I usually use a Logitech Performance MX 3 mouse which I left at a site forcing me to get a replacement. I settled on the G502 X based on the reviews I have been reading saying it was great. The mouse looks really cool with it changeable lights and assignable keys, so overall a very versatile in the options that it presents as a mouse. The set up was easy as it comes with a radio receiver but Does Not have Bluetooth capability so I had to use one of my USB ports for the wireless receiver. It also means I now have a piece sticking out the side of my laptop that gets caught on everything and generally being a nuisance. The mouse is very angular, and compared to the Performance MX, uncomfortable to operate after a while and doesn't have a natural feel to it. After two hours the angular features start to bite into your hand if you have previously use a more smoother mouse. Changing over may be difficult. You will have to fiddle around with the mouse setting as this is a mouse behaves as though it has had Nitro boost added, it is fast, precise, jittery and latches on to every window it passes accidentally dragging them to a new location or closing them. It will take some time to set it up to get it behave smoothly. There should be a dumb preset to slow it down. This might be great for gaming, but its rubbish for office work or mobile working due to the reckless nature of it darting around and the receiver hanging out of a port. Pros: Very lightweight, assignable buttons, rechargeable vis USB-C, has a lightshow, accurate and fast. Cons: Uncomfortable after a while, jittery, expensive, no Bluetooth (Why?). I'm busy hunting for a spare MX 3. This G502X is going back on the shelf or I'll give it away.
Purchased in at Scorptec Computers for $219.
A really good everyday mouse. Nice solid, light weight build with appealing aesthetics. Great ratcheting wheel – There are 3 separate versions of this mouse. I got the 'G502 X LIGHTSPEED' White Wireless Version. This does not have RGB..... 'G502 X' -> The Older Wired Version. (Costs Half as much) 'G502 X PLUS' -> The RGB Version of the G502 X LIGHTSPEED. (Costs More) Likes: The fast-scrolling Aluminum Wheel. I keep it permanently in ratcheting mode. I have been using logitech mice for over 20 years and this mouse has the best wheel yet...... The large size and feel of the 502X mouse body. The massive and very fast actuating main left and right click buttons. Everything is built solid, smooth and light weight. A rechargeable battery with 37hrs of charge. An on/off button. Ultra smooth glide pads on its base. The advertised updated LIGHTSPEED protocol with 68% faster response rate. Dislikes: No RGB even though the word 'light' is in the name. It should be called the G502 X NO RGB. It has a single green led to say its on & charged. Red when it is running low on battery. And a slow blinking green light while its recharging. It comes with a 1.75m USB A to C cable. A USB C to A adapter. And a USB A Dongle. The dongle is supposed to be 30 to 50 cm away from the mouse itself. So If you put the dongle in the front of your pc or laptop - the mouse needs to be 50cm away for it to work. This is how I am using it and it works fine. The other way to use it, is to have the cable go to the back of your pc, and then the cable with the adapter and dongle attached, needs to be within 50cm of the mouse. I would call this a 'wire and dongle mouse' and not a completely 'Wireless' Mouse. They need to extend this range to be at least 1 meter.
Overall: A really, really, good everyday mouse. Nice solid, light weight build with appealing aesthetics. 7 programmable buttons. Excellent Scroll Wheel with a pleasing ratcheting feature and left / right clicking. Somewhat overpriced. I got mine at 1/2 price for $125AUD. I would never pay more than $200. They need to lower the price and double its wireless dongle range from 50cm to 1 meter.
Its good – I just upgraded my old G502 Black mouse after about 5 yrs of use for 12hrs a day and mostly gaming. Things I like about this mouse: - I like that it's white and can match my Logitech white keyboard (review coming) - I like that it has macro buttons which are function assignable. -It's very responsive and clicks easily without finger fatigue even after long hrs. - the ergonomics of the piece are great for all sized hands, my small to medium hands fit nicely on it and it's comfortable to use even for extended periods - My hands don't get overly sweaty using it like some other mice I've had in the past. - I like that I can fiddle with the movement speed etc. - Logitech products really last for yrs for me, plus they are easily sourced and have great customer service if you have any issues. - I like the length of the cord. It allows me to manage the cables well but also stops me having to worry about charging it etc.
Things that I'm not fussed on: - This white newer version is much lighter than my old G502 in the black. This lightness, while great for gaming I suppose, makes the overall feel of the mouse feel like a cheap $10 one. Not something I particularly like given its hefty price tag - I dislike that this white version doesn't have any LED lights in it. My old black one changed colours and although, its petty, I wish I could colour match the mouse to the rest of my set up. - Perhaps THE biggest issue I've had thus far was when setting up the mouse, I was in the settings section and when navigating, it jumped a tiny bit and caused me to mis-click on the button that controls the function of the left click. I nearly bricked my brand new very expensive mouse. It took my husband's other mouse to undo this error and assign it it's functions back. I feel like this is probably a 1 in a 10000 chance of happening to someone again, but just in case I highly recommend having an emergency spare mouse handy if you're going to assign changes to your new mouse. It was an exceedingly stressful few moments for me LOL.
