I needed a bigger chainsaw to cut down large trees and branches as my old Ryobi 12" 18V just couldn't cut it. I got a good deal on the Metabo and from reviews on YouTube it seemed really good. I have had it for just under 1 month now and it has been a painfull experience. It has great chain speed and cuts through softwood easily, but large hardwood trees are not good. The original bar and chain got bent when stuck in tree. I tried to fix it bar chain keep on coming off, so I bought an aftermaket bar and chain which seem much tougher.

The crazy thing is the machine seems to overheat after about 5 minutes use and just beeps at you. After leaving for a few minutes it goes again for a bit but consistently needs a rest every couple of minutes. The batteries only last about 5 minutes of use also. I have bought a second set so I can rotate them.

I am currently trying to cut through a hardwood log about 400mm thick and have gone through 2 sets of batteries and am still not done!. I have gone back to using the Ryobi, which never overheats and battery lasts ages....

I am not sure if this is normal or the saw just can't handle tough work. Be warned.
