DO NOT BUY HP PRINTERS! – DO NOT BUY HP! Hp are now updating the software on their printers. If you refill you cartridge, the printer will recognise this and will not allow you to use it. After so many years using their products they are basically putting their middle finger up to their customers to squeeze even more money out of them. Please do your research and ask the… Read more
refill places at your shopping center/mall. I am really disappointed with this company and will never buy hp again. The ink is worth more than gold if you buy cartridge new.
I will never buy another HP printer ever again – Slow. Persnickety. Unreliable. The Windows 11 drivers kept losing contact with it, requiring it to be reinstalled again and again to work. Constant paper jams when filled to capacity with paper, or when low on paper. Refused to work with non-HP cartridges (illegal in Australia). No scan-to-email ability, which all its comparatively priced competitors have. Requiring you to install HP software on every device you wish to use it with. Show details
HP not the printer for you! – Firmware updates have locked you out of the ability to use cheaper non genuine inks from other manufacturers. Clear money grab by HP. Does someone have Canons phone number handy? Show details
It's a piece of crap – It spends more time installing updates than it does print. You cant even use generic cartridges to refill ....the printer won't accept it. Waste of money. So frustrating. Show details
HP have now made it so that you cannot use ANY non-HP print cartridge. DO NOT BUY – After years of using and recommending HP products, they have completed a firmware update on my printer that blocks you from using any non-genuine printer cartridges. (Details are on a chip on each cartridge). Not only are HP cartridges horridly overpriced, but they are not re-fillable or environmentally friendly. So the $60 I just spent on… Read more
cartridges goes down the toilet along with the purchase price of the printer. WILL NEVER PURCHASE HP AGAIN.
Really gone downhill in quality from prev model – Used to love the HP range, bought this as an upgrade but could tell immediately they've cut corners to save money - build of printer is all light plastic & feels cheap, screen has changed from colour to monochrome and is clunky to use - worst of all the printer is unreliable - sometimes when you need to print in a hurry (like first thing in the… Read more
morning when the printer has not been used for hours and hours) it will say "oh yes! this is a perfect time to do maintenance!! just sit back and wait 2 mins please while I carry out some maintenance before I print!" and this is NOT an unfrequent occurrence! - every now and then it will just flash an error code on the front screen and not work unless you power cycle the printer - this is with latest software Print quality is OK but not amazing. Next printer I'm changing brands
One of the better printers we've had – We purchased this printer in June 2017 after our previous printers (Canon and Brother brands respectively) only seemed to last about a year. We've been happy with this printer, we've found it easier to set up for wireless printing and more reliable than the last 2 printers we've had. And it's still going well after 2 years The only issue we have… Read more
had is that it won't accept the Calidad brand cartridges even though they state that they are suitable for this model. Other than that we would be happy to buy HP brand for our next printer.
Worst printer! – Glad to see this printer has been discontinued. It's the worst one I've had in 30 years! Takes up to 10 mins to print something because most of the time is spent troubleshooting beforehand! Cartridges barely cover 100 prints and I keep getting a message that I'm low on ink with my supply levels showing at half full. And you're saying you've only RECENTLY 'been made aware of vulnerable issues'?! Won't be buying Hewlett Packard again. Show details
Not good for photo printing – The 6950 is lousy for printing photos, my previous HP was great for photos but this one is atrocious, I have had to give up on it and will buy another replacement brand. Now having to go to a shop somewhere to get a decent print of a colour or black and white photo. Show details
worked for one year! – My printer will not print. It says that it is low on ink but I have just bought new cartridges and they will not work. It was fine until the warranty ran out! Now I have brand new ink cartridges that I cannot use when I buy a new printer. I doubt whether I will but HP again Show details
Money sink – Print quality I would rate 3/5. Scans I would rate 4/5. Print speed about 2/5 once the printer has gone through it's start up cycle. Problem is if you only print about say once a week, the printer goes through a very long print head cleaning cycle. I print about 4 Excel spreadsheets a week and got about 4 months out of a set of HP OEM 300 page… Read more
cartridges. That is about 64 pages. The other 236 pages of printer ink got dumped going through the cleaning cycles. Even if you mainly print black text it burns through the colour cartridges too.
