Still going strong after all these years – I bought this printer from eBay in October 2015 because of its price, size and features. My family and I use the printer occasionally and I use the scanner pretty often. Show details
Disappointing – I can't believe how difficult it is to find a good home printer in this day and age without breaking the bank. It's like these companies try to con you into paying decent money (~$100) for a budget style printer which breaks in roughly one year after buying, pretty much on the dot just past warranty. The alternative is to purchase a massive beast… Read more
of a thing that costs in the high hundreds ($400+) that no one would reasonably buy unless they're rolling in money. This printer did exactly the above. Disappointed.
Just Average – Purchased in Sept 2015. Think it has had it now - December 2018. Won't print from emails or websites, okay from Word and plain copying. Followed all the HP troubleshooter tips to no avail. Reading other reviews, most printers of any brand don't last long. Suppose I'm lucky it lasted this long! Not sure what brand the next one will be, looks like pot luck for all of them. Show details
HP Officejet 5740 – Initially had trouble with wireless connection - so frustrated I ended up replacing the PC. Similar problems with new PC in connection which were eventually overcome, but then paper feed problems - The feeder won't feed, and despite every effort trying to rectify , and although only a few months out of warranty I have no choice but to replace. … Read more
Very disappointed - and I haven't even purchased a third cartridge yet - that's how minimal the use has been
Absolute rubbish – We decided to spend a little extra on a decent printer this time round, but 18 months into its use it won’t scan, photocopy or feed any documents through the feeder. HP support said it was a hardware problem that could not be fixed so in the bin it goes and back to the cheap printers that last a bit longer we go. Don’t waste your money on this. Show details
I wouldn't buy it again – Overall, this printer is OK, but no better than that. I bought it for its wi fi connectivity about 12 months ago. I've had problems with it connecting and disconnecting, and the printer cartridge recognition software plays up constantly. it scans well, when it connects to my laptop. a lot of the time the connection fails. Ho hum really. Show details
Stopped working after HP update – I liked this printer and it worked great up until the last update then it stopped copying and printing from scanner. Repeated pop ups said I did not have HP ink, which I did, and that my ink was low even though it was a new cartridge. HP offered a discount on a new printer but why would I want to buy another one if it stops working when there is an update? My next printer will not be HP for sure! Show details
Great Economical Easy to Install and Use – Really happy with this great little printer. Competitively priced home printing solution. Easy and quick wireless connection of Mac Operating system. Print quality suitable for most home office needs and wireless scanning is a breeze. Print cartridge requirements well priced (by comparison) and discounts were available if replacement cartridges were purchased when buying the printer. Show details
Don't buy if you need to print graphics or logos – Very frustrated that every time I need to print pictures, images or logos, the printer will cut off right hand side and bottom edge of graphic. Nothing I change in image or picture properties will fix the problem despite the "print preview" being perfect. I actually have to print off graphics on an older printer to get it correct. Not good enough HP! I have read that this is also a problem in other recent models. Show details
Good Prints, Scanning and Apps are Average – Typical HP Printing, form factor and built in Wifi + Ethernet are great, printing works really well, included apps are clunky and slow. Connected printing by Email and Smart Phone apps work really well, scanning to email using HP inbuilt App is terrible, choice of apps limited and very slow. Shame it cant scan to email and be setup through web… Read more
interface, then using HP's slow connected poor man applications inbuilt. Paper Tray works well, would be better if HP offered there monthly subscription with cartridges sent out like that do in the US when nearing empty, paying per page rather then per cartridge.
Faulty ink – My printer was printing fine until I bought new ink, the recommended ink; it then stopped printing blue; after talking to an HP technician it was decided that the ink cartridge was faulty and I was told to send it away to get a replacement. The replacement arrived and the printer still didn't print blue, so as the printer was under warranty a new… Read more
printer arrived without new ink, so after inserting my cartridges the printer still didn't print blue, so a new printer was sent to me with new ink, this time it prints fine.
For curiosity I tried my used 3 colour ink cartridge and the same thing happened it didn't print blue.
So I think there is nothing wrong with the printers it is the ink which is faulty.
HP technicians have been very helpful, I wonder if anyone else had the same problem with ink, it was unfortunate that the replacement ink was also faulty.
The rating is for the ink!
