short, so the clock has to live right next to a power point. The “nature sounds” are also something special. The stream sound was so strange that at one point I genuinely thought I had a plumbing leak. The birds sound like they have been recorded during some sort of avian emergency.

Then there’s the battery. It doesn’t stay charged for very long, and when it gets low, a mysterious voice suddenly announces “Battery low, please charge.”

The first time I heard this in the middle of the night, I genuinely thought someone was in my house. Nothing says “peaceful sunrise alarm” quite like being jolted awake wondering whether you’re about to encounter an intruder.

And when the battery dies, you have to reset the whole thing — time, alarms, radio settings, everything. So the clock essentially forgets who it is.

The FM radio was another adventure. The instructions were terrible, I couldn’t work out how to save a particular station, and the reception was awful anyway. The manual says plugging in the tiny AUX cable improves the radio sound. When I plugged it in, it disconnected the radio. So… technically, no more bad radio sound. Problem solved, I suppose.

And finally, the “sunrise” function. I was expecting a gentle, gradual sunrise. Instead, it’s more like “GOOD MORNING! HERE ARE SOME EXTREMELY BRIGHT COLOURS!”

After all of this, I returned the $39 alarm clock and bought the $10 one.

Save yourself the money. Buy the $10 alarm clock. It has one job, and apparently that is enough.

Don’t waste your money. The light comes on abruptly with the alarm and not gradually like a sunrise. There are 7 obnoxious colours to choose from and nothing remotely like a sunrise, it doesn’t even have the colour that is displayed on the box! The “nature” sounds are bad quality and terribly loud straight off the bat. This product does not gently wake you up. Kmart really missed the mark with this. Show details

I bought this sunrise alarm clock in-store, hoping it would gradually get brighter to wake me up gently. I tried everything to get it to work as advertised, but unfortunately it doesn’t. with gradually increasing light and soothing sounds, improving your overall sleep quality and mood.” Sadly, it does not deliver on this promise, so I’ll be returning it.

There is no ac power cord, only a very short (45cm) usb charging cable. The radio is only FM, no AM. Instructions for using the radio do not tell you how to stop the auto search for a station on the station you want ; as a result i could not get the radio to stop on any station it found, it only cycled through. if you have the night light on (even on very dim), so you would need to have it plugged in the whole time if you want the light on (which may not be possible unless you have a power outlet right next to where you have the clock).

There are 6 nature sounds and one beep-beep for alarm options. I can't comment on any gradual light alarm as the clock battery ran out before my set alarm time, with a voice telling me every ten seconds: "battery low. please recharge" which was lovely to wake up to at 5am. My children enjoyed it in the room next door, also.

Returning this for sure.

Absolute waste of money. They last about 3 days off a charge and that’s only using the radio for an hour total. The rest is just on standby. Want to make the battery last longer by turning it off during the day? Well, you’ll need to reset your radio, volume AND alarm settings because it’s like they have the memory of a goldfish. Great, except for the fact that you need to charge it every couple of days! Features are good but should be able to plug it in or put batteries in it. Says "battery low" in the middle of the night when it needs charging. Really annoying.
