This machine is a total disaster, it keeps tripping out on Overheat, it will be cheaper to bin it than fix it through the chat system. I tried all the usual unplug, wait, reverse, max 2 sheets, nothing helps. Looking at previous reviews there must be no quality control at all in the manufacture process G Jones

If you use the Lennox Shredder sparingly, it works well. I tend to err on the cautious side of less than 10 pages, and shred intermittently, so don't have a problem. It is not designed for continuous use or even for the two mins advertised! Used for short bursts and with fewer pages, it does its job well. Don't forget to oil it too, for optimum use. Show details

I purchased this 10 sheet cross-cut paper shredder for light home use in sept 2022. It's not had a lot of use, and only shreds 3 x a4 sheets 80 gsm copy paper at a time and really struggles. The overheat light comes on frequently, and it cuts out for maybe 15 minutes before it can restart. The discharge has been cleared, so no obstructions.

Disappointing – Very hard to use with single sheet and extremely noisy compared to previous ones I have had. Although purchased on line as new from a reputable retailer, it was obviously pre-used Show details

Disappointing – Suddenly stopped working. Was great before this. Only 2 months old and used correctly. Show details

Good quality paper shredder – I purchased the Lenoxx EC1018 when my previous, small $20 strip paper shredder finally stopped working after 2 years (can't complain as that was very good longevity). I wanted a larger capacity shredder and the Lenoxx shreds 10 A4 sheets of paper at once which is a time-saver. The motor contained in the lid section is sturdy (and quite heavy)… Read more

and the cross-cut shredding results in good document security. The shredder is very easy to use and the wastebin has a small clear window to enable checking the fill capacity. The unit has an overheat light and the motor will automatically cut out to protect the motor if the shredder overheats. The shredder comes with an instruction pamphlet and 12 month warranty. To avoid motor burnout, Lenoxx recommends shredding paper constantly for no longer than 2 minutes followed by 40 minutes switched off - so perhaps not suitable for a large, commercial quantities of paper shredding. However, for home office use the shredder is very good. Purchased online for $49.95 from 'Catch' whilst on sale, with free delivery.

Lemon – Worked once. Now only goes in reverse. Piece of junk really! Going into the bin now! Show details

Shredder performance – I have not used item yet. It says in booklet it operates for 2 mins then overheats wait 40 mins before using again. I have a mass of files to do and this is not ideal. Show details

Customer Service Makes All the Difference – I got this shredder some time ago and at first use it is a good shredder. Does what it is supposed to. Papers go in and out come confetti. So all was well. But some time after, it stopped working. Upon investigation I found that one of the gears got stripped possibly due to kids putting too many sheets at a time – not exactly a manufacturer’s… Read more

fault but still left me unhappy.

My initial thoughts were that I’d have to go out and buy a new shredder. But I thought maybe, I might be able to buy a replacement gear. So I searched online but couldn’t find the right one.

So in desperation I sent an email to Lenoxx that night, hoping they would be able to help me. I know they had got some poor service reviews from others in the past so I didn’t hold out much hope for this approach.

To my surprise, I got a reply the next morning. The person on the other end was Elise who after confirming a few details with me, located a replacement gear and sent it out to me, and now my shredder is up and running again.

But to end there would not do this justice, not only was Elise very helpful, but also prompt and professional in her dealings. She gave me confidence that Lenoxx would stand by me and turned me into a fan – just by her superior service approach. Kudos.

To me this is what differentiates a good company from a great one. Good companies just make good products. But great companies also know how to recover when their good products go wrong [and they will go wrong sooner or later just a matter of time as nothing is perfect].

A Shredder that works! – The Lenoxx shredder that I have just purchased replaces one from another brand that I note has now been discontinued. I wish it had been discontinued before I bought it! I obviously can’t have looked at the product reviews at the time of purchase. Anyway, all is good now. This Lenoxx one (Model EC1018) is a beauty. Whereas the old one would throw… Read more

in the towel if you asked it to chew up more than one sheet of paper at a time, this one will gobble up 10 sheets at once and ask if you’ve got any more. A great product purchased from Amazon and very well priced.

Love it – Does exactly what it said it would. I prepared groups of 10 pages and the started shredding! It didn't overheat and even shredded old business cards with ease. Not as quiet as I thought, but not unbearable.

Disappointed! – I bought this around 18 months ago and in fact rarely used this in home. The auto sensor is out of order now and the whole thing become a useless piece of junk!

