Ionos

I had a very disappointing experience with IONOS. Several of my domains were suddenly cancelled without any clear explanation. Shortly after, I noticed that some of those domains were already registered by other parties. One example is my domain sendfiles.org, which I had registered through IONOS and is now owned by someone else. Losing domains without clear communication or support is extremely frustrating, especially when they are important for your projects or business. I expected much better transparency and customer service from a domain provider.

Because of this experience, I cannot recommend using IONOS for domain registration. I strongly suggest choosing a registrar that provides clearer communication and better protection for your domains.

I have been a long-term Ionos user, but a recent recommendation to a friend has turned into a catastrophe. What started as a "free hosting trial" became an impossible-to-cancel trap. Due to their support being US-based, scheduling callbacks failed repeatedly, and their chat system refused to handle cancellations. The situation escalated from poor service to gross negligence. After explicitly requesting to cancel only the hosting trial, Ionos support misunderstood and deleted the entire domain and all associated email accounts. Despite being told this was a "top priority" fix, the business has been offline for four days with no updates. This has caused significant professional damage and embarrassment. Avoid Ionos at all costs if you value your business uptime.

Contract is very questionable, if you want this internet service for the entire year otherwise do not sign up. They market their hosting and domain services as a '1 month cancel easy and at any time'. Not the case. You can cancel a number of serves they have tapped on as a suck you in for $1 then start upping the price. The domain component is a one year lock in. And then you'll start receiving messages from the CEO that "unfortunately due to price increases we have to up the service fees" and start hitting more fees, and have no way out of the contract for 12 months. If you try contacting them, they just respond with a you have a one year contract, and the live chat is not ever available, so that is just a good business strategy to show they are always available for technical and service. Unethical company, do not get sucked in to the 1 month cancel anytime advertising. You can cancel but you will pay it for the remainder of the 12 months.
