refreshing and surprisingly simple technique, and the Magimix has made that transition easy. Its design is straightforward, with a single dial and four preset temperatures (100°C, 80°C, 60°C, 40°C), including a yogurt setting and a keep warm function. Even for a beginner, it feels intuitive. Where this steamer truly shines is in reheating food. Stews, lasagnes, and other dishes that normally dry out in the microwave come out moist, evenly heated, and stay warm for longer. For me, that alone has been a game changer. It also excels with foods like pierogi (dumplings), boiled eggs, pasta, and rice. The large capacity means I can cook or reheat multiple items at once, and it has become my go to appliance for sterilising jars — a much safer and cleaner alternative to boiling pots of water on the stove. I haven’t yet tried preserving fruit in jars, but the steamer seems perfectly suited for it. The only real downside is the water refill process. When the water runs low, you must remove the baskets to top it up, which requires care to avoid steam burns. It’s not difficult, but it does interrupt the cooking flow. Otherwise, the machine is sturdy, quiet, and easy to clean — very much in line with Magimix’s reputation for long lasting appliances. While the price is higher than many alternatives, its performance, capacity, it is a worthwhile investment, especially for those who value gentle cooking methods or want a dependable tool for reheating, batch cooking, and preserving.

In the mornings I steam eggs for 8 minutes, and at dinner I’ll usually do rice and veggies on one layer with fish on top. We’ve been trying to cook with steam more for healthier meals and to help improve our cholesterol levels, and this makes it feel effortless.
It’s one of those appliances you don’t realise how much you’ll use until it’s sitting on your bench. I’ve already got a list of recipes I want to try next, especially steamed egg muffins for meal prep and a moist chocolate cake recipe I saw online.
