Perfect Replacement For Fluro Tubes – These are led lights in the same shape and length as the standard 4' fluorescent tubes and are a drop in replacement with them. LED's don't need the starter so that gets removed and replaced with a fuse (which is included in the box), then the LED clips in just like the fluro tube used to. The main benefit of the LED's over the fluorescent tubes is the speed that they turn on - instant light instead of seizure inducing flickering. The colour is pretty much the same as you would get out of a fluro but of course there are options with the colour temperature that you buy.

Overall, quick and easy replacement for a comparable price as the old technology fluorescent tubes.

Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $11.

Great Value LED Option for Flouro Replacement (even if the Germans make it hard) – I'd been looking for a LED upgrade for flouro tubes; right power/brightness, right colour, right price - turns out they are just sitting on the shelf at Bunnings. They come in a 2-pack, at roughly $10-11 a bulb (which is about 6 months payback if you use them every day). They are easy to install, come with the replacement starter device, and when you turn them on they go on INSTANTLY (so much nicer than the horrible delayed action of flouro tubes), have no flicker and about the same brightness as a 32W tube.

The PROBLEM is OSRAM have assumed a very confusing definition of colour temperature - they call 4000K "cool white" and 6500K "daylight". In most situations 4000K is the more pleasant, warmer light with that perfectly neutral LED colour, and many vendors call this "daylight". "Cool white" usually means that cold blueish colour that you only see in grubby pizza shops and factories. So don't be confused by the naming - OSRAM dont seem to get humanity - if you want the warmer colour you need 4000K "cool white".
