HP Deskjet F2200 All-in-One Series

Hardy and durable – I've had this printer for maybe ten years. Still prints fine. Dropped it out the back of my truck into the street while moving, ran over by a car 7 years ago, still works great. Seriously, I saw this thing fall to pieces in the street and be hit by a moving vehicle. I'm very impressed. I will buy HP again.

Good – Overall I'm reasonably happy with this printer, it's cheap, easy to use and produces reasonable quality printing, however the ink cartridges don't last very long, so i recomend you buy the bigger cartridges. A wireless function would be useful so I don't have to join it to the computer, but in my expierence with other printers, they're more trouble than they're worth. The copy function works quite well, but I've had problems with scanning due to the lack of proper software. Price, ease of use, no complicated wireless fucntion that doesn't work, can scan and copy as well as print. doesnt' come with proper software for scanning, ink cartridges don't last very long, shakes a lot while printing
Terrible – This is a noisy printer. It was very cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. I used "compatible" ink refills in it and I guess HP would say that explains the poor print quality. I would have thought these things shouldn't really make a difference but what would I know??? I've been using it for personal stuff and kids activities in the family so quality wasn't crucial.
It also feels more flimsy than its peers.
The scanning drove me nuts too. It would isolate what it thought was the picture. If there was blank spaces between images in the same picture it would create them as individual files or sometimes ignore them altogether and I never did find a way to manually control that.
If you're on a budget and you really can't afford any more and quality doesn't matter then by all means buy it. However I've just upgraded to an Epson which I got on special for under $140 and it kicks butt on this thing. A big difference for not a lot more money. For my comments (and others) on that check out reviews for the Epson TX550W. Cheap Alignment messed up very early on in it's lifespan. Also got "dirty" with ink inside and I couldn't get clean crisp printing/copying. Used up ink quickly. Colour matching was pathetic both for copying and printing.
