subscription, nothing. I continued to use V1, until V2 was released and I paid for a 'lifetime' subscription, thinking that I was 'buying' the program. V2 became V2.3, and I enjoyed the unlocked features. The V3.0 was released and the features I paid to unlock, became locked and my paid version is ADWARE for the new version. I contacted iTop, and I have not received a reply.

Downhill fast and not stopping – ---updated 27 April 2023--- I installed iTop on a new PC, and my code didn't unlock the later version. Older version is not available for download. I was offered a discounted off for the new version. I waited a week to hear from iTop Support, nothing. I search for free screen recorders. ---updated 4 August 2022--- I paid for a 'Liftetime' subscription, which included removal of a water-mark. V3 has just been released, I need to pay for this update, OK, but I paid for a 'Lifetime' subscription, not 'V2 Lifetime'. The watermark has re-appeared and I am being locked out of other features. I need to pay for another 'Lifetime'. I expect this will happen with V4 etc etc. Switching to Nimbus.

----Updated 28 January 20022---- The last update! Grrrr. iTop is taking too long to open, and is causing my laptop to crash. The previous version was good, this is needs constant re-booting. When it does work, I record a video, click on the stop icon, and it opens the file in Editing Mode. I would like to Stop and Start the recordings fast. I am recording meetings and I like to record each person in 2minute videos.

----Original---- When I first discovered iTop Screen recorder I was a beta-Tester. I submitted some ideas and they were implemented. I received nothing for my testing, not so much as a 1 month subscription or a Thank you auto-email. Since then it has been sold and bought, and iTop has disrespected their community. The internal upgrade links divert to a different website and company (iTop). The latest upgrade loses the use Preset capture windows and adds a massive watermark. previously the watermark was unobtrusive, but visible in the top right corner, now it is centered and is full width. It is less responsive and there is a 3 sec countdown before the video starts recording. It is slower, sluggish, glitchy compared to previous versions and Foss There is nothing on the website to suggest that these drawbacks are corrected by payment. The only consolation is the 'lifetime' subscription, ie a payment for ownership. This is currently $31.99 (reduced from $69.99, yes). But there are better programs/ browser extensions available for lower prices. If a one-time payment of $20, could guarantee all of these technical issues being resolved, esp the preset windows, I could give it 2-3 Stars. But there are 5 Star foss options.
