it might be the type of phone I have (because it isn't an iPhone 7) because the store itself says it will give that phone a 190% recharge, but mine charges my phone to about 80% then dies when I've charged the portable charger to 100%
I don't know if that would be faulty or if that's just because I've got a harder battery to charge?
Maybe a phone setting? Mine has an option to only charge to 85% to extend the battery life, but it applies to both slow and fast charge. But there can be different charging management for fast and for slow charging. Can you try it on a friend's phone to see if it's the portable charger that is faulty or not?

Hi. I have the 15000 mah and it shows on the screen that it’s charging, but it stays on 0%. I’ve only used it about 4 times. What can I do? I’ve lost the invoice.
How do you turn the torch on
Hi Kathy, press and hold the button the the top Right-hand side. Same to turn off again.
Thanks Neil
How do you know when it is charged
Seems to work fine while charging but when turned off the small blue light at the side stays on. Any ideas?

my portable charger has been working great the last few months but i recently got a scratch on it and now when i unplug it it instantly dies and when charged again it dies again when unplugged. What do i do???
Hi Benjamin, this sounds like the charger may be broken if this has happened since it was damaged - how long ago was it purchased?
Does the ankh portable charger from Kmart have a sticker on the front
No it doesn't, although there is a sticker over the display to imitate it being on, by showing what the numbers will look like. You remove that before use.