Do yourself a favour and if you only print about once a week or so and don't need colour buy a Monochrome Laser.
Started off good and then – Worked beautifully until just after the warranty ran out - it stopped copying, then stopped printing PDFs, all very weird. The toner levels were fine but in desperation I put in new ones and that seemed to fix it until a few weeks later when it stopped working again. This time I cleaned the printer heads about a zillion times (well at least 12)… Read more
and now it prints / copys sometimes but not all the time. Very disappointing indeed I have to say. Oh and the four pack value pack of toners costs more than the printer did.
Warning - blocking generic ink – Decided to replace the printers ink with good quality generic ink from a provider with a good reputation, due to the cost difference being $60 vs $134 for genuine XL cartridges. Installed the black cartridge, it said 'Cartridge Problem', tried another cartridge, had the same issue. Fine as soon as you insert the genuine cartridges back in. I… Read more
thought that HP had stopped the whole blocking generic ink thing - never again will I purchase a HP printer!

Worthless Time Consuming Piece of Junk – Took me 2 hours to be able to download all of the bloatware that HP assaults your computer with just to use a basic function. Print quality is super average for the price of this so called 'office' printer. I would honestly rather a $30 Kmart printer over this, I've had less hassle with them. Will not at all connect to my windows PC wireless either. Show details
Great multi function dual page printer – I was after a basic print, scan, copier to replace a 9 year old HP printer & decided on this due to the great price even before the Hp cashback & my partner had purchased one for her workplace, which she was happy with except for how quickly they seemed to be going through cartridges. It is a significant improvement over our old printer. It… Read more
prints quality dual pages very quickly. Scanning function is easy to use, although I have had to control it via the small screen on the printer, unlike the old printer where it could be done on the computer. So far have not been able to find a way around this. Wireless printing from mobile or pad is quick & easy and the remote online printing function is fantastic.
Print cartridges arent exactly cheap but because of feedback from my partner & on line I have stocked up on some black cartridges, also at a good price with Hp cashback. We do not do a lot of printing & after 2 months are still on the original cartridges.
The only aspect I do have a bit of an issue with is the maintenance process that it sometimes goes though upon start up. It hasnt happened very often, so I havent found it too intrusive, but today it did take a while to complete. I wasnt in a hurry, but I can see how frustrating it would be if you just wanted to do a quick print job.
Highly recommend as a good cheap home printer, mind you like all printers now days it costs nearly as much for the first set of cartridges as the initial price of the printer.
Never again!!! – Although the cartridges are not extremely expensive (because of that 2 stars), the rest is not good at all. I use this printer around twice a week and it never prints out the pages with vivid colours. Last week I bought new cartridges (brand new ones) but so far I couldn't print out one single page without problems. When I choose black and white,… Read more
it ends up having big horizontal lines on the paper where the letter are gray, other the letters are black. Let alone printing out with colours! And before you think that cleaning your cartridge filter in the cartridge slot is going to solve the problem, my answer is: yes for 1-3 weeks, after that, you'll clean them and it will continue not printing out with good quality.
HP 6950 Printer - Repeated Ink Blockage - Wastes expensive inks – I've had the printer 2 weeks and I've run the Printer Maintenance (ink jet clearance) 6 times so far and jettisoned one blue colour cartridge. Fails to print blue due to ink jet blockage. Eventually clears but wastes a great deal of expensive ink in the clearing process. I've replaced the cartridge but a few days later, blocked again. Wish I'd never bought the printer - now the hassle of dealing with HP support to return the product. Show details
Always have to run printer maintenance – Printer OK but everyday I have to run printer maintenance and waste more ink! They are genuine HP cartridges but I guess its their way to make more money out of you Show details
Not fit to be called All-in-one – I am satisfied with this device as a printer and scanner. The printing quality is good, it is pretty fast, and it rarely jams. The scanner is slow, but adequate. But what I find i'm possibly is the fax machine part of the device. It frequently disconnects and breaks down even though my phone line is perfectly fine. Oftentimes, when I try to fax… Read more
something, the machine will freeze, not allowing me to cancel it. I then try to shut it down, and it'll freeze doing that too!
