A pain to set up – HP 2823e. What ever happened to 'plug & play'? Why did I need a phone to set this thing up and make passwords up and put in multiple times and chase code numbers down. I just want to print a page from the bloody computer! What a drag ... took hours..... Show details

IT Support needed for set-up – I purchased an HP Deskjet 2723 a few weeks ago, and had endless issues trying to set it up. Luckily I had previously met Peter Brakels of Too EZ! Phone 0439636698, and he spent a couple of HOURS setting it up, and it now works as expected. It is unfortunate that modern 'technology' is an obstacle to us older users trying to use new products 'out of the box'. Give Peter a go if you experience similar set-up issues! Show details

Not recommended for scanning! – I have to be fair - printing set up and quality is OK and generally works properly. The hardware seems OK, but the software is another issue. Scanning is a nightmare. It has rarely worked first time after switching on the machine. I get a "scanner unavailable" message. Usually the HP Printer Scanner Doctor App works to sort it out, sometimes takes… Read more

two or more attempts. Sometimes I have to uninstall and reinstall to get it going. The latest disaster - after about an hour of failing with the doctor and uninstall / reinstall, I found that the scanner had for some inexplicable reason been "disabled" by the software. You have to go in through security as an administrator to fix that problem. If you do a fair bit of scanning, don't buy one of these - totally unreliable. I've wasted hours, downloaded the latest software, which works once or twice, then back to the "scanner unavailable" message again. Very frustrating. As of March 2023 there is an updated software that is downloadable for this printer which supersedes the HP Smart program that was so problematic. I have scanned a few times now using the new program with Bluetooth on my home network, without difficulty. So far so good after 18 months of unreliable performance.

piece of crap. I hate it – Every day I go to print, i have no idea whether it will print or not. Somedays yes, usually no. The connectivity with the computer changes every day. It will scan to my computer then then when I go to print, it says cannot connect to printer. Some days it says there is no driver. I HATE THIS PRINTER. Show details

Does everything except print – Continually get error messages when printing. But no explanation what the error is, so cannot even begin to to resolve it or figure out what the problem is. Never know when it's gonna happen so can't trust this machine. Scanning is fine.  Show details

Avoid avoid avoid – HP 2723 Printer - Brought to replace a ten yr old HP f4200 deskjet. The set up is a nightmare, the app is a nightmare. The scanner isn't half as good as its ten year old equivalent. I spent the best part of three months communicating with HP to try and resolve my issues. I have wasted hours and hours and hours of my time on this piece of sh!t. The… Read more

Hp reply can be summarized as "oh yeah the scanner is rubbish, you shouldn't have brought that one, you can't have your money back" I have three HP printers and large plotters and have been a loyal HP fan for years, massively disappointed in this product and HP's customer service.... next action, copy this review and paste EVERYWHERE

Poor design, poor quality and the opposite of easy to use – A cheap printer made deliberately difficult and clunky to use. From the weak paper loading style to the locked in interface (you literally can't use it unless you have a Microsoft account) it's by far the worst printer I've ever used and that's including my original first ever printer back in 1996. This is another reason why I'm turning further… Read more

away from Microsoft. What should a simple easy to use budget printer is instead a complex control mechanism with zero user interface and I honestly don't have time for that.

Terrible product. Difficult to install, printer has a mind of it's own thinking it's smarter than a human – We purchased this printer as a home printer. We very rarely need to print a document, maybe once a month or less so this price bracket worked for us. The printer is extremely difficult to install. It does not offer "plug and play" as many printers used to. It does not come with a USB cable. You need to install the HP Smart App on your pc and run… Read more

the installation from there. However, it is not intuitive and the app doesn't actually do the installation. Each time you attempt to connect, the app fails and you have to use the "Install printer" settings on the pc.

I guess the idea is that the printer is installed to a "network" but I have a hard time understanding how we access this "network" printer if it isn't installed anywhere lol.

Additionally, the quality is extremely poor.

