individual… Read more

Cairns branch lacks professionalism and empathy, as well as accurate information. Staff turnover is high, as you would expect. Unfortunately it is the only place for govt funded pediatric hearing aids in the region. If you have other options please go elsewhere.

Made an appointment 5 weeks in advance at the Swan Hill branch, drove 150 klms round trip to that appointment today to find the person that they had booked me with had left. There had been no attempt to cancel the booking or reschedule the booking, they literally did not know what they were doing. I walked out, if they can't handle their bookings I can't trust them with my hearing

I purchased two Signia hearing aids on 14th October, 2021. Both units have been replaced TWICE since this date and I am also continually visiting the store to get the receivers replaced. The last two times I have had to pay $225 to get them fixed. Hearing Australia has refused my request to lower the repair cost even though the products are not of… Read more

Poor quality and poor customer empathy – Hearing aids had a problem from day 1 and have been back 4 times and had them sent away only for them to stop doing what they are supposed to every couple of weeks. We want our money back but keep getting fobbed off and waiting on them to call back with appointment to discuss. Would never recommend them at all.

Lot to be desired – Not impressed with the service. Had behind the ear aids fitted after a test. Seems my hearing cut out around 6000 Hz. And guess what, so does the hearing aid. Frequency response cuts out around 6000 Hz. So what was the point of my aids? I persisted for a while and soon ran out of batteries. Advised I could get free batteries via their website. OK… Read more

but forgot to point out that there is a fee of some $52 pa for this. Not mentioned earlier. Disappointing really, but what can be expected from a government service. Will most likely try another provider at some stage in the future.

Cheats and dishonest – Absolutely disgusting and deceitful people. Selling the most expensive blue tooth capable hearing aids to my 98 year old mother then telling her she has to hold the phone to her ear after pairing to hear because she had an old phone. Totally chaotic service – Hearing Australia is an absolute disgrace in the lack of service and communication they provide. I have had to make numerous phone calls to them just to get them to book an appt. for my elderly mother (97yrs) and they still can't tell me what date will be suitable. I asked them twice to put a note on mum's file to let me know once they have… Read more

Rude shop phone receptionist - we won't be going there – When ringing for information to chose where to go for hearing aids, I asked whether this shop has a specific new model. She rudely insisted that the… Read more

After they sell you, forget it – Difficult experience actually getting hearing aids. After spending a lot of money I find there is no after sales follow up. Tryin to push sales – Do not attend the liverpool nsw office, the so called technician tried to push a sale on, even though I am on a disability pension. The he ordered the wrong process twice as I refused to buy. Reception office lie to people about phone calls and the manager defends all sales people. If you have money please go, if not don’t go.
