Ikea Detolf Glass-door Cabinet
Verified4 reviews
Exploding glass door! – Being a lateral thinker, after I assembled the glass cabinet, I loosened the screws slightly to allow for expansion of the tempered glass during hot weather, but this made absolutely no difference. The cleanup took many hours as the tempered glass shattered into thousands of splinters, with most of the shards dangerously too small to see. You know, we tend to blame China for a lot of the rubbish they produce, but IKEA is just one of the many thousands of companies pushing them along. I will contact IKEA with my grievances, but after reading other customer reviews, I reckon it will be a complete waste of time. What makes it even more scary is that I purchased three of these cabinets, are the others just a ticking time bomb?
Purchased at IKEA NSW, Tempe for $99.
Exploding glass ! – Purchased one of these cabinets about 5 years ago and when we opened the packaging and pulled out the first piece of glass to assemble it the glass panel exploded in our hands . We had young children in the room and were just lucky they were nt injured . Shards of glass were imbedded in the walls and tv cabinet . Needless to say we were nt keen to finish building it so the whole thing went in the bin ! I m only posting now because just read that it happened to someone recently and they said it’s never happened before in australia .

Best cabinet you can buy for under $100 – I checked everywhere and could not find a glass display cabinet like this for under $100, in fact everything was over $600. This cabinet is awesome for home use. you can put your travel souvenirs in it or motorcycle helmets. There's no lock or downlight on this but you can get this option extra. I just installed a led light strip with remote in it and its great. The base and top are made of chipboard so i wouldn't use this in a high end shop but for home use its great.
