lifting, yet they are still very strong and supportive...AND this setting is very easy to clean. Not too big...not too small! Looks very stylish! A little pricey! We didn't want to spend quite so much but after looking at cheaper retail outlets (for other brands with similar settings) this one looked to be the best quality
