HP Envy Pro 6400

HP Envy 6420e. This printer was great at my old place for 2.5 years. But when I moved house I just cannot get it to work. Even though I have the exact same modem and Wifi, no matter how many times I try, turn off printer and router as suggested, it reads: "no printers found." I actually bought a cheaper HP printer on Amazon as it takes the same ink cartridges but that DOES NOT WORK either. Same problem: "no printers found." It was a doddle at my old place. I connected to HP Smart and it worked instantly. But now they've replaced HP Smart with just HP it seems to be rubbish. NOT VERY SMART HP. My last resort is to see if I can buy a cable that connects it to my Mac. But that is not going to help printing from my phone or iPad.
Follow-up · I have now bought a cable so I can print from my laptop, but without wireless printing I still can’t print from my phone or iPad. When I’ve used up all my toner I will most likely buy a different brand printer to print wirelessly. The other hiccup when I bought this printer was the Instant Ink service from HP - which is a brilliant idea, you get the toner at a much lower price on a regular basis - had fulfillment problems as I was sent the WRONG toner for the model of printer I bought. I couldn’t contact anybody to help me so I returned the toner with a handwritten note. It must be very frustrating for whoever comes up with these great ideas but the supply chain lets them down.
Non intuitive printer – Printer On/Off button difficult to see, feel and reach at the back, particularly if it's in a cupboard/shelf. Front buttons hard to understand as there are no words. Lights are on all the time, but the Printer "goes to sleep" Offline to save power and difficult to wake up even though lights are on. Once you finally get it going, it does print quite well. It looks good but trying to scan documents is also difficult. Not recommended for occasional printing or elderly.
