I have a hyundai i30 Active car purchased new in 2019, but since the last update of the navigational system I do not get verbal alerts from the navigational system. The hyundai service centre here in town, who did the update with the service have told me they do not know why this has happened, so the problem has not been resolved. The purpose of purchasing the car was to have a reliable car with verbal alerts. Is there anyone in the hyundai community who can help me out with this problem please. Thanks Doug

Hi Dian, I hope you're doing well! If you have a moment, it might be helpful to reach out to Head Office. You can let them know that their role under the warranty is to address your concerns, and it’s worth mentioning the Ombudsman as well. It’s good to highlight that these issues are known for this particular model. If you feel it’s necessary, don’t hesitate to escalate the matter further. I really hope this advice proves helpful to you! It’s the only way I’ve been able to have anything rectified.

Thankyou Jason for your reply. When you say 'under warranty' what does this actually mean please? Regards Dian

I have a 2014 Hyundai and this morning while parked in my driveway it randomly started a loud beeping and flashing it's headlights for a few moments then would stop and repeat after about 10 minutes. I don't have an alarm fitted??

I have a 2020 built NLine with the DCT transmission. I previously had a Golf GTi with DSG gearbox. When I drove a demo NLine the gearbox was well behaved. Have now had the NLine for nearly 4 years and 31K kms I have found the DCT very frustrating to drive particularly from rest. Whilst it does not happens everytime it will jerk/shudder when accelerating from rest. I have tried to isolate when it does this and when it doesn't and it appears to be associated with the engine revs being low when it is at normal operating temperature I.e. it does not do this when cold and revs are slightly higher. Is this normal?

Something worries me about my Hyundai wagon i30 2016 . With puling up early in the morning it fibrate for couple of seconds , stopping for a stoplight and puling up again, no vibrations any more for the rest of the day driving. It happens only with the first start in the morning, could it be that the automatic gearbox it still cold ? Something others is wrong? If somebody can gif my an idea pleas what is wrong or not to worried. Thank you Jerry Vogelsang

2019 hyundai i30 active pd2 hatchback. Eco mode when I press the eco modto drive in it. It stays in but then the next time I start my car the eco mode light is turned off. I have to press the button. For it to come back on... is this normal does anyone's else's eco button turn off. Should the eco button stay on while driving and if u turn car off should it come on.....

Sen T
Sen T

Mine is the same, I raised the issue to dealer and Hyundai head office according to the manual it should stay. But their answer is not helpful, like, "don't bother me" even I copy the page to show them.

Mon
Mon

Thank you for that reply yes I thought it should stay on as the 2016 models stay on. And manual says it should stay on.... I have read on some pages it turns off if u have a heavy load or accelerating hard doesn't make sense I should give the dealer a call and ask about that. If yours is doing it maybe it should turn off.

Coz normally once u press it it should stay on all the time do u have a 2019 model.....

How do u know if the navigation is updated. Thanks for reply

Hi, I have the i30 elite sedan. Recently serviced, now I cannot get the digital speed reading to display. I can get the compass up, then scrolling down get everything bar the speed screen.

Give them a call. I've heard on the newer ones software updates can be problematic. They may have a quick fix. Sure you're not the only one. Good luck. John

How is it should I buy it, how's the future of car if we compare it with Corolla

Elisa
Elisa

Hi Sukhi, I would prefer Toyota cars or consider manufactory engine warrantee with 10years. I learnt lesson now, in my opinion with 5 years warrantee it indicates Hyundai cars are not made for long, miss leading! Average household do not drive 200k within 5 years. Consumers need to know how to protect themselves by not fall into big corporations' sales pitch. Also if only offers 5 years, then no need to consider to service car at expensive dealership.

Regards, Elisa

The Toyota will be better, but if you only want it for 4 or so years, the Hyundai is fine, and it's much bigger inside and more comfortable. The Toyota may have better fuel economy though

Hi Sukhi, I can't tell you which one to buy as I do not own a Hyundai i30 and a corolla at the same time, what I am saying is, the free software upgrade when serviced at Hyundai dealer is a joke, not sure about Toyota's map upgrade policy and how good it is. One last thing, mine is i30 2.0L with conventional gearbox, there are recalls with the more complicated 1.6L dual clutch gearbox, so Toyota's CVT is very safe. Regards

Does anyone know how to turn off the speed camera alert alarm on a 2021 i30 Elite sedan? Have tried everywhere within Maps & Navigation settings but no luck. Selected “None” within one of those (when asked about camera alerts) but annoying alarm keeps sounding. Turning down volume doesn’t help; altering distance at which alarm sounds makes no difference. Surely it can’t be a permanent/un-changeable feature? On a highway where there’s “point to point” cameras detecting average speed over several kilometres, the alarm can go on for quite a few minutes.

