Faulty out of the box, multiple times – This review is not just on the printer itself but the support (or lack of it) from Lexmark. Printer arrived out of the box without toner in any of the toner cartridges. The status indicator is red all the time and the error message says insufficient toner. distributor and Lexmark, Lexmark and the distributor determined that I need to purchase a new set of cartridges, even though a single page hadn't been printed with this printer. In Lexmark's words, the printer is "within specification". This is clearly wrong as the job of a printer is to print pages, and in this case this printer doesn't print so it is out of specification.

This is very deceptive. They don't expect the purchaser to purchase new toner cartridges along with a new printer, and yet here they instructed me to purchase new cartridges.

Another time I purchased this model the printer had another faulty component which caused repeating red dots on the page which required a completely new printer.

About 10 years ago the printers sold by Lexmark were great, very reliable and dependable. I was involved with the purchase and handling of almost 40 of each the following models: E260dn and MS312dn. With these models the rate of bad printers were far and few between.

Almost all the printers I've sourced from Lexmark in the last 2 years are the new generation of Lexmark printers. I've handled approximately 10 Lexmark printers from new of the following models: C2425DW and MS412DN. Almost every printer has had a major fault straight out of the box.
