Bad for the environment. Won't take refilled ink cartridges – Disappointing. The check for updates switches on and the printer will no longer take refilled ink cartridges. Have to use new HP cartages and they are expensive. Come on HP time to get onboard to help the environment and allow refilled cartridges. Show details

Terrible user experience – Has to be the worst printer I have ever owned, had a huge Canon before this and thought that was bad, this is worse. Okay, print quality is good, but the user experience is horrible. Constantly looses it's settings on the wifi and has to be re-installed. The IP address never changes. but after a couple of days any PC connected to it complains its… Read more

off line. Spends more time doing maintenance than actually printing, and wastes lots of ink as a result, totally emptying all high capacity carts in about 100 prints.

Big and bulky, wish I had my very old laser printer back.

Absolute piece of crap – Scanner works well, however upon changing the printer cartridges with genuine HP cartridges the printer does not recognize the cartridges. Upon checking multiple times whether they have been installed properly it seems that this is a common issue with this model. Not happy at all. Show details

Don`t buy it – This printer consumes printer toner like a 60 tons truck consumes fuel.... And only problems all the time to get an okey quality of the documents. Bought new HP original toner and succeeded to print 1 ( one ) picture of 10*15 cm. the second photo did not print correctly and shortly after it warned on low toner again... Sadly to say - a piece of junk printer.... Show details

Ink leaks & pools to the right & over time your print head stops working – Avoid HP printers, they are badly designed or designed to fail from what I found out from youtubers after I did some research because of this unit broke down only after 2 years of minimal use, so you basically have to go buy a new one. We bought this All in One Printer for our mother in law 2 years ago after reading good reviews. Recent reviews… Read more

of this product is so bad in comparison. Something funny going on there... It was ok, not great, until a "Printerhead Problem" error message popped up. It wouldn't let me perform maintenance etc. I lifted to have a better look inside around the ink cartridges. Where the printhead rests when the printer goes off, there was a pool of ink everywhere. Some people had luck after spending money to cleaning where the ink cartridges sit but some had to pull it fully apart to get under the printhead and cleaning that and some had no luck at all. Now even if we perform this above average skill level task, it's going to leak and clog up the printhead again in the future. One youtuber said he's leaked because the ink chamber has plastic glued over it and over a couple of years of normal use it comes apart leading to leakage. This is definitely not a design fault but purposely designed to fail. I repair a lot of things and I'm seeing a lot of today's devices built this way. I feel extra bad because I recommended this product. Some people are going to say something like you get you paid for but I've spent a large amount on a laptop "once" thinking I wouldn't run into problems but I did. Checkout the headaches I had wit MSI and their badly managed repair dept. I wasn't even complain to he's superiors because all phone numbers in Australia went to the same person. We own an older Canon and it's still going strong.

Not great – Worked once or twice after initial set up. Then lost internet and have not been able to join back to the network again. Brought and connected through a USB - USB B cord. Managed to print one document then would not budge printing any more docs straight after that. Threw the unit off a 2nd story balcony. Show details

Don't waste your money – Whilst this printer is easy to setup and scan documents, the actual quality of the machine is questionable. We are onto our 2nd 6960 printer in under 2 years, as our first one stopped connecting properly to our network. With this second printer we have just replaced all the cartridges with genuine HP inks and now the black ink won't print… Read more

properly. We have followed the steps to clean the cartridges, printed 10's of pages of test pages and still not working properly. Will take back for a refund and get a printer from a manufacturer who actually cares about the quality of their products.

This printer is crap – It doesn't matter how good the printouts look when you can't connect to the printer. Printer is assigned an IP address by the router. Printer can be pinged by the router. Printer can be pinged from the computer (Windows) Printer refuses to be connected to by the computer for printing. Restarting the printer fixes the issue. Why do I have to restart the stupid printer all the time! Show details

steer clear – HP in April 19 upgraded the firmware it's now rejecting non genuine cartridges (that were in the machine working)....had to buy genuine errrr now it still doesn't print clearly in 300dpi or 600dpi....only 1200 which of course uses more ink ummm good way to use up your ink quickly???me smell profiteering b4 you ask...I did you clean the head and… Read more

the general maintenance even the test print and they were very clear though not when you do images and documents. Agree with MELBRY21 constant maintenance every time you need to print You are unable easily remove the print head without some technical background...a must for when the machine hasn't been used for some time time to invest in a Laser

This is a piece of garbage - don't waste your money (and time) – This is literally the worst printer I have had in 20 years, and I have had some pretty cheap ones. To start, it won't print even the most mundane job without glitching out multiple times. A five page document with no graphics? Sounds like it should be a simple task. I have been trying to get it to print all five pages for the last thirty… Read more

minutes. Heaven forbid I try a larger document (like 20 pages). That would be an afternoon feat. And to make it better: I bought into the HP program for printer ink (so I pay per page for jobs). This is a super big scam with this printer as it will reprint the same five pages of the 20 multiple times even after cancelled... which is big money for HP and a waste for me.