Unfortunately, HP support has been absolutely no help with this. They can only offer asinine solutions like restarting the device (which, as I've noted above, it itself a problem) or to check my fax connection.
If you are after a reasonably priced printer and scanner, I think that the OfficeJet 6950 will suit your purposes. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it as a fax machine. Hopefully no one really uses fax anymore anyway!
Lemon – Brought a Lemon, error can't get it to work, after all troubleshoots Error 0X6100004a, web site no help, my computer can read the printer, but won;t go pass the error code. Taking it back tomorrow, going back to my old cannon printer at least it works. Show details
Good printer, keeps cleaning itself – As above, good printer, but If I don't use it for a couple of days, it goes through this lengthy cleaning process. It's a pain when I want to scan something without printing it. Show details
A printer I can't live without – I recently purchased this HP printer from the Nunawading Store since it is Wi Fi, which makes it easier for me to print from my phone, the price was excellent because I got it for $20 since they traded in my old Epson WorkForce 2650 All-In-One Printer and I am very impressed with it because it prints things really fast, which saves me heaps of time. Just love it – I recently purchased this HP printer and it works really well, it is Wi Fi so I can print from my phone, the price was good and this is my second HP in 10 years the other one still works but I got a new computer so I decided to get a new printer can not fault it highly recommended Show details
Can’t live without it – Best ever , simple printer easy to install via instruction and u tube videos and for price very professional print contain , by far the most smartest purchase I have made all year . Only con is cartridge prices (100 ). Hp is so professional whisper quiet , and scans awesome trust me you won’t be dissapointed Show details
Great Printer – Very easy to set up, everything is done for you remotely and without any hick ups whatsoever. So far it seems very economical to use. The touch screen responds nicely to even the slightest brush of the finger. I like the ADF and double sided print feature and it's overall compact lock. Show details
Excellent printer and the 2 sided printing saves so much time – I bought this printer when my previous Epson died because the printer driver would not allow the thing to work after I started using none Epson ink cartridges to save money. Irritated by the Epson approach I reached out to the ink supplier to recommend a printer and ended up with the HP Officejet 6950. After many months of use I love this… Read more
thing, double sided printing, clear output, reasonable ink usage and a clear menu. Great I'm glad that I have this printer
Somewhat disappointed – I am Disappointed with only 300 dpi scanning I need 600 dpi minimum. Also printer always seems to be "cleaning". The colour printing is not as good as a cheaper Brother printer. I agree about ink levels. The indicator on the printer does not agree with the indicator on my computer. Show details
Good starter printer for an office – I bought this computer for my home office and it is a good choice for one that's not too expensive and does a good job. Setup was a bit confusing but once that is done it works great! I have not had any issues with paper jams which is such a bonus. Show details
Not bad printer but the alert to low inks is poor and checking the ink levels is time consuming and – The printer prints are ok but the low ink alert is very poor. It does not shut the printing down or show the level of the inks on its screen or the computer screen. To check the levels it is necessary to go into 'control panel', 'printers', 'check printer' and then 'ink levels'. The indications are also poor as they show ink when they are empty.. … Read more
I recently had a black ink cartridge that only printed 50 pages whereas the original did over 300 pages of the same document. It was a genuine HP cartridge made in Malaysia bought from Tonergear. Tonergear were not interested in it and trying to contact HP was nigh impossible. I have a 16 years old Canon which is far better than this HP product. To make matters worse the cartridges cannot be refilled. No more HP for me.
