Makita BGA452RFE / BGA452Z

It's not a useful tool – There's a built in overload that shuts the angle grinder off if you try to push too hard. The overload protection is too sensitive, if the battery isn't 100% the overload trips. I bought the angle grinder to cut off 3/8" brass bolts, and 26G sheet metal. It will barely do the job, and even then if you push too hard it will trip the overload, and the cut is so slow that the material get's overly hot. I've taken the tool off my work truck. It's sitting in my shop gathering dust. I'll sell it for cheap if anybody's interested in a tool that doesn't work that good. I got a chance to try a friends Milwaukee 18v cordless angle grinder. We cut through some 3/4" rusty steel bolts in the bottom of the hull of his boat & it worked well. This showed me that a 18V cordless angle grinder could be truck worthy. I'd really like to see Makita redesign this tool. I'll be the first one to buy it if they fix their mistakes.
great piece of kit – Features a red LED for overload protection (will light and cut out of too heavily overloaded) which with a cut disc I've never even seen come on! So it has plenty of guts. Not as much as a 240v ofcourse but enough power for most any application short of all day concrete cutting. Replaceable brushes, tough, it grinds.
My opinion on Makita cordless grinder – I have owned DeWalt, Makita, Hitachi, and Milwaukee, I bought the same kits or made up the same kits with the grinder, hammer drill driver, torch, radio, and impact driver the Makita grinder I found it was lacking a lot with abit of pressure on the blade it would stall cutting a 100mm PVC riser going through a concrete slab with a diamond blade never have I had this problem with any other brand. Makita is a cheap brand named tool that's good for the handyman that doesn't use it for tough jobs
Nice little cordless angle grinder, not as powerfull as other brands but safer – Nice little angle grinder with a spindle lock button. It has a locking switch that must be switched if a battery has gone flat and been changed or it has been overloaded. It has a light on the side to indicate if it has been overloaded and if this is tripped it will need a couple of minutes to cool otherwise it will trip to easily when used. It works great with a flap wheel but is a bit gutless to use a standard corded angle grinder wheel, with a wheel that uses a lighter bond it works great. Not enough power for a twisted wire brush but a standard one works fine. I use a 60 grit flap wheel on mine to do anything that needs grinding, it also needs the 1mm cutoff discs if you are going to do this as with a standard width unit it can stall. I bought this after using a Dewalt cordless angle grinder and was impressed with it's performance, but I have Makita cordless tools and bought this instead. Not as good as the Dewalt in this case but ok when used with a bit of respect. Spindle lock button , locking switch, quite light ok for one handed operation. Could be more powerfull, wont take the 1.5 ah batterys. No keyless spindle nut, I bought a milwaukee one for it.
