Absolutely useless. I attended the emergency department with blood dripping down my neck and a very sore neck after a hard fall onto a concrete surface which severely split my head open. I waited for one hour in pain and still bleeding to be told I had to pay first (about $350 which was no problem) before being admitted. I asked how long it… Read more
might be as this was an emergency and I had already been waiting for one hour and not one person from the waiting room had been seen in this time. He could not give me an answer so I left in disgust. My head is still bleeding. I should have gone to public emergency as the service or lack of could not have been any worse!!! What are emergency departments for!!!
Thorough and efficient ED service, no long wait. Excellent Catering Team providing tasty, healthy a la carte meals to 900 patients. Good facilities. Recommend
Excessive wait of several hours in ED in severe pain while many less serious patients were seen. Pick a number in ED is not triage! Many failed cannulation attempts by staff. After 8 hours in a bed I was about to be discharged by junior doctors with no findings when I asked to see the consultant, who correctly diagnosed a spinal fracture within 2 mins. No copies of report or scans forwarded as promised. Poor experience! Show details
Staff are absolutely lovely and kind, it was extremely obvious to me that they are so overworked on the ward. The gorgeous lady on stand by area for surgery is up beat and just so lovely she had us all laughing, definitely made for her job. I was at Hollywood Hospital 2 weeks prior to this stay and this time very different. Surgery staff, surgeon and anaesthesist absolutely perfect. Definitely need pay rises and more staff, thank you
I have nothing but praise & admiration for the Amazing Staff in the Donaldson ward at the Hollywood hospital. My husband Darryl sadly passed away whilst on a medical trial, but the duty of care received during his time there was absolutely sensational. A few super heroes in the ward Neethu, Suzanne, Abigail, Raj, Michelle, Dr/s Ollie, Opelo and… Read more
Alwyn and the absolute legend Adrian, who was a God send in our darkest hours. Adrian is professional, patient & caring and a blessing to anyone in his care. You are all serving your calling beyond expectation & your passion is evident. Huge THANK YOU for Everything.
The person at front entrance blond lady on Tuesday 8 April is a rude nasty b*tch no personality no manners Asked her excuse do you.......cut me off with your to early no ones here yet, sit down
Budget Motel – Nurses don’t answer call bell - ringing and ringing, 10-15 mins sometimes for pain relief, toilet, water. No orientation to the ward and how it works eg how to work TV, lights, bed. Fact you have to order own food via caterer. Nurses don’t even know the times food available. Don’t offer you extra pillows, nothing. I wasn’t planning on staying… Read more
overnight, but had to. Asked to purchase a disposable toothbrush/paste - no such thing existed.
You have to ask for every single thing and you never know if it “exists” or not.
If you know you’re staying bring as much food and snacks as you can. Otherwise you will starve.
I began wondering if this was in fact a private hospital. I’ve had way better service in public.
Terrible don’t go to emergency – The doctor in emergency was terrible. Didn’t listen to my concerns/ailments and when myself and my partner tried to voice our concerns it was mansplained back to us we were wrong. Doctor didn’t even examine me just ordered a swab and basic blood test then discharged me despite my symptoms still occurring and my voicing I was still very lightheaded… Read more
and dizzy and my partner having to hold me up straight. Also seemed inconvenienced when I asked for a medical certificate.
Negligent – Requested an early discharge to negligent patient care both in post op and on the ward. Traumatic experience is an understatement.
Anesthetis and nurses don't care about you – The most horrific pain management experience, i had to endure at this place. Not Hospital , PLACE. because at Hospitals they are suppose to take care of their patients. Not Hollywood private Hospital. After exiting my Knee operation, i was asked whats your pain level? I said at least an 8. i'm in a lot of pain. From 6:30pm ( so from the recovery… Read more
room) until 8am the next day. I kept asking for pain relief and they continue to give me the same one tablet that was not doing anything. They tried calling the anethistis ( Tom Ryan). at 1am but he did not answer. so they asked the Doctor on call. and he told them. Leave her. The medicine will work. He didnt even come to see me. the fact i was in tears meant nothing! all they said, Oh shes tried, thats why shes crying. just leave her.
i'm crying because im in PAIN!!, i'm tired becasue i have not slept because i am in pain. AT 3am i just stopped complaining about the pain and just cried. I prayed that the pain would knock me out and i could hopefully get at least 10 minutes of sleep but . unfortunately i was not so lucky. and had to endure 12 hours of pain until something actual got done at 8am.
Apparently things are get done during doctors working hours 8am-5pm.
Whats the point of asking me what my pain level is if you are not going to listen! everytime i said an 8. and everytime the nurses walked in they said is it a level 6now. i say no. no change. i'm still in pain. oh..mm it will take time. Its been 2 hours since the medication, no change!. how much time do you need?
I cant believe this is how Australians treat people. So inhumane.
I would not recommend tom ryan as your anesthetis. Because he can't do a nerve block correctly. And he'll talk down to you. And tell you it's not his job to get rid of the pain. Its to make it bearable. If you have ever cracked or broken a bone. That radiating pain is what i had to experience for 12 hours.
How is that fare?
