Microsoft Surface Arc Mouse

Been using it for about two weeks, overall it’s annoying – The mouse struggles with precise movements and sometimes doesn’t register that you’ve moved the mouse slightly. Just try clicking links or dragging and dropping something. Tedious. You cannot rest your index finger on the left side of the mouse (left click area) and try to right click with your other finger on the right side, this is because it will register it as a left click since you’re already touching the touchpad. This causes you to open links you didn’t want to often when all you wanted to do is open the right click menu. Frustrating.
There is no native middle click, you require software to be installed to middle click by using three fingers to press down. Absurd.
The idea is cool but they’ve failed at implementing it to replace a classic mouse. Not worth the hassle, will be returning.
Purchased at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores for $110.
Only lasts 1 year! – The product itself is awesome, if it lasted! I had my mouse just over a year and the tiny plastic foot which enables it to be a surface mouse fell off! Microsoft won’t send replacement part as it’s over a year. It’s a common problem just search for it. I had to wedge a bit of card in it so it works because otherwise the rubber sheath catches on the surface your using!
Purchased in at Microsoft for $85.
The best mouse for your surface – I purchased a Microsoft Surface Arc Wireless Mouse (Black) so I could use it wirelessly with the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 when I am in bed or on holidays.
Purchased in at eBay for $82.45.
Perfect Companion for a person on the go – bought this with my surface pro and cant fault it. It folds flat making it easy to transport and slide into a briefcase pocket. No need to bring a large mouse that will add bulk to your slick laptop bag. works quite well considering its form factor and syncs quickly with my surface pro when activated - you must click it into its curved position to work.
Ideal Travel Mouse – As I am planning a few trips overseas in the future, I was looking for a compact/lightweight mouse to go with my Surface Book 2 laptop. My usual mouse is a Logitech MX Master 2S. This is an excellent mouse with great accuracy, necessary for serious Photoshop photo editing. However, it is bulky & relatively prone to damage, due to it's size & shape, when packed in travel luggage.
The Arc mouse is rated for more than 6 months operation on 2 x AA alkaline batteries. The Arc mouse is flat & thin when turned off, making it easy to pack. To turn the mouse on you simply bend the rear of the mouse, to form an arc (a led will momentarily light to indicate power on). The rear of the mouse is covered in a soft grippy silicon rubber. The front touch plate of the mouse is made of a smooth rigid plastic, which is touch sensitive. There is no scroll wheel, you simply move your finger backward or forward on the touch plate to scroll & finger flicks will scroll multiple pages at a time. Side to side finger gestures will also allow horizontal scrolling. Other gestures, as on a laptop track pad, such as pinch zooming, are not supported. There are no separate left & right keys on the mouse, you simply press the left or right sides of the touch plate. Each press is accompanied a very satisfying audible & mechanical click. The mouse tracks well on almost any surface, even glass.
The arc mouse fits my average sized hands nicely, though it is nowhere near as nice to hold as my MX Master 2S mouse. For a travel mouse I am happy to sacrifice a little 'comfort' for portability. This is not a mouse that I would like to use for many hours everyday. The mouse feels like a quality product, despite the light weight. Like all Microsoft Surface products, it is not cheap ... I guess to some extent the old adage 'You get what you pay for!' applies here. I recommend this mouse if you need a compact mouse to go with your laptop or tablet. Of course, it will work with any bluetooth equipped computer, tablet or even a mobile phone.