Needing constant maintenance – What is the point of having it connected to wifi? Constantly having to go up and down stairs cause it needs maintenance, printing blank sheets, reconfiguration, 5 minute prints, etc. To many problems to list! I pay for instant ink program with it, so I loose tons of prints. It will counts as a print when I initiate a print, even though it does not print.  Show details

Printer spends 5 minutes doing 'maintenance' to print one page of paper – Print quality etc is great. Introductory cartridges all ran out after no more than 50 sheets of paper (disappointing!) My pet hate with this printer (which I always leave on or asleep) is that you'll ask it to print, it will wake up, and then proceed to spend 5 minutes doing 'maintenance' before printing that 1 sheet you asked for. Why can't it… Read more

maintain itself periodically/overnight? Very frustrating to wait, not knowing how long it will take. It's not quiet while it's doing it, either.

More trouble than it's worth – I purchased this printer January 2017 and had no end of alignment problems with it. After countless hours on the phone to HP tweaking settings and trying this and that all to no avail, they eventually decided that they would replace it (yes, it was indeed a lemon). In November 2017 I received a replacement printer (also an HP OfficeJet Pro 6960).… Read more

This one needs the print heads cleaned each and every time before I print, or else it just won't print... and 'yes' I use genuine HP cartridges. Never again, I'm ready to throw this one on the verge when junk collection next comes around. Very disappointed. Needless to say, I would definitely not recommend this printer.

Doesnt work – I bought the HP 6960 at Best Buy in early 2018. It worked ok until around Sept 1 2018 when all of a sudden it quit printing. The black ink was low but not empty and the color cartridges were nearly full. Since the printer would not work at all I replaced all of the ink cartridges with new HP ink. Printer still does not print or copy anything. I… Read more

sounds like it is printing and the paper comes out blank. I ran the clean printhead several times but still nothing. I have had a few HP printers over the years and never really experienced any problems, but this printer just wont print no matter what I do. I would not recommend this printer.

Worlds Worst Scanner – Printer seems to work ok (however the ink cartridges are super expensive) But this has to be the worlds worst scanner. It doesn't link to my computer properly so each and every time I have to scan something I need to fiddle with it for around 1/2 hour. Then it doesn't scan properly. I end up with 3 pages with half scanned to one page and the other… Read more

scanned to the other page. I just want to scan a birth certificate yet with this machine thinks its way to hard. I would never purchase this again. Don't even get me started on the paper feeder. What a waste of space that is. Never again. I'll stick to the Epson.

Great Printer – It prints, it scans, it copies and all very well. I was a bit worried at first about not being able to see the paper, but the touch screen tells me when it's run out and I just reload and carry on. No jams so far and it seems to be reasonably robust.  Show details

Beware Won't Play with MacBook – This printer won't talk to my macbook. Constantly get Printer is not responding messages and have gone through all the instructions on HP forums to try to fix it and none work. It's 2 months old and going straight in the bin. Very very unhappy and after years of buying HP Printers will not be purchasing another.  Show details

Cheap printer, cheap quality, expensive refill – Rather dissapointed with this purchase. The staff at Officeworks recommended us this printer for economical ink usage and great quality colour compared to laser printer. After 20 odd pages, the ink is out and we have to purchase a new set of HP ink which cost $80! And after 2 months of unfrequent printing, the printer is again low with ink again.… Read more

At the end this machine is costing us more for less printing quality.

The machine also does self maintenance and it takes a long time to wait for it to finish. Sorry for the bad review, this machine is a let down for us.

Stunning Quality Printer at a Reasonable Price – This is a great printer: the quality is well above average and the cost of toner, while not cheap, is lower due to less usage per printed page. It functions well and has the wifi function so everyone on the network can print. This thing will print a few thousand pages before something goes wrong. Still a shame that the refurbished cartridges usually do not work. It looks nice and is quiet (not silent!) when it prints.  Show details

Easy setup, low ink costs – I picked up one of these last week primarily because it had all the features I wanted and one of the lowest cost per page printing costs I could find. Overseas reviews were positive although there's nothing in Australia it seems - I can't even find the printer on HP's Australian website. Setup was easy and I had no trouble finding the printer… Read more

from my two MacBooks and an Android phone. I can also email documents from outside the home to the printer to be printed which is a nice feature. Print quality is good although I haven't tried photos yet. I like that there's only one button on the front and all other functions are operated from the screen, as opposed to the Epson which is festooned with buttons.