Profits over patients! – I underwent afternoon spinal surgery which was completed at 7.00 pm. The surgery was performed on time and the staff went out of their way to take good care of me before and in the hours immediately after the surgery. My husband was very disappointed that he was not able to check on me after surgery as visiting finished at 8 pm. I actually… Read more
wasn't taken to my room until about 10 pm, as my bed was not ready. During the rather long night, I was well looked after by the nurse on duty and all of the staff were very pleasant, in spite of the fact that they seemed very overworked. The problems started next morning - I was not told that I was supposed to order my breakfast by phone, and would have missed out if the lady delivering breakfasts had not popped her head in and asked me whether I'd ordered. No menu or instructions had been left in the room. I finally was delivered breakfast at 9.30 am after having ordered over an hour before. My surgeon arrived before this and informed me that if I was feeling well, I could go home later in the day, although I had previously been told that I'd be in hospital for 2 - 3 days. As from that time, I was made to feel that I was "in the way" and that I should be packing up my belongings as I was informed that the room was needed for someone else although I was supposedly booked in for at least another night and possibly two!! After speaking to my surgeon earlier in the day, I was under the impression that I'd probably be leaving late afternoon when everything had been settled regarding my medication and my blood pressure reading, which was rather high. Late morning I'd still not been given my blood pressure medication, so I helped myself from the cupboard in my room. I was feeling very fragile and a bit teary by this time as I felt very unwelcome!! I feared that I wouldn't be able to take the pain medication which I was prescribed and this was indeed the case - this should have been sorted out before I left as I had informed staff of my suspicion; as it was, I left the hospital without suitable pain medication and had a very uncomfortable two hour trip home in the car and a very painful night, but was very glad to be out of Hollywood Hospital!! The hospital administration leaves a lot to be desired!!!!
Food was the only problem, a BIG problem. Medical was excellent – Failed in food big time, which undermined the EXCELLENT MEDICAL and NURSING CARE. First 30 hours of no food for $4000+ /day in ICU. 7 hours fasting before op, then nothing for 24 hours "because I didn't order anything," from the catering information that was not provided to me. When I did get food it was a choice of two dishes both too awful to… Read more
eat. Eggs boiled hard to being grey because thats a health dept requirement but not served with any butter or sauce to moisten them or stop the gag reflex, the best they could offer. I would have been fine if I had known and just supplied my own food.
Horrific Experience – Arrived in Emergency with my 87 year old mother. Paid $250 non-claimable fee. 7 hours later she finally had a bed in a ward. We were told to wait for the doctor before mum could take her tablets which she bought with her (prepared by her pharmacy). These included important heart tablets. Even though mum reminded them at 10pm that night, the… Read more
doctor still hadn't come the next morning so no tablets taken. Breakfast didn't arrive. Previous experiences at this hospital were even more horrific/dangerous so we should have known better than to return. 0%

starve – Meal delivery times are beyond rediculous. 1 hour 10 minutes quickest . Most 2 hours +. It also took 25 minutes for them to pick up and take order . Todays lunch took 3 hours . Not sure how the elderly or very sick would deal with this . Will not let my elderly parents stay here again . Not sure they would be fed . Show details
Excessive Bureaucracy – The medical staff at Hollywood Hospital are great. Unfortunately this hospital suffers from excessive bureaucracy. The catering department is the worst example of this. There is no attempt to work as a team with the medical staff. This is in total contrast to my experience at St John of God Murdoch. The administration went out of their way to get… Read more
patient feedback and make a hospital stay as pleasant as possible. I suggest Hollywood review their management and take a more personal approach. I would not recommend staying in Hollywood hospital if you have a choice.
Terrible experience all round – Where do I begin… Once known as Hollywood Hotel this place is now akin to a budget highway motel. Whoever the poor soul is running the operations both clinical and patient services, has much to learn about how a hospital should operate and focus less on sucking the money out of patients pockets. Day 1. Arrived at 7am as instructed, went into a… Read more
holding ward for 2 1/2 hours where I put on a gown and got dry shaved leaving me red raw. Then transferred to pre-op where I was interviewed by the anaesthetist and told I’d be in theatre very shortly…. 3 hours go by with no communication from anyone except confused looks from the orderly walked past my bed with another patient. At 1pm I was taken to theatre. Op done back in the ward. Day 2. Lunchtime rolls around, wait in a phone queue for 15mins only to be told I don’t exist and basically to go away. Talked to the nurse who then assured me I was back on “the list” waited another 15mins to be told you’re not on the list and go away again. Finally get some lunch at 2pm. Day 3. Breakfast…. on hold for 15 mins….you guessed it…. This time I’m somehow Gluten intolerant (which I never have been) and could have a bail of hay for breakfast. I asked the operator to look at yesterday’s dinner and tell me if this looked right to him. He didn’t seem too interested. Decided life is too short and I’ll just go home and have some breakfast there.
Maybe look somewhere else to get care and spend a fortune. This place has drifted to barely adequate from the reputation it once had. My blood sugars are now all over the shop having had meals whenever they would feed me.
I would be extremely reluctant to return or recommend this facility to anyone as the money paid is just ridiculous for the very average service provided. Hopefully someone from Ramsey Health reads this and understands that people are not sheep and need to be treated with respect and compassion.
Very sick ED – Hi I thought you may be interested in the experience I had today at the Hollywood Private Hospital Emergency Department. I attended The private ED thinking that I would be seen relatively quickly and I was happy to pay the $200 fee because I can afford it and thought it was appropriate in order not to add additional pressure on to the already… Read more
stretched WA public health system.
I arrived at 13.45 and went through the usual covid protocols and was then told to wait in the waiting area which would not be too long. I waited until 16.45 (3 hours later) before asking if I was going to be seen. The staff member advised that the ED was full and I would have at least a further 3 hour wait. No updates were given throughout the initial 3 hours.
During my wait in the waiting area two nursing staff began taking pulse rates and blood pressure readings in the public waiting area. I am no expert but surely the privacy of all the waiting patients was breached because names were heard clearly and other information that should never be in the public domain without authorisation.
It's also interesting that staff continued to take money from patients presenting knowing full well they had a full ED.
The whole experience today has been a farce and I can assure you the health system in WA is very sick
