Do not buy this printer – This printer has caused me nothing but frustration and I doubt I will ever buy another HP branded printer again just because my experience with this one has been so terrible. Initially I set it up to print over my wi-fi. It would only connect randomly and required a lot of restarting and fussing to get it to print. I ended up buying a printer… Read more

cable and connecting it to my PC. Essentially, the wireless printing option is useless and my kids cannot print their schoolwork from their laptops.

The second major issue is that it now not recognising the printer cartridges. It was printing fine one day, and the following day it would not print. I have followed all the guides on how to fix this issue and nothing works. I purchased a brand new set of ink cartridges, even though the ones that were in it were only half used. But new cartridges did not fix the problem, so I've wasted that money as well. It's now an expensive, flashing paperweight.

The print quality (when it was working) was reasonable for an inexpensive printer. It printed text well, but images were rather ordinary and it is definitely not a photo printer. It was okay with scanning a small number of pages. But trying to scan a document with a larger number of pages was too much for it to process.

Okay, when it feels like working – First thing's first - don't buy it. In fact, I've pretty much sworn off HP's printers because of this thing. The main issue I've had with this printer isn't necessarily the device itself, but the garbage, bloated, buggy software it comes with. You have to download software and then build a profile, including personal details like your email.… Read more

This sort of thing simply isn't necessary for a printer to do its job. Half of the time I sign in (something you have to do in order to print a photo for example), it can't find the printer, even though it's on and connected to the same network.

Add to this the fact that HP's software - even if it can find the printer - can *never* scan. Not sure how this is possible given it's an all-in-one unit, but here we are. The icing on the cake is if you use the Windows scanner tool, it is able to find the scanner, so it's not a connection issue.

Print quality isn't bad, but this literally sits on a shelf next to a Brother laser printer that just works, all the time.

Go for another brand of printer and save yourself the headache.

Junk! – The cartridges are small and run out quickly. Printing is a headache as it always has some drama which brings a new colour. The buttons are visible but not readable. There is a permanent coloured led light tube at the front of the printer meaning that you need to turn the printer off after every use. The lights are some complex code to tell you… Read more

what's wrong with the printer, cool for nerds but hugely frustrating for mere mortals.

I have had three HP Officejets over a 10 year period that have been fantastic. I don't understand why HP have engaged in making this junk they call 'ENVY' of all things. This model is discontinued now, unsurprisingly, but many of the issues are still there for other Envy's.

If you don't link printer drama daily, avoid HP Envy XXXX (any number)

Was sceptical but so far love it – I had an appalling experience with a Canon TS 6060 that could never be set up to scan documents and in the end incessantly asked for QR code just to start copying documents. It never worked properly with a USB and though many tried Wi-Fi was never going to happen. When it did copy documents the large black cartridge would do as little as 5 A4… Read more

copies and at about $30 that is expensive printing. As a Disability Pensioner I can't afford $6 per page. Finally because I live in a fairly remote area I had a HP Envy 6420 sent from a dealer in Sydney. This printer cost $200 less than the Canon so I didn't expect much. I had trouble setting it up because as it turned out in my nervousness I forget to put in the printer cartridges. Once I did that is was relatively simple and fast and the printer does all functions it purports to do and with decent speed and quality. Gave it four stars as I have only had it a short time but have already done about 50 copies without the cartridges running out. Sad to hear that what seems a good product is discontinued but if other HP's are anything near as well designed and built they deserve praise and more customers. Also build quality is solid - on the Canon the paper guides were prone to jamming and snapping.

Frustrating printer – I wish I had read the review above before buying this printer. And now I see it is discontinued but I just bought it 2 weeks ago! When it does print, it is quick and clear but I spend more time trying to work out why it won't print - maybe that's why it has been discontinued. The HP Smart App is awful, I see more of the spinning wheel than the… Read more

actual app and it isn't very helpful when it does open. I haven't tried to buy replacement ink yet but I fear that is going to be a nightmare. Paper jams a lot. I haven't tried the paper feeder yet and am a bit scared too. Printer is temperamental about turning on automatically and I am unplugging it a lot to get it to work. Just an awful purchase. Think I'll go back to Canon.

Don't buy! – Bought about two months ago and now out of ink. No place stocks the replacement colour cartridges, HP 67, for this model. You cannot even order them on HP's website. The display is very basic and confusing and the buttons do not readily respond. Even a very basic operation like cancelling a print job (because you've run out of ink!) is a… Read more

nightmare. The cancel button does not respond and the laughingly called HP Smart software that had to be loaded to use the printer is not helpful at all. Instead of providing other options for cancelling a print job, you get to converse with some online robot assistant that doesn't even understand this basic question. Will be taking it back to Officeworks and buying another brand of printer.