When i try to charge my portable charger it shows 188%, is it faulty?
If it only happens for a few seconds when you first connect to it, it is just a normal quirk. Mine does that too.
Hi Harmel, as this product's battery capacity provides up to 250% recharge based on iPhone 7, it may show over 100% to reflect this. Hope this helps!
this occurs while trying to charge the portable charger which shows it’s at 9% before plugging it in and then when i plug it in it just keeps flashing 188% and doesn’t stop
how do you use the light?
There's a small button on the rhs of the unit that you press and hold for a second. Press again to turn it off. If you short press it, it will show you how much charge is left.
Does anyone have a picture of the charging cable for the anko 8000 mAh portable charger please? Kids have lost mine. Thanks
Here's the cord you need. They are common, USB A to USB micro B. external link
How do I charge my portable charger 8000mAh i don't have a I phone connection
The unit comes with a short USB A to USB B cord. Plug the small end into the side of the battery unit and the larger end into any USB charger unit. There is usually a USB outlet on a laptop if you don't have a charger unit for your phone (but wouldn't you? Perhaps you are using cordless phone charging? But even that should have a USB outlet too ).
I got one of these today (it's a Tuesday), peeled the sticker off (as I would have thought would be the first thing to do), turned it on, and the percentage showed 58. That was at midday. I put it on charge, the little indicator started blinking and, four and a half hours later, it has increased to a massive 60%. The instructions say that it takes approximately 8 hours to charge. So, at that rate (four hours to charge by 2%), I should be ready to go by about ... oh, I don't know ... half past Thursday? At least, the sticker showed a true percentage. It's now 7 p.m. and the charge has rushed headlong to 70%. Blinding speed! Let's see, now. Midday to 7 p.m. = a 12% increase in power recharging capacity over 7 hours. WOW! STAY TUNED. I'm beginning to believe the bad vibes about it being a teensy-weensy bit unsuitable for the job it is supposed to do.
Not sure what the question is.... but the "58%" that shows initially is just the display waking up and isn't a true charge amount. You'll see it again when you connect it again. So it was probably low on charge being new and took a while to charge fully. The alternative is to design them to charge quicker, which makes batteries get hot and not last as long; so the long charge time is actually a good thing. It is not the sort of device that you would always need in a hurry, so having it be able hold its charge for when you do need it, is great. It should give you two phone recharges for one charge of the device. (Therefore allowing it to take twice as long as one phone charge is only fair.) (Fast-charge, heated battery ---> fast-discharge, poor condition battery.)
If that turns out not to be the case, then you'd better take it back as a faulty unit. (I don't work for Kmart or anyone; I just like things to work.)
Thanks for the reply. Wasn't a question as such, rather a comment on the apparent slowness of the charging operation. I'm not against the thing taking a fair while to get a full charge up -- obviously, it's safer if it does and better overall for its long-term use. Maybe it takes a while to "condition" the battery, as they used to say a while back. It being brand new, I'm prepared to give it a fair go to see how it performs. I like the numeric display, which shows how it's going, both getting a charge and outputting a charge. I started her up this morning and the number showed 70%. I'm now charging an MP3 player from scratch. See how it goes. Watch this space.
More ... used the charger a few times now on various electronic things. It seems to take a little more time to do its job, although, if it does do it, what's the matter with that? Happy with it. I've also bought its big brother, the 15,000mAh charger., which is being charged as we speak. Hope that one is just as good.
I have lost the Charging cable to my cylindrical portable charger, other normal chargers do not fit is there a description of the socket that plugs into the charger not the USB end.
Is your portable charger the same is the one this review is about (Anko 8000mAh)? If so, the cord is a standard USB A to USB micro (not USB C - which is the newer standard USB charging cord being used now).
They are still pretty common and your phone probably came with one, as does the Portable Charger. $2.99 at OfficeWorks for example: external link
Notice that the sides are tapered in, whereas a Type C is oval shaped. If your device uses a Type C input, you can buy a small micro- to- C adaptor cheaply too for when you are charging your device.
The large end goes into the charger and the small end into the phone to recharge the phone, then reverse that to recharge the charger... ie small end into the side of the charger and the large end into a mains powered USB charger. I hope that helps.
my anko portable chargerit is fully charged it is showing "0% out" any help? Margaret
My charger has read 50% for ages, so I plugged it in to get it up to full charge. It read '100%' after only a short time, which seemed hard to believe, so I left it in for another hour or two. Shortly after unplugging it, the reading went back to 50%. Does this sound faulty? (Have only had it for a year and not actually used to charge any device.)
It does sound faulty. Have you checked that it doesn't have a display sticker still attached to the screen. It is put there so it looks more alive when looked at in the shop. (Just a possibility, especially if 50% is there all the time.) Otherwise it must be faulty.
LOL, that's exactly what my son said! It didn't look like it, but when I checked more closely it was a sticker! It looks incredibly realistic, with the numbers appearing exactly as they do on the screen. Made me feel extremely silly :-( but glad to know that the device is not faulty.
Thank you this has helped me also!
I have just purchased the Anko portable charger - no other ID info except maybe key code 42899877. When I pressed the button on purchase the number 57 appeared. I connected it to mains power to charge it fully and it still says 57. There are no instructions. I have connected it to my phone and it is charging, but it still reads 57. It seems to be faulty. Can you help please.
I think you may be right. Mine increases the number as it charges. Another possibility... is it a sticker that has been placed over the screen for sales display purposes? I bought mine ages ago so I can't remember for sure, but I think I had to remove something.
Thank you very much for your reply, but there weren't any any stickers. I have just thought to try a different cord to charge it, but maybe back to KMart is the answer.
I have an Anko F004649 Portable Charger. The (torch) light is on and will not turn off. I have tried holding the button down, double clicking the button, and plugging the cable into both input and output. Nothing works. How do I turn off the light?
It can only be a faulty switch. Press and a short hold, turns mine on and off.
My unit has stopped recharging itself. After successfully topping up my iPhone I tried to recharge it using cable plugged into side port. I’ve tried different cables, pressing the on/off button, But the display remains on the “out” setting and unit doesn’t begin to charge. Any ideas?
I have the same issue! Have you worked out how to fix it?
Sadly no. I took it back to Kmart (without receipt). I explained my problem. Got a store credit and bought a replacement.
The exact same thing happened to mine just this weekend. I have only used it twice!
My power bank is not charging itself. I tried putting it on charge but its blackout. What should i do?
Are you connecting it to the charger via the small USB connection on the side of the unit? The cord is reversed to when you use it to charge another device via the larger USB outlets on the top. Check that the charger and cord can charge something else, such as your phone ok. If that works ok, then your unit must be faulty & needs returning. You could also try using another phone charging cord between the charger and the power bank of you haven't tried that already.
