Sports - Camera great. iOS Software 2025 since update terrible. Too many gimmicks which don’t work well. Cant use iOS anymore the only way is instas 360 studio with a Mac now. They’ve taken away lock direction, going from bad to worse. I don’t want to travel with computer. So I ended up buying a later version go pro.
Follow-up · Mac software was always better for my use. But iPad is just out of control. It’s difficult to find the way for keyframes of which a crazy lot of them needed, all whilst the camera goes from one to other view thinking it’s smart to make silly abnormal distorted view angles automatically. 100% hate that I can’t just use one direction (On my glider & my arms - no tracking never worked) You see I’m using it for analytics not for fancy unusual fun videos. It’s for serious dangerous live action not just to show off what the camera can make fun of. But to focus on technique find mistakes to improve.
Purchased at Insta360 for $750.
Great shots & video, shame about the software – I have only had the camera a few weeks and have taken quite a few 360 photos and videos. In the desktop processing software they all look great. Nice crisp clear images and pretty well stitched together. however the operating system on the camera and the bluetooth gps remote and the iOS app - they get 0 stars which is why the overall review is not higher. First I was using the Insta260 ONEX app as recommended but I could just not get it to connect. The camera was connected to my phone as I was able to use the Dronedeploy 360 Walkthrough app. After much research, manual reading and tutorials I gave up and then noticesd the new Insta360 app so downloaded that and success....well about half the time and even then takes longer than you want it to to connect. As far as the GPS remote goes, am still trying to get it to connect :(
I feel like Insta360 is where GoPro was at with the Hero 3! Great images, but still lots of work to do to make it a not a frustrating experience.....

Faulty after 4 months, has to go to Hong Kong for repairs – I have had the camera for 4 months. Used it for about 3 hours and it is now faulty. The camera has to go to Hong Kong for repairs. Costs about $45 from Australia with insurance. I have today, been told what they think the fault is, and they have not identified most of the issues. I put on sticky lens guards myself (genuine guards) and their analysis of the faults is that the lens guards need replacing and they want to charge me for them with $20US freight. Insta360 do not have any stock of cameras, they only drop ship from China. Mine took 6 weeks to get delivered. They do not have any local return centres, repair centres and are very slow, or do not reply to emails. The most effective way to get them to reply to any issues is to go to the Insta360 ONE X2 & ONE X official community facebook site. I am trying to get my money back and will be getting a GoPro MAX from JB HIFI so if it has problems, I can take it back to them. I do not recommend this camera or company.
