This unit is a fantastic time saver, worth every penny. I use it for sweeping up dirt and leaves from my driveway and path. I do not understand the negative reviews. I highly recommend the Karcher s4 Show details ·  4

For fit for purpose - for more than a few months! – I’ve now bought 2 (or maybe 3) of these over the last few years. Each time initially it works brilliantly then after only a few months the cogs start to lock, can’t push/pull unlock or anything. Husband buys a complete new wheel set (around £50) and off we go again, purchased in April 2022 - and now had 4 new wheel sets!!! Getting rather fed up… Read more

(and poor) as a result, he contacted Karcher who advised replacing the complete wheel set - AGAIN!! I use it for maybe 5 minutes a day around a tarmac yard picking up light stuff. Disappointing support/customer service from Karcher - and expensive. Usually their products are fit for purpose - this really isn’t.

Not fit for purpose – This is a terrible device that cannot pick up most leaves in an efficient way. Without a motor is just does not work. I know use my blower and sweep up the leaves manually and use the bin attachment as a collection device, ie I put the leaves in there to take it to the bin

Terrible failure – My Karcher pressure washers are great so I thought they knew what they were doing but sadly not in this case. It does work but after walking 3 or 4 feet the bin is full. You cant remove the bin without a heap of leaves falling on the ground. So give up on leaves. I have a dog who loves to help in the garden. I prune plants while he digs dirt...… Read more

and spreads it all over the path. The sweeper picks up two thirds of the dirt and puts the rest back on the path. I tried the patterned concrete. The sweeper picks up the dirt if you go over same spot 8 to 10 times. I tried the smooth concrete on the council pavement. The sweeper mostly kinda sorta worked a bit... except for the lines it left making the path look like a laned roadway for tricycles. In case you haven't understood what I'm saying.... this was a huge waste of money.

A broom does a better job – We live in a windy area and have a concrete outdoor area, that attracts a lot of leaves, grass that blow in. Also our dog contributes to the mess with his hair. A broom was fairly effective, but the wind would blow it all back before I had time to collect the pile. I remember one of the workshops I was in had a garage sweeper something similar to… Read more

this Karcher, and it did a good job, so I thought I'd invest in this product.

Bottom line is it's fairly useless. I've gone back to the broom and dust pan. Need a fair bit of speed to pick up anything and even then you have go back and forward over the same spot to pick up all the leaves etc. If you happen to tilt the device slightly backwards on it's wheels over an obstruction like a step, or pick it up to pack it away, the rubbish inside falls out onto the ground.

The concrete area has been painted with an epoxy paint and has some texture to it for grip. We also have a plastic drain cover around the perimeter of the area (along the retaining wall) which collects a lot of the cobwebs, grass etc. I was hoping the front brushes might pick up this debris and pull it up. But the front brushes of the machine are belt driven and the belt hasn't got enough tension, so as soon as there is any resistance, the belt slips and brushes just stop.

Also the retainer cap for the front brushes isn't overly effective. There is a twist cap that is supposed to lock the brushes in place. I've had the brushes fall off as I run the machine along the edge of the retaining wall. It's so easy to pop the retainer caps off. You don't need to twist them. The dog got hold of one of the brushes and ripped it off with ease. He then proceeded to chew the brush up. Cost me another set of brushes which isn't cheap!

The grass gets caught up in the side brushes, rather than get picked up inside the machine. After it gets enough build up, it flicks back onto the ground.

I have accepted defeat on it, will sell it and get what I can for it. I have just purchased a push along 1600 watt Ozito garden vacuum with a wide pickup head on it. Cost me less than $200 & has a 3 year warranty vs the $330 I paid for the Karcher. Hoping I have some better results with it. I think choosing once trusted, more expensive brand names isn't worth it anymore. Better off taking your chances on a cheaper less known brand. It's a cheaper gamble

Side note - I've had a bad run with Karcher. We also purchased a hard floor wet cleaner/vacuum that seized up just out of warranty. Pulled it apart and the electric motor for the roller had rusted up and seized. Had only used it maybe half a dozen times. The brand name used to have a good reputation, but like everything else these days, it's probably now manufactured on the cheap in China now. I don't think I will consider the Karcher brand again after these bad experiences. Both products were quite expensive.

Waste of money – The sweeper collects some leaves but mostly a line of leaves are left behind. Even going over the same area several times the leaves are just spread out. Doesn't matter if I can slowly or fast it does not do the job as advertised. Show details

Very happy with this product – I have dual large driveways bordering synthetic lawn, all become covered daily with large volume of leaf litter, twigs, bark and flower pods. I bought the Karcher this afternoon. The karcher worked well. It usually takes me around 2hrs to clean these areas….the karcher sorted it in 15mins!! The bin is a little on the small side and it drops… Read more ·  1

leaves when taking tight corners. Long straight runs work best. All seems sturdy enough…it will be interesting to see how long brushes last…they seem a bit light, but doing the job so far. It’s now Nov 2024 and the product isn’t working as well as initial review. Takes multiple run up and down synthetic lawn and still won’t pick up all the leaves….but for what it is designed to do (driveways/paths, it still does a pretty good job. Much quicker than a broom. It’s not perfect, drops leaves when turning corners, brushes are light weight, doesn’t feel heavy duty….but, would I but it again ? Yes I would.

Karcher S4 do not buy it its a waste of yr money . I should rent it out for a small fee and then ppl would know – Worst money ever spent ! I can do quicker better job with a broom and pan. Everything gets stuck in brush , falls out so you have to go at least 5 times over same strip and its still not free from leaves. Everytime i try to use it i get sooooo frustrated. The reviews on karcher s site must be paid for as i cannot find any positive. Even if it does… Read more

collect some debris at times and you go to empty it half falls out on opening the box and loads stays stuck in bristles. I cannot believe it is still being sold at $299 when $50 is too much for this piece of useless equipment.

Over priced Flimsy Cheap plastic construction Missing parts – Ordered this piece of cheap plastic from Total tools. Came fully sealed on time. That’s the only positive point. It came with parts missing. No nuts or bolts to attach the handle. The side bolt was loose and had fallen off the machine. On screwing it on the plastic snapped! All this for a $299 sweeper! Definitely not German as the name might… Read more

suggest. Rather a cheap piece of plastic that doesn’t do the job of a $5 broom! Called total tools and have been offered a replacement but not sure when!
