Hisense Laser Cinema Projector PL1H
VerifiedMPN: PL1H1 review
I've given Hisense products go over the last 7 years, a fridge, washer, microwave and most recently their PL1H projector and it too has failed in a very short time and well within its warranty period. The short throw concept is great, picture quite good if you have a theatre room or darker environment, they do struggle in medium to high ambient light rooms.
My unit lasted only 7 months, with very limited use before developing dead spots, i.e projection of a white block in the picture. Additionally other functional issues such as "Ambient temperature too high" and shutting down in a cool media room at 21 deg.
Prior to the unit failing I was quite impressed with its performance overall. Fantastic picture, the onboard speakers are better than most high-end TVs I've owned, though I ran it trough my Onkyo receiver mostly. All the usual streaming apps available, though missing music apps like Spotify, TuneIn etc. Connection and setup is straightforward. it should definitely have come with a storage /;dust cover to stop dust settling on the lense, huge oversight
It's their warranty process that's more of a failure. 6 weeks after first lodging my warranty service request I'm still getting the run around. It's the age old repair agent blaming Hisense and vice versa. My service job has been lost twice in the last 3 weeks. When my service was finally found, I decided to drop the unit in for repair myself to save yet another week for pick up by the repair agent.
Today I should have received my projector back. Unfortunately upon checking with the repair agent today I've been advised Hisense sent the wrong parts and I'm looking at another 15 to 20 working days for the right parts to arrive and another 7 to 10 working days for repair, then another week for delivery back to me.
I lodged my warranty claim of the 1st of July, today I'm advised possibly another 4 to 6 weeks so all told 3 months. I'm not convinced it won't be longer.
I strongly suggest buying another brand that has better early failure replacement and warranty procedures.
