For the price they are great – The ones with RED insert on bottom - are new model sold for $96. The fully black ones (with all same specs - which was tested here in first review) are "old" and now replaced with this new type with RED insert. I do not care about checking for them being of exact capacity, because "old" type is sold for $45 !! Yes, 4 Ah 18 volt with 3 year warranty cost less than HALF a price and no brand can offer even closer price! Got 8 units and for next 3 years I do not care about then holding charge of becoming faulty at all. The only thing - they are on the website, but staff in shop "forget" that they have them in stock - use preorder.

Purchased in at Bunnings Warehouse for $45.

Capacity is over-rated but otherwise fine – These batteries are claimed to be 4.0Ah capacity. I tested two of them - both date code 2019/11 - on a battery load tester, at 1A and 5A discharge currents from fresh off the charger to when the battery's inbuilt Battery Management System (BMS) cut power. Both batteries clocked in at 3.8 Ah give or take 0.05Ah. Interestingly there was no capacity change between the two load currents which is a positive indicator of good quality (low impedance) cells.

I also tested the 3.0Ah version (date code 2020/03), that came in at 2.8 Ah. Given that Ozito takes pains to label these to two significant figures, e.g. "4.0Ah" and "3.0Ah", then either a) I've got three for three slightly dud batteries, or b) Ozito is outright fibbing, or c) Ozito's marketing department is scientifically illiterate and figures "4.0" sells better than "4"

I know which option my money's on.

Other than being "optimistically" labelled they seem fine, reasonably well built with rubberised plastic to prevent them sliding around too much. They measure around 20.7V straight off the charger, and around 14.9V at disconnect. They have a three-bar LED display that shows approximate state of charge when a button is pressed. The 4.0Ah batteries weigh 661 and 663g, the 3.0Ah 638g.

(a note on my little test jig: I hacked a Ozito USB adapter; the green and yellow wires you can see in the pic are soldered directly to the battery input terminals; there's more than enough room within the USB adapter to do this without disturbing the USB adapter function)
