Meta Quest 3

We bought a metaquest vr3 for our son for Xmas. Within a month of careful use it got a software grey screen issue. Sent it in but instead of replacing with a new one they sent someone else's refurbished vr3 that has done the same thing in a month of use. I am disgusted to know a thousand dollars product could be so poorly managed by meta and… Read more
believe they should replace the meta vr3 with a new one or repair your original. It is appalling a company so valuable could take advantage of people by not fixing or replacing faulty products
- The meta quest 3s mic is faulty after one month. - Talks to different people in support. Support is via whatsapp and you get disconnected after less than a minute. With different people, you have to explain everything from the beginning. Making the process of identifying problems to returning the item very tedious. - After the agreement that the… Read more
item is faulty, I was told by Meta support to send the headset back. - Waited a week for headset to arrive to Sydney and after processing, told that I have to send the rest of the item. I am assuming the two controllers. At this point, I am very agitated as I was told to only send the headset. The content of the email from Meta support is not pleasing as well, as the language being used is non-apologetic and threatening, like if you don't reply within 8 days, Meta won't replace it.
Would you be happy about this if you are the customer?
My meta quest 3 headset has been crashing multiple times when I play Cards & Tankards and when I am in Bigscreen. I experience loads of lag in the game. Two days ago I crashed 4 times in the middle of the game. Restarting the headset may be a temporary solution but the problem quickly resurfaces. I have tried fixing the problem in many ways but… Read more
the problem persists for 3 months now. I have been reporting the problem with Meta many times for months. It’s now a permanent problem because the problem is not being resolved. The lag is very persistent. I only own a couple of games and apps. I deleted all of my other games and apps trying to fix the problem. I have lost all confidence in Meta. The customer service is non existent. I have tried to access customer support but I just can’t find any way to contact anyone. The system doesn’t allow me to access anyone. I tried to contact support and it asked for my serial number. It says it doesn’t recognise my device. So I can’t log a ticket for support. It doesn’t ask for my email address as a way to log the ticket. I have lost all hope of ever getting any support or help to fix this issue.
Experience is great but the usability of the hand controllers is abysmal! They are non chargeable for a start…fail! Then accessibility for the change over of AA batteries is to the point of breaking the controller every time you have to change the battery which is weekly! Not happy Jan! Do better! Make rechargeable controllers for god sake! Show details
I was very excited when I bought my Quest 3. The games are great, the virtual desktop feature was cool, and there was a lot to love about it. Unfortunately, 2.5 weeks after the *one year* warranty expired, the Quest experienced a hardware failure. It seems like the flash storage unit got corrupted somehow. I used ChatGPT and Meta Support to make… Read more
every attempt to repair the unit, but a repair was not possible.
I requested a courtesy honoring of the warranty as it had *just* expired and the issue was a premature hardware failure, not a problem of misuse or user error. After 20+ rounds of emails with Meta support, they refused to honor the warranty and show a good faith willingness to rectify a problem with an obviously flawed unit. The best they'd offer me was a *refurbished* unit for $360.
I think their refusal to make me whole says a lot about how little Meta cares about their customers. I told them how much I enjoyed the Quest, I was a Meta Horizon+ member, and was intending to buy even more games than I already had. But to Meta, a company that made $200B last year, the trivial cost (to them) of replacing an obviously flawed unit and keeping a loyal customer active in their ecosystem was too great to bear.
Buyer beware. If you're going to buy this product, understand that Meta themselves don't stand behind it except under the most limited of circumstances. Consider purchasing it from Costco if you can since that's a company that values customers and will make them whole if one of the products they sells is faulty.
Remember those 90s games like 007 that were completely cr#p? Now you can pay $1000 to relive those days. Most of the games this contraption offers don't work and are such poor quality they make Pac Man look 3D. The cr#p internet connection is a known issue, unfortunately not known to consumers before they purchase one of these things. Listening to… Read more
Zuckerberg talk about how the Metaverse is the future then offering this Temu world of 1980s Tron is laughable. I have it an extra 1 star because the Star Wars game is pretty cool and almost worth the cost of the headset in itself. I have it another star because it wouldn't let me give 1/4 of a star.
A Christmas win for kids (and parents) We bought the Meta Quest 3 for our son for Christmas and it has honestly been one of the best gifts we’ve ever given him. It was surprisingly easy to set up, even straight out of the box, and he was able to start using it with very little help. The controls are intuitive, the menus are clear, and everything… Read more
feels well thought out — no frustrating learning curve. What I love most is how engaging and immersive it is. It keeps him entertained for long stretches, but it’s not just mindless screen time — he’s moving, reacting, problem-solving, and genuinely excited about what he’s doing. The graphics are impressive and the games run smoothly with no lag. It’s also nice knowing he’s safe at home, entertained, and having fun, especially during holidays or bad weather days. Battery life has been solid for regular play, and the headset itself feels comfortable and sturdy. Overall, the Meta Quest 3 has lived up to the hype. If you’re looking for a gift that will actually get used (and loved), this one is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend for kids, teens, and even adults.
