Erratic, difficult to troubleshoot, highly unreliable! – This printer is great and good value for money with all its extra functions. Prints well enough however it is the most difficult thing to troubleshoot. I believe it's a software problem, not the hardware problem. I can never get the printer to restart properly after any issue I encounter. From years of owning this printer, the printer will get… Read more
stuck and not print at all after (1) changing the ink cartridge, (2) accidentally not having enough paper in the paper tray, (3) If I delete the task from the task tray on my desktop, (4) If I try to pause or stop the printing at any time. It is highly erratic and difficult to restore or resume to the previous task once anything, and I mean anything at all, disrupts it!!!! It's highly frustrating!!!!
Updating the software, reinstalling the software, and restarting the printer has done little to fix the problem. It only starts working when I no longer need it to work. I often have to pray for a miracle to happen and nothing ever happens.
Horrible printer and I will never go back to a HP printer after this one. Note: My parents and friends have HP printers and they all encounter the same problems as I do. They also have multifunctional PSC printers. Maybe it's just the PSC range. Affordable, multifunctional Software is highly erratic, always stops working, highly unreliable
Compact and versatile printer for home use – Have used this all-in-one printer regularly since purchase in September 2005. It has performed very well throughout that time. Having a stand-alone photocopy facility (i.e. didn't need to be connected to the computer) was one of the reasons I bought it as well as the fact that it had a small 'footprint', taking up minimal space compared to… Read more
similar more bulky printers. I would happily buy another of the same maker with similar features. Can photocopy without being connected to a computer; compact size; very well priced; scans and prints; not too bulky; good software for the computer. Nothing for home use. If you wanted it for business, then the print time and copy time might be considered a bit slow.
Good – I know it's just a printer, but I LOVE it! I've owned several canon printers, but I'm a convert to HP. And after a $20 cashback it only cost me $50.00. Sweet. The print quality is excellent, it's easy to use and comes with useful software and in draft mode it's FAST. The best thing is that, unlike a lot of printers, the draft mode produces… Read more
excellent results. I use draft mode as my default setting. My only (small) issue is that when in draft mode it grabs the paper so fast that sometimes it goes in a bit crooked.
A good all round multifunction centre – I have had this Hewlett Packard printer for at least a year now, and have been reasonably impressed by its general all round ability as a printer, scanner and copier. Naturally, given its entry level price it's note expected to print, scan or copy pages at lightning speed, but it does its job well without too much hassle. The 2 main issues that… Read more
stand out in my experience are the flimsy nature of the paper tray - I broke the component that catches the paper as it finishes printing and expecially when in draft mode, the paper shoots through so fast that it'll often fall off the tray. Also, the unit has the disadvantage of a tricolour print cartridge, meaning that costs of replacing cartridges can be high (although I don't usually print in the highest quality settings.) It prints photos well for its price, and as long as you're not scanning a page from a bulky book, it scans well also. Well worth looking at if you want something cheap. Relatively compact size, performs well for the low price tag Build quality a bit below average, no separate colour ink acrtridges
Excellent – I think this all-in-one printer/scanner/copier is fantastic. It does everything I want it to. It is not overly noisy, print quality is good and it copies/scans well. Draft mode is very quick (too quick sometimes...the paper is fed quickly and occasionally gets caught) and is still quite good quality. I recently printed a photo and it looked… Read more
pretty good actually (don't even own a photo colour cartridge...just used the normal colour one).
I found the HP software a pain, so I just used the scanner facility in Windows XP.
The replacement ink cartridges are pretty expensive - but which companies aren't! I find genuine replacement cartridges online to be the cheapest. I might need a new colour once a year and a black twice or three times a year maybe. Great value for money. Good all-in-one. High print quality. Nothing to complain about.
Good – have had my priter for about one year and have already used two refills. with not all that much printing work is a very handy device. printer at a good quality and is very cheap to buy the ink cartriges are a little to expensive
Excellent – It is all I need in a printer. When you consider that I have two kids that are always printing stuff out (drives me nuts, and costs me more in paper than ink!), it's a really good deal. Great little printer. I have found the copy function really handy on a number of occasions. Scan and print quality is really good also. We do a moderate number… Read more
of printouts, printing photos, text, web page printouts etc, and have found the print cartridges to be very economical. They last quite a long time and are not too expensive to replace (when compared to other brands) The software isn't that great. I ended up uninstalling and using XP on my PC for scanning.
OK – Wish I'd checked the cartridge prices before buying. I phoned HP to ask if they had any plans to produce a larger capacity cartridge which would be better value for money. The original black cartridge contains 5ml ink - about a teaspoon full - for £12.99, daylight robbery! Am considering selling my printer! Compact and easy to use. Nice print.… Read more
Cartridges overpriced. Printer doesn't like compatible cartridges!!! HP effectively enforcing you to buy originals at horrendous prices!
