HP Elitedesk 800 G5

Perfect video editing setup on a budget – Purchased Jan 2020 from online shop for about $1500. Wanted to set up a dedicated video editing machine without spending more than $2000. And it has worked out well. The specs put it at the low end of video editing setups but I have added a few bits and it is now flying. So it now has Intel I7-9700 processor 32Gb RAM ( includes added 16GB) 500Gb SSD drive, internal ( Came with it, used just for the operating system and programs) 1TB SSD drive, internal (Added to become the "scratch" disk for video editing) 8Tb HDD 3.5 inch internal ( Added to become the main drive for saving files, but not for editing) NO Graphics card needed, as the video editing program I use does not utilise a GPU. The onboard graphics is pretty good anyway. WiFi dongle added for internet access and updates. Windows 10 Pro (64 bit version) , included in the original specification.
Total price about $2200, so I blew the budget, but this machine screams with Adobe Premiere Elements V.18 (2020) and Photoshop, and Office for Business 2019.
Everything about this computer is a breeze, and solidly built, despite the fact it is a SFF (small form factor) case that takes up very little room on my desk. It has 11 USB or other ports as standard! Some USB 3.00, some USB 3.1, or powered, and a rather slow USB C port. Two Display Port jacks for a dual monitor setup complete the array.
There is room for another 3.5 inch HDD internally and 4 another slots ( some half-height) for expansion cards I can use.
That is future proofing, in an ingenious case I can easily service myself. A sub-chassis inside swings up and out to give better access to the guts, the fan is big, the power supply more than adequate.
Not any bloatware to get rid of, and the HP programs that came with it seem well married to the Windows process.
Final word: I could easily have spent 3-6 thousand on a video-editing computer. This fits the bill perfectly and saves me a fortune.