Hi, I have an 2019 i30 hyundai, some how I have added the speed I am travelling next to the speed on the road I am travelling. Could anyone help with this. 1. It is annoying as the speedo on the dash and the speed on the navigational system are different by 3-4 km's per hour. 2. I don't know how to remove it as I don't know how I put it there. I would like to remove as I am finding it a distraction as there is a discrepancy in the speed. Thanks Doug

I have had my basic i30 hatch for a month. I know there are alarms connected so some features e.g. lane assist. However I have no idea what alarm belongs to what feature. I have worked out a couple but the rest of the beeps and pings are a mystery. I don't see any messages flash - besides the start up lights on the dash don't last for 3 seconds so I can barely read them anyway. Is there a way of finding out one alarm from another?

Rick
Rick

For me it was time and a curious dig through the manual. Same as you, at first it was a tad confusing with all the bells and whistles going off. The first couple of months was just getting used to all the Tech like cross traffic alert or blind spot collision warning.

The best thing I did was to just sit in the driveway, as the options can only be accessed with the engine running so wasting petrol, and go through all the buttons plus menus in the Entertainment System working out what I thought I'd like the car to do and what I didn't want (I didn't do this until after a couple of months of driving the car). Be a little prudent with fiddling with settings because some liked / safety feature may be adjusted to be too friendly or no help at all.

Some settings don't stay set after turning off the car so the next time I go to drive it I find LKA is always on, Brake Hold is always off, & driving mode is always normal. So each time I start up my i30 I'm turning off LKA, activating Brake Hold, and setting the driving mode to Eco. I haven't yet found a way to save these settings (probably I haven't found the right section in the manual).

One other very useful hint for fiddling with the car's settings. Some of the buttons can have a dual and even multiple personalities. Some buttons respond to both short & long press which will give a different response. Eg. Land Keeping Assist (LKA) to turn it off needs a long press of one of the buttons on the right hand group on the steering wheel. However, the same button using a short press will activate or de-activate Lane Following Assist (LFA). The tiny status "light" for whether each function is active for LKA & LFA is above and to the left of the speedo.

Others buttons can change their mode / personality depending what has been activated / deactivated. Eg. Cruise control when not active the SET and RESume buttons will SET a speed for the car to cruise at, while RESume will resume the set speed. However, when cruise control is active and is being used to hold the car's speed the same buttons change behaviour. So when SET is pressed it will increase the cruising speed while pressing and holding RESume will let the car coast like taking the foot off the throttle which will generally slow the car down then when the RESume button is let go the car will continue to cruise at the speed when the button was released.

Has anyone done an ECU/Air intake/Throttle response unit upgrade and if so what products? Thanks

verheijen

Interesting question. Why you ask? My brand new 2022 N line premium auto has a cold start issue where it sounds like it’s running on 3 cylinders for 30 secs during the choke period, and there is significant throttle response lag. I installed a little throttle controller in my other car an MG3 with a 1.5 naturally aspirated motor (that couldn’t pull the skin of a rice pudding) it had insanely poor performance. Makes a huge diff now. Throttle is on tap. And adjustable. Thinking of doing the same to the N line once they sort out the cold start / fuel ECU issue.

Hi verheijen, did you ever resolve this issue with the cold start up problem? I purchased the exact same model and I’m experiencing the exact same issue’s as you have mentioned. Looking forward to your response, thank you kindly.

Hi Fellow i30 owners I am struggling to understand why my 2013 i30 diesel hatch is using more fuel than the 2013 Tourer I had. It was unfortunate that my Tourer had been stolen and subsequently written off. I was so impressed with the fuel consumption ( 5.5/l/100klm = 750 - 900 per tank) I sought out another i30 from that year only to be gravely disappointed getting 7.1 - 8.8L/100klm = 450 - 650km per tank can anyone shed light on this issue and anyway it can be rectified

Hi. Need help please I just picked up my new 2021 i30 nline sedan premium on Friday, from aspley qld dealership. Driving home, while on bruce highway a beeping warning alarm sounds, but nothing on the dash to show why or whats wrong. Went for about 2 minutes. So when i got home, i disabled the lane assist, fatigue thingy, and how far im close to car ahead, then when driving to local shop, i was parked at lights and again warning alarm went of nothing coming up on dash, was just parked at lights turning right, nothing showing on the dash, went for about 2 minutes then stopped and didn't do it again. Can anyone help me please and suggest maybe what it might be so i can figue it out.

Did you ever figure out what this was? I just picked up the same car about a week ago and it did the same thing tonight. A bit odd there is no indication at all of what it's complaining about.

Tracey B.

If you havn't worked it out or for others in the future it is the map system giving you an alarm to things like school zones and speed cameras etc. I have mine on mute and the only way to know it is this is to have your map screen on because this will flash while the alarm is going. I have point to point speed cameras near me and it goes off the whole time so on mute I still can see the alerts if I have my maps on but not hear them. Hope this helps someone

I drove last week a customers car which use to be the dealers Demo car ,I believe the lane departure warning bell on the instrument panel is the noise that's the alarm ,I've remembered seeing a review on goggle cars guide about this alarm! And there is actually ment to be a way to turn off this alarm, try the steering wheel control buttons I'm thinking the buttons on right side of steering wheel near to the tyre pressure buttons

I have a 2016 Hyundai i30 which I absolutely love. The paint seal seems to be coming off on the rear door handles and the back of the hatch. Has anyone else had this happen? What can I do about it?
