completion and install. The job itself looks very nice. The shutters are everything advertised in looks, and security. The install is not complete and I am very happy with the finished result. Thankyou to Modern group for completing the job and a very nice finished product. Only for my need to make my very 1st ever review in the hope to get some remedy is why I finish with 3 stars. We thank the CEO and managers of Modern Group for putting in place the work practices aimed at the customers satisfaction first and foremost and we thank the managers for having staff like Sara and Eugene as their front line troops who deal with customers. If not for anything else, it would be Sara’s and Eugene’s customer focussed ways that would see us as Modern Group’s returning customers.
Finally we find it mind boggling the speed at which Modern Group completed the job from start to finish. We didn’t think it would be possible and yet the job was done with perfection without a glitch deserving of a gold medal award.

Group is current practice please?
This morning I spoke with (name withheld) to organise a quote for the installation of roller shutters. I provided my first and last name, address and had previously provided my phone number. I was then asked for my wife's details, at which point I queried why this was required (or presumed that I have one). I was advised that it was essential so that the person attending only had to come out once to the address. I advised that I was not comfortable providing this information and was the sole decision maker with regards to this project. I was then informed that it was a requirement and (name withheld) would not want to lose her job over not getting the information. I queried what would be the case if I didn't have a wife and was told in that case she wouldn't ask.
I was then told that Modern is a high end company that has been doing this for a very long time and would only attend at the property once, - and a decision to proceed would be necessary at the time. I was told that only about 2 people a year would query what I have about the requirement for spouse's details. I was advised to seek other quotes and advised that I already had, so that I would be ready to decide on the day.
Regardless of Modern Group proclaiming "high end" products, this doesn't seem to match on a customer service level or for the reviews you have, which is why I am enquiring with you. Is this a common practice or did I just happen to take this all the wrong way?

why I was interested in roller shutters. Explained I was just getting quotes to plan to install them before summer (this was in July). We need to budget for such things and need approximate quotes and decide who to go with. He then calculated a quote on his ipad.
He then proceeded to try and pressure us to sign up and agree to get it installed as he had given us a 'special EOFY discount' even though the promotion was 'over', I told him we can't commit to such a significant amount yet and that he should just email me the quote. He seemed to get disgruntled and continued to try and persuade me to purchase, to which I explained once again that my wife and I are just getting quotes to compare and decide (like normal people?). He then 'called' his 'supervisor/manager' to inform them that we weren't going through with the 'deal'. Pretty sure this was a fake call as I was standing 1m away and couldn't hear the call tone/voice on the mobile. I guess this was to try and stir up 'fear of missing out'.
Anyway, we got quotes from 2 other companies and Moderns was the most expensive (even after the 'special deal' - still 5-10% more expensive than next competitor). Moderns Group never emailed the quote as requested (with cost breakdown) but my wife and I remembered the approximate amounts.
Ended up getting what we wanted at 55% cost of Moderns group from somewhere else.

back but when they’ve done that they say they’ll investigate and back to me but don’t and I have to keep calling every 2nd day. Still no resolution to my request after almost 3 weeks. Was first told I can’t cancel because it’s already progressed to production stage after a few days when the contract clearly states to check with me about colour selections and no check measure performed. Other companies I’ve dealt with have a policy where they do a final check and measure before putting through the order for production. It feels like they are doing all they can to lock me into something I don’t want so you have no right as a customer. I try s extremely stressful and frustrating dealing with them. You are at their mercy as all requests have to go through receptionists who say they’ll get so and so to call you back but nothing ever happens. I was told only Steve can help me or Cash the director will call me…NOTHING! Stay away from this company if you are not 100% sure of what you want as you cannot get out of the contract. Most companies allow you a cooling off period or room to cancel, even if it means losing some of your deposit. In this case they are literally forcing me to go ahead with something I no longer want or can afford. I will seek legal action through my friend and go through ACCC and ombudsman for some guidance to ensure they don’t get away with this.

was - “would I be able to provide a yes or no answer at the appointment”. Obviously my answer was no as I wanted a quote. The operator then asked me if they could then follow up after 2 weeks. I am in sales myself - to me that means once I get the quote, can they follow up in 2 weeks. I said that would be fine. If they were rescheduling the appointment I would assume I would be given a new time and date. The original day arrives, my husband arranged to be home. The agreed time comes and goes. I call because the consultant hasn’t arrived. I am told that the 2 week follow up was a rescheduled appointment because they don’t do quotes. They want to give the last one after we have spoken to all the other companies out there. The telephone consultant wouldn’t listen, speaking over me to the point that I had to ask her to please listen as I thought I was the customer in this instance. If this is how it all begins without even getting these people in the door - perhaps they should consider whether they have indeed grown “too big” to where they have lost touch with their customers. Terrible communication, a terrible experience. I have just cancelled - not worth it.

These days, its infuriating to deal with unknown calls trying to sell something because of the overly persistent behaviour. Educate your staff on how to better target customers with products and with those who DON’T want them. A shame that this is the lasting impression I have of your company considering how well functioning your roller shutters have been for me and for my parents who have had your shutters (still existing) for over 20 years.

asked. Also installed the wrong inverter which I only realised by accident. When they organised for someone to correct the mistake they didnt show. They put a clause in our contract stating we would get 1/2 price off any more panels we purchase from them. I will pay full price through any other company instead. Ever since then they have been constantly harrassing us with phone calls for additional products. Myself and my wife have told them multiple times to stop. Doesnt matter. Our numbers are on the do not call list. Doesnt matter. Have submitted 2 complaints through the TIO. Doesnt matter. Blocked their Tullamarine numbers.