Hopeless to own. No product support – Did not get a lot of work from this dud before it refused to work in forward auto. Am now up for another $100 or so for a replacement, but it won't be a Lenox product

DANGEROUS – WARNING: Be very carful of this item. This item nearly killed me by blowing up and fire coming from it.I had only purchased this item just over a year ago and had hardly used it.

It does everything it's supposed to – This is the second one of these models I've purchased. The first one developed an unfixable electronic fault, but that was after about 5-6 years of ownership, so I'm not complaining. My only quibble is that they recommend a cycle of 2 minutes on and 40 minutes off, which can make it very slow if you've got a lot of papers to dispose of.

Great machine, more powerful than the "industrial" ones at work – I've had this machine for around 4 years now and still going strong. I came online looking to buy another as a gift because their shredder only does strips which really isn't shredded small enough for me. Found these reviews and had to put my 2c in. I don't shred non-confidential papers like junk mail so that might be why mine has never jammed or… Read more

over-heated. The head is heavy though it has handles on the sides. You get used to it. The improvement I would suggest to the designers is to have a separate catch for the cd slot because I usually pour the paper shredding into the recycle bin. It means I have to fish the cd/card plastic out of the rest of the shredding before emptying. Otherwise I love this thing. Best purchase ever.

Terrible machine, no support – The machine only works in reverse, which means you have to hold the top of the machine upside down to feed it. As such the basket is absolutely pointless. It's dangerous as your fingers are very close to the mechanism. And there is no customer support. I'm not even sure a product like this is sold legally. But the company doesn't exist apparently.… Read more

Stay away from this product. There are products available where you can feed pages into. Lenoxx is pathetic.

Dangerous goods – Do not buy this thing. Mine broke 2 months after warranty expired with scary plastic grinding noise coming from it. When I looked inside, I found a high voltage electric wire hanging just millimeters from the cutting blades. This thing could kill someone and authorities should be notified. Not only a waste of money but also a serious health hazard.

Poor – Overheats constantly. Jams up constantly. Didn't get 3 months out of it. Light weight work. Still jammed up and laboured. Not impressed at all. Would not recommend to anyone at all

Terrible Product And Customer Service – I bought my Lenoxx EC1018 shredder through eBay, and through very limited daily use it broke down a few months shy of warranty. It struggles through the shredding, especially when staples are present. If sunlight was shining on the top panel, it would register as being full even when empty so constantly needed repositioning. I was told on the… Read more

phone by Lennox Electronics receptionist that I had 3 choices - [1] take it to a local service centre and pay their fees, [2] open it myself to see if it was a gear problem (this happens a lot with these machines I was told) and they could send me a new gear at a fee, to fit myself, or [3] if I paid for postage they would repair for free. I opted for [3] but when they received the product a different person called to say the repair was $45.00. If I add postage both ways at $20, the repair cost more than the machine itself. I would have not posted in the first place if I was initially informed an assessment would be made on repair costs.

The product is average at best - the customer service is abysmal. Avoid this company.

Waste of money – Mine died on first day. Never even got a bin-full. Might handle about 8 (NOT 10) at a time for a few goes at a time. Claimed duty cycle is only 2 mins - even that, I don't think so. Seems to dislike any cheap printed paper (eg junk mail) which sticks and blocks it up. Overload protection doesn't work, accidently put in say 12 pages or a staple and… Read more

the metal motor gear will strip the teeth off the plastic gear it drives. That's it - its stuffed. Not worth the return postage for warranty. Avoid.

Purchased in 2008 Now 2015 and it was Powerful – I purchased this for my Home in 2008 and it is the most Powerful Shredder I have come across for the Price, I recently "2015", Shredded enough Paper to Fill 2x 250 liter Recycle bins in one day and it did it like a trooper, The 22 Liter Bin that is under the Shredder does fill up quick, as most do, I would recommend not putting any more than 5 or… Read more

6 sheets of Paper in at a time though.

I loved this Shredder!

But I was just doing some Cleaning and had it sitting on a Bench and my Stupid Cat knocked it off and seeing the Top has a heavy Motor Split the Plastic and destroyed it. :(

Within 5 Minutes I was Scouring the Net to Get another one of the Same Model, and Purchased one, however I have noticed that mine had a Separate credit card slot and no over heat light which the newer one does " same model though EC1018 ", So I am hoping that that is all that has changed and that they have not skimped on the Internals.

Lenox ec1018 – Shredder for the home. Just do not overload keep well below 10sheets. Overheats quickly so don't keep shredding until the last. Nice size box but fills to quick. Shreds to confetti size. Fast shredding. You can normally buy at a reasonable price. The head is heavy and heavy to lift Does a good job makes good packing material. Good for the price. As for most things these days can't find a service centre.