VR at its best !! – VR at its best, mainly play golf, feels like you are on real course. Money well spent Show details
My favourite toy – Meta Quest 3 is one of my most favourite toys that I have ever bought. I use quest 3 daily to play bunch of games that I found amusing. Once you find the game that you like, you will not be able to put it down. The immersive experience is exceptional with good clarity of screen, the average user will be satisfied by the quality of the lenses,… Read more
though you can notice pixelation when watching 4k content. Now once you start playing, it gets sweaty inside the headset. I have witnessed fogging of the lenses as well. The immersion in the games, however makes me overlook such issues. Headset is not too heavy. You get used to the headset hanging on your face. The basic strap is more than enough for me but user may wish to purchase other options available to suit their personal preference . I have not been able to enjoy and use quest 3 capabilities as a work station . Though idea of a huge work station in front of you is appealing but I find it more relaxing to work without a big helmet on my head. I love the fact that I can watch 3d movies on a huge screen inside quest 3 . It is amazing experience however I find myself wanting to remove the headset and take a break after 45 - 60 minutes of use. There are great number of free games and apps available to enjoy on meta quest however some really good ones are expensive . There are many games that i have not been able to play because I did feel nauseated. The question , should i buy it . I think you should if you like to experience and explore . Though marketed as a cheaper option in market , it still might be expensive for many. But meta has come out with 3s variant which is slightly cheaper. For me , immersive experience and the gaming capabilities are enough to recommend it to my friends and family. Try it .
The best way to experience virtual reality – I purchased a Meta Quest 2 headset so I would experience virtual reality since I have never done it before and I wanted to experiment with something new. Show details
Very poor - Tracking not fixed in 3 years! Stay away from Meta VR products! – Shocking Tracking behavior never fixed in 3 years. Both pro and normal controllers have very poor tracking when playing games requiring fast motion such as Tennis or boxing. I've broken two controllers because they wouldn't track the wall during a fast swing. This is very disappointing considering the high cost of the pro controller (250 USD)… Read more
Customer support is very unhelpful and they ask you to purchase new products or go to an out of warranty program where you will be out of pocket. Very very poor when its their fault the controller broke in the first place. Definitely not buying meta again.
Excellence - above and beyond – Incredible, emersive, exceptional. These three word sum up the Meta Quest 3 VR headset. I started a few years back with a Quest Go. Still have that headset, it's a fun piece of early tech. I then moved to the Quest 2 and the difference was like day and night. The Meta Quest 3, you can now not only see, but the clarity is just BOOM! Up front,… Read more
the first thing I did was add a battery headset harness, to extend the battery life. This is not only brilliant, but it likes to eat through the battery.
Having added the extra battery, I went through the setup, which was very easy, intuitive and quickly got me looking through the store.
Trust me, you will spend some time and money here. If it's games for exercise, warfare, flying, driving, everything is here.
But let's look at some specs. With a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 graphics which double the graphics power, over the Quest 2. The difference is clear when you are in VR, especially movement.
The built-in battery offers a claimed 2.2 hours, I was able to get ~1.75 hours, but I was running heavy graphics games. The headset battery offers another 2 hours, so more time, more games.
With a 'pass-thru' option you can easily switch and see reality, while still wearing the headset.
Kick8ng back to watch a movie, on what is in VR a movie theatre. Actually, bring some friends and watch it together, regardless of where they are. That's right, invite your friends overseas to watch a movie together, in VR!
The new controllers are smaller, don't have the big clunky ring on top and respond very well in menus and games. But add in other game sources, see below, and soon you will be racing AAA+ games, on your PC in VR. A real improvement.
The store offers a plethora of game and app options. But then the madness really takes off. Add the SteamLink in and a huge amount of Steam games are now available. But to not be topped, Microsoft came on board, with the Xbox App, opening up your GamePass library as well. There simply aren't enough hours in the day.
I also have a motion sim, so I will be able to couple the motion sim, VR headset and the PC games, realism personified.
Having moved from the QuestGo and its 'blocky' view, through the Quest 2, now on to the Quest 3, I can see the very clear, very major steps being taken. These aren't little steps, the capabilities are now incredible.
Meetings, hangouts, multilayer gaming, all in VR, all performing flawlessly. Catch upcwith family and friends, create your own comfort zone, have people visit, visit them. Go on an adventure. I can guarantee you will soon be so engrossed you will almost forget it is VR.
Simply put, if you are wanting to get into VR and want the best experience, with the most possibilities and support for other platforms, the Meta Quest 3 might be right for you.
Fro.lm meeting people, going anywhere in the world in VR, and see how things work. Gaming with friends, watching movie, just hanging out, or a collaboration for a project, where you can see, hear, interact, draw, anything. It's all possible with the Meta Quest 3 VR Headset.
