I think Malwarebytes should rewrite their explanations of exactly what each product subscription covers for the number of devices and do they cover different mobile numbers ie 2 or more on the same same priced subscription.

Doesn't detect much, and half of what it does are false alerts - which have ot be restored using a very flaky system. Have had to re-install some apps it "quarantined" and didn't allow me to restore.

This program used to be really great years ago but increasingly in recent years it is coming up with a ridiculous amount of false positives. Some are for programs that are a bit outside the box like video downloaders etc so I found that is to be expected. Malwarbytes installed. I found that ALL virus and Malware scanners they detect about 20% of known viruses and Malware. I found that using Malwarbytes and other virus detection you are more likely to be infected. The reason is, they give you a false sense of security (Invulnerability) and you believe you are protected but the fact is 80% of web sites contain malicious code that Malwarbytes can't detect. For this reason, you believe you are protected and you are more likely to be infected when using Malwarbytes and other virus scanners than you would using NONE. My advice is use no virus protection and don't visit porn sites especially those that Google rank highest. You will get infected. Visit no web sites and have add blocker tracers on your network and you will have happy internet life without infection.....

I had a consistent unexplainable dropping out of my internet connection on my PC. Tried everything to fix it, upgraded everything and reloaded the drivers for all my networked devices. Still dropping out. Realised it was occuring a few seconds after I opened any browser. I Googled the issue and discovered the cause was the free version of Malwarebytes I had forgotten I had loaded. Deleting Malwarebytes fixed the problem.

On Sunday 27th July 2025 I purchased this as a Standard version for $59.99 to use on my iMac 24" M1 to stop me getting viruses and being scammed.

Great customer service for me :) – Had a problem adding my old subscription due to email reasons but after using their chat online had it fixed in minutes. Glad I took the time to chat as I almost gave up trying. Thankyou, great support, very happy.

No support what-so-ever, dodgy practice, product not fit for purpose – They have very dodgy practices to get you in. DON"T BUY IN. you will find zero support, product doesn't function that well, and they scam you to upgrade. Trying to get out is virtually imposable. specific example: "MalwareB for windows does not support this systems CPU or hardware architecture" In other words useless. Try and get your $$$ back....well good luck. Auto renewal is a scam – Auto renewal is a scam! I was not aware it was going to be renewed. That's on me, but they charged my account before subscription was even due. That's on them and bad. They also charged me twice the prior year so renewed 2 different accounts. Thanks Rocket Money for letting me know! Refused to give me refund. Now cancelled so at least it won't happen again. BEWARE!!!!!

No billing or security support – Malwarebytes seems to work well. My dig is that it has virtually no customer support. An email came to me purporting to be a bill from malwarebytes. problems. It put me into a loop. I asked for a phone visit, and the bot told me there were no appointments for a month. I asked for a chat with a live person, and the wheel kept spinning; there was never any response. There is no email capability on their website. There is not even a mailing address.

Avoid Malwarebytes – Malwarebytes comes with malware. After paying for a full subscription I was bombarded with hundreds of "Site Excluded due to Compromise" messages. i couldn't access their Help because the messages blocked it. I had to uninstall the program.

Have nothing to do with it – Nothing short of a scam that auto renews at exorbitant rates. Good luck trying to contact them - another evidence that this is a scam, you cannot contact them.

My prediction: The most "clean" your computer will feel is when you delete this thing – This software is without doubt **THE** most intrusive software I have ever used! In trialling it you will be constantly bombarded with large messages about upgrading and advisements about what it is doing "in the background". And it seems very dodgy as well. panel sliding out and blocking my work) but I noticed the problem all came from one .exe file. So, my question is, "Why does MWB not simply deal with this at the source and detect a problem with that .exe file on scanning????"

So, I decided to ask. Then I realise that these people REALLY don't want you to contact them. When I finally locate a couple of pages that let me through, they all ask for my account details before proceeding. Unlike the intrusive, ADHD-like software, they simply do not want to interact with potential customers. But, eventually I find ONE mail contact that does not ask for this information! So I ask away. Immediately, I receive auto-mail stating that my case had been closed because it could not detect me as a registered user of the product!

So, in summary:

1. It doesn't seem that this product really does a decent scan, since it allows problematic files to persist while it intercepts their malignant behaviour every few seconds and tells you about it in a huge announcement that blocks your work.

2. The software is more like a virus than many of the viruses I have seen. It's level of intrusion is nothing short of offensive, and if you are not a paid-up subscriber, you **WILL** be constantly harassed with those huge messages (only, in BOLD and RED -- because sales are more important than catching malware, right?). Also, be sure to disable in task manager, because this pita is not going to simple let you close it.

3. Despite the eternal sales-pitching in the software, they do NOT want to hear from prospective customers. You need to pay up before they show interest (and who's to say they will suddenly care about you after they have your money?) I certainly won't be paying a cent simply to find out that they have the same disdain for customers as they do for prospective ones. Seriously, how dim-witted is the entire approach? "Try this software. It may not do what you want, but it will hound you mercilessly for money. But if you want to know more about the product, well, you have to buy it first before we (might possibly, who knows?) be interested in your questions about it?"

By the way, I found a very tiny, extremely FREE, browser extension which solves all the problems I was getting. I have tested it repeatedly using MalwareBytes and it is letting nothing through. And it certainly isn't trumpeting about itself every few seconds.

If you want to spend money on a product in order to see if you want to spend money on a product (which is exactly what they are forcing you to do), then MalwareBytes may be of interest. I say *may be* because we still don't know if there is a less intrusive mode that prevents massive banners demanding your attention, and why it prefers to intercept persistent attacks from a dubious bit of software rather than detect that this bit of software as dubious and deal with it directly.

Anti-malware software that acts like malware? Well, you decide what to do with that. My trial period is up. I am uninstalling it, and doing so with great joy. I only held onto it as long as I did to use alternative trial products against each other. I would suggest this to be good practice, but be sure to include free options in your testing period. You may very well be surprised. What you will *not* do, I would be confident in saying, is to choose MWB as the winner in this kind of showdown.

it. So this afternoon (19 July, 2023, at 4.30 p.m., when I checked the VPN protection has been uninstalled, by the person/s who have been hacking my computer. So the VPN protection is of no use at all, if it can be uninstalled by a hacker.

Disappointing – I've been using Malwarebytes since 2017. I have just purchased a new computer and tried to install Malwarebytes on it after deleting my old PC from my Malwarebytes account. My account allows for two devices. Malwarebytes want and additional $42USD to allow me to install its product on my new PC. They say its to align subscription dates. I say its a rip-off.

Poor Service – My VPN does not work with Malwarebytes. Now Malwarebytes sell their own VPN... Tried to go to the "Contact Us" page and instead went to a page with FAQ's. Impossible to contact. Why have a "Contact Us" tab if it doesn't show me how to contact you???