Avoid.

absolute trash – DO NOT BUY, enough said. Can not even be bothered to find my invoice etc. Brought cheap, but almost useless. It print one page and stops, one has to press a button to resume. Very hard to scan anything, installed HP app and requires me to set up account to use it. It's 2020 and I need to set up account to use that slow cloud service to scan? Show details

Not worth it – Cheap price, but still not worth it. Sometimes it takes about an hour to connect to the computer to print one page, most times it just does not connect at all. Show details

No longer supported by HP software, won't connect to scan, not compatible with 5G wireless – The HP Smart software does not recognise the printer on the network and will allow printing but not scanning. Requires extensive troubleshooting that is too difficult for lay people. Avoid. Show details

Terrible waste of time and $ – This printer is nothing but a waste of time and money. The HP cartridges are tiny and register as 'empty' within a max 70 pages of printing.... if you are a uni student, this will waste every dollar you have in your bank account just on ink refills. The printer also lies - it declared my black ink cartridge as 'empty' within three days of buying… Read more

it, and started printing blank pages. I hit the information button and out prints some information from the printer in perfect black ink. It likes to tell you it is empty alot earlier than it really is so that you can spend more money on new cartridges, recycle your old ones back to HP while they are still somewhat full of ink.

The 3rd party ink cartridges from Big W do not work on this printer as HP has installed updates and software to block any cartridge that is not their own.

Lastly, every time this printer updates itself, it will chew up your ink and spit out pages and pages of disappointing notifications, wasting the little but expensive ink you have.

Nothing but a massive disappointment. Kick this piece of junk across your back yard and go spend a little more money on something that is not HP.

Worst printer ever – Does not come with software disc. Hard to find and install off internet and the scanning software is a nightmare. Not worth $1. The two ink cartridges capacity is a joke and cost more than the printer. More ccp crap. Show details

Good little printer with difficulties – Working out how to use this printer can be a little difficult with many frustrating information pages printed. However, once you work out what’s going on is a reliable, good quality printer. Show details

Great for a Wireless Printer – Purchased this printer recently on sale. I was actually surprised how easy it was to set up. It's great not having a multitude of cords and now my daughter can print wirelessly from her room for her home school. It is also handy that we can print from our smart phones. Show details

New technology time consuming and too complicated – This is a nightmare to work with. It prints you instructions that are not true anymore after 5 minutes.. passwords and the like. stupid.

Prints some bits fuzzy and others clear on one piece of paper.. like certain sections e.g. an address.. but then the postal declaration is on the money.. for a postage label

no idea how to run the usual print nozzle checking things via app and it's brand new..

completely frustrating experience..

massive waste of ink.. include a user manual for all that already!! Or have it online!! went to 123 hp site no good.. have to download an app and another app..

is supposed to be able to work with chromebook but it is a difficult mission to achieve..

try to print from mobile phone.. wants me to join a wifi network for the printer.. but that is not online so it is just weird.. no functionality there.. i use mobile data.. even if i hot spot to another phone as if attached to wifi.. no good..

waste of time

waste of money

waste of ink..

i imagine other modern printers are the same.

Extremely confusing and i am not a low iq person or technophobe or anything..

Ink lies and waste – I don't usually write reviews but the money gauging with this printer warrants a warning to anyone who is thinking of buying one. I have had the HP Deskjet 2623 for just over a month - admittedly I just needed a printer, any would do. The printing quality is fine and I have had no issues with connectivity. The scanning also works great. The… Read more

issues I have found relates solely to the ink and ink wastage.

Anytime the printer software updates, it prints out a piece of paper stating the fact. WASTE OF EXPENSIVE INK! I'm printing my documents and notice I'm running out of black ink. The HP "Smart" app shows I have very little black ink and my documents no longer print black YET when I hit the "i" button (following a paper error - as directed by my HP "Smart" app) and printed out a printer information page WHAT DO YOU KNOW!!!? Perfect black ink.

Steer well clear unless you enjoy watching your money disappear in the form of HP printer updates

Cheap and disposable – It's cheap. It scans ultra slow if you want high quality scan. Slow as in 15 to 20 mins to scan a passport in highest quality. The ink ran out in less than a hundred pages and document printing only, not much coloured. Ink is ultra expensive, more expensive than the printer itself. Show details

It's cheap but it worth nothing – It's cheap but it worth less! It just ended up thrown in the yard and kicked around. It's slow, terribly slow, it loose the connection every 2 minutes, it freeze continuously, it visualise errors as out of paper in the middle of a printing... Horrible product. I'll never buy an hp product anymore!  Show details

Great little home printer – Great little home printer, comes with everything you need but paper. Easy set up and easy to connect wirelessly to your phone or computer. Have not had one issue with it (jams or connection errors). Con: prints a page to tell you when it has done the update which could annoy some people who like to save ink.  Show details

Great home printer – This Printer is great, the cartridges are cheap and the pages print out super fast!. But the best feature is the wifi, i can print from my phone or laptop without having to plug another cable in and its so cheap. Havent tried the colour yet but black and white print out perfect.  Show details