If I were to rate it, a 9.75 out of 10, only because the battery seems small for what would be its proposed use, you can however always be linked using a usb cord, but that's limiting, hence my buying the battery headset kit separately.
A simply brilliant, fun and engaging unit, which offers so many possibilities, it's impossible to address them all.
I do highly recommend the Meta Quest 3, it is all they claim and more!
Meta store/quest 3 nightmare – More for the Meta Store than the quest 3, get it from Amazon, Meta store are yet to deliver or refund over $1100 after nearly a month. platitudes and no update on my request to cancel, recall and refund. Courier also not updated (Auspost) since marking it as delayed 3 weeks ago. Had to report to ACCC and ombudsman. Credit card request to void transaction next. Nightmare.

Unresolved Issues with Meta: Game Purchases Lost, No Solutions Provided – I have been using the Oculus Quest 2 for a year or two and have invested around $400-500 in game purchases. Unfortunately, about a year ago, it broke. I decided to wait for the Meta Quest 3, and this January, I planned to treat myself to it. However, upon logging into my account, I discovered that there were no records of my previous game… Read more
purchases.
I promptly contacted Meta, but despite speaking with 10 different consultants, I received no resolution to my issue. I possess proof of purchases, including invoice numbers, tied to my account email, my name, and my card. Additionally, my bank statements confirm that Oculus charged me the exact amounts corresponding to my game purchases.
Today, they reached out to me and claimed that my account was closed, and they cannot restore my purchases. This is false. I have never closed my account, and I still use the exact same one. It's disheartening to say, but it appears that they are engaging in fraudulent practices.
Despite my persistent efforts and TWO months of communication, they have failed to provide any solution to rectify this situation. They have not offered to return the games, refund the money, or provide a gift card or discount.
I am planning to file a complaint with the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection in the USA and the ACCC in Australia.
The best buy I made – Worth every dollar, $1500 but it worths it. It’s gym and educational. Not game. They need to bring master class to it. Netflix need to work looking at the ceiling
Free store credit link included - If your looking to get into VR, it doesn’t get better then this! – I have owned the original Oculus Rift “CV1”. The Oculus Quest 2 and now the Meta Quest 3. ***(Go to bottom of review for discount/ store credit link :) ) If you’re looking to get into VR, this is a very polished platform and a safe investment. incredible bond with my daughter. We debrief afterward and talk about the worlds we could create and the places we could play.
Whether it’s exercise your after, diffusing bombs at a dinner party (while you have the “bomb” in VR and your friends have the defusal manual) or sitting back watching the most incredible 360 degree videos as you float around the international space station. Perhaps you want to browse your way around the world from the comfort of your couch, Quest 3 has you covered.
There are plenty of videos online about the quest, but I’m here to say, everything about this device is fantastic, it builds on years of development and I’m happy to say, the software is finally at a point where I can hand it to almost anyone and they can comfortably navigate their way around it. (Heck, if my 5yo daughter can, you can too).
The colour pass through cameras are a HUGE step up from the previous quest, allowing you to quite literally defend your own home from zombies who “break in” through your actual windows and doors. To a menu interface that’s quite literally levitating in your lounge room as you walk around.
If your into building city’s, or playing with remote control cars as a tabletop experience, perhaps you want to sit around with 4 mates and drink beer playing interactive board games, or quite literally sit in a cinema and enjoy a movie together while throwing popcorn at each other. There is now a massive market of games and experiences to purchase and many for free. I will always admit, the quest and most Vr experiences are best shared with friends.
There is many moments that will leave you with goosebumps.
As controversial as it was for Facebook to buyout the original Oculus platform, they have done good things and brought VR into the mainstream. You can easily connect with friends through Facebook. Or you don’t require an account if you don’t want.
If you’re tight on a budget and just want to try it out, pickup a clean second hand quest 2. If you’re waving your cash around grab the quest 3 without hesitation. (I would however recommend getting the genuine battery head strap as the standard elastic strap is not very comfortable after 10 minutes, and battery life is limited without the extra battery).
Awesome product that is VERY consumer ready.
An underrated feature that’s not often talked about is the power of the Quest App, allowing you to launch apps from your phone. You can very easily cast the image from inside the headset to your phone or TV (with a chrome cast) so others can see what you can see. This has made sharing and introducing people to VR very easy and less frustrating.
Please note: if you wear glasses, the Q3 fits them quite well. Else if you want the best experience, I purchased prescription lenses for <$100 from “hons VR” which I also recommend.
Also when doing your research, be mindful that watching screen recordings of gameplay does Zero justice for actually being in “VR”.
Battery life is very dependent on settings. But with the extended battery headstrap you shouldn’t have issues hitting the 2 hour mark - at which time most of us are ready for a rest anyway!
