Purposely wastes ink! – Whenever this printer does a system check, the printer pulls ink out of the cartridge. I just installed a brand new ink cartridge and now it's missing 20% of it's ink!!! This is a terrible printer! Do not buy. HP is doing this on purpose to force you to buy more ink. Either leave it on 24/7 or only use it for scanning. Junk.  Show details

Ink swallowing printer – Print quality and construction is good. However it swallows ink even when off. Buy a cartridge and before you can say Hewlett the ink is gone and it says Low Ink and will not print any color unless you replace the cartridge. It will not allow you to override any setting to print at least black and white. Don't buy it.  Show details

cartridges or installed incorrectly" I have since found out from many other users that it is very common after 4 years to have this problem. My suspicion is that HP change something very minor on the cartridges every time they bring out a new model, so that people will be forced to upgrade their systems............. what a fradulent way to run a business. Please consumer watch dog......... investigate this company and report back. I have made more than 6 attempts to get them to confirm in writing what they believe has happened to my system and to assure me that it is not a common occurance...... but no reply as yet....... all I am offered is a discount on a new model???

found out after the warranty period this was a fault, however too late now!. Now my printer has failed with "ink system failure" "cant detect printheads" so doesnt work at all anymore. Big clunky waste of money not to mention the usual HP gouge with the cost of ink, will look elsewhere

Great provided you dont print with it – Overall great product, has all the bells and whistles. Love the wifi functionality. Major problems when it comes to printing. All ink cartirages must be full in order to print, even when printing in Black & White which is 90% of my printing needs. This just means I am paying a lot money for ink cartridges that I never can use.

Multi functional but fussy on INK – This printer is ok but is one of those that requires you use HP ink ONLY. So despite the fact I have an ink cartridge that is made for the printer the quality of the print has gone down hill. up to sense the correct cartridges have been installed?? As soon as there is a sale on printers somewhere I shall be purchasing a different brand!! Update: although the ink cartridges are full it now has an error message and will not even work due to the problem. I will be purchasing a Lanier - laser printer shortly. Multifunctional easy to understand directions. Will not work with other brand ink cartridges.
