Doesn't charge using solar. First time I used it was to go camping I charged it from the electrical socket and it managed to charge my phone from empty to around 50%. However the solar panels don't charge the device, I left it in a sunny spot for the whole day and it was completely flat, the next day I did the same with my phone plugged in and… Read more

still, it didn't work. Absolute rubbish and false advertising, definitely couldn't rely on this product in an emergency.

Initially it was great, so I rushed back and bought a second one. Both died within a week or so and I returned them both for a refund. What a shame, because this product could be so handy and convenient. Don't bother!

Dangerous rubbish. I’d give 0 stars if I could. I have a few of these. They never worked properly and BOTH are swollen. Show details

The battery looks like it’s expanding inside and I’m not sure if I should be concerned or not. The charger gets hot when it recharges, so I left it in my drawer and never used it again. Show details

I couldn't believe it a solar power bank charger and light for $19.00, so I bought one. How bad could it be? Amazing, fabulous light, a bit slow to charge the Samsung phone, but could do it in an emergency if you were stuck anywhere without power. Highly recommended 9/10 Show details ·  1

I think this could definitely be a little bit of a death trap – After recently pulling this device from my cupboard and noticing how much it seemed to bulge ended up at TPT's review above. Thought I'd see what happened if i tried to charge it. Well it "worked" but the bulge got so bad it split the case apart. At that point disconnected it and turned on the lights to discharge. And even as it discharged the… Read more

split just got worse. Need to find a local safe disposal for this dangerously poor rubbish K-mart put into our homes.

Not 5000mAh as stated – Compared to my other 5000mAh batteries this holds hardly any power, it doesn’t even charge my phone a quarter full let alone twice like the others. It is significantly lighter than any other 5000mAh battery on the market so my guess is that the capacity stated is a false claim. Show details

Seems OK but cannot get the torch to work? – The solar charging is taking VERY long (2 days in full sun). Is the torch the white panel with yellow squares or the blue bubble on the corner of the unit? The blue bubble works but not the white panel with yellow squares (maybe it is NOT the torch?) Show details

So disappointed – So disappointed my first one I bought in store seemed to work well on a casual basis but after only a few months it would only charge via the usb cord and not the solar and even then it would drain quickly when attached to my phone. I will be returning the remaining 3 I bought as xmas gifts which is such a shame as at first I thought it was brilliant Show details

Faulty Charger – A good idea, but poor quality control according to my experience and other reviews. The good things: Both light/torch functions work well, the torch is actually much brighter than expected and a very pleasant surprise. As a portable charger, it disappointed on my first use. The fully charged charger worked well at first, but only charged my device… Read more

with 2 bars of power. Even though it still had 3/5 bars of power lit up, it would not continue charging my device, however the light/torch functions still worked. I haven't had a good chance to test the solar charging features as yet, so I will attempt that and update my review with information about that later. I will most likely be returning this device due to it being faulty.

Useless – Charges for about 30 seconds then completely stops. Have tried everything to see if I can get it to charge, but no luck. Handy as a torch but definitely not as a phone charger unfortunately.

I think this could be a little bit of a death trap – I don't know the exact formulation of the internal batteries, in regards to lithium batteries, and their run away effect - where they explode and blow flames around like rockets, but this chargers batteries started to swell after a couple of months, and I have reasons to believe that it could set fire to the house or the car etc. The sides were… Read more

initially flat and now they have slowly bulged out by about 2.5 or so millimeters a piece.

The staff were typically unhelpful - at all levels, from the store, to the managerial to the online customer service etc., especially when telling them it's a 300 or so Km round trip to the store, and can they do an RMA or a postal replacement.

AND in regards to the issue of lithium batteries being dangerous goods, they ALL refused to find out who the person was who dealt with the national recall / dangerous products. They all refused to find out who the person is, to put me through to them, and or to take my number and have this person call me back.

Dodgy lithium batteries is a BAD issue. I discharged the batteries by running the light, until the power was exhausted, and then I posted a notice here and I also posted a notice with the government unsafe products dept.

https://www.productsafety.gov.au/contact-us/for-consumers/report-an-unsafe-product

This is an excellent video on the subject of exploding lithium batteries.
