AC mode does not work – AC detection mode is completely unreliable. If rather trust the flip of a coin. Very disappointed in this product! Show details

Utterly useless – This product was purchased primarily for its live wire detection, which simply does not work. It will detect live wires when scanning over a window, but finds nothing when used directly over a live GPO. Show details

Pretty much useless – I have a number of Ozito tools and was quite happy with their quality. So I decide to give this Ozito 50mm Stud Finder a try. I was following instruction manual. First step is to put finder to a wall where you expect to have no studs and prime it by pressing the button and waiting until it emits 3 beeps. This process should be done before each… Read more

scan, so as soon as you hear beeps, you start moving finder on the wall and it will show studs on the screen and also emit another beep. Priming should be repeated every 60 seconds or pretty much each scan. For me the priming process takes about 3 minutes. I physically can't hold the button pressed for so long without changing my hands. Then if you are lucky it emits those 3 beeps and you start moving the finder horizontally. Approximately after 15-20 cm it finds something, and it doesn't matter if there is any stud under the wall. Then you repeat same 3 minutes priming process and search another time with the same result. Returned it to Bunnings and bought another finder of other brand.

Don’t bother – Bought this unit after leaving my old trusty stud finder in another state. Thinking this thing would be super trustworthy. Well sadly it’s not....... False readings everywhere. So it’s back to Bunnings tomorrow for a refund...... Don’t waste your time Show details

too many false positives – I checked more than 5 times and then I was confident I had the stud. I drilled a hole, not stud, a bit to the left, no stud, a bit to the right and still no stud. I tried a different line just in case I was getting a horizontal stud but that didn't work either. I will never purchase ozito again. Show details

10% hit rate – Not my first stud finder but when my old one broke I thought id try this one. The edge of the stud is the edge of the unit not the point of the arrow. More frustrating though, is the fact it goes off in random places on the wall when there is no stud there at all making it very hard to trust. (yes its calibrated first) I have had to patch to many drill holes. I would not recommend this unit. splash out and get something more reliable. Show details

Absolutely useless – The device doesn't work at all. Cannot calibrate 90% of time. Cannot find stud or wire in their real location and randomly beeping around when there are 100% no studs or wires. Absolutely useless device. Show details

Excellent unit – I use this unit to replace my old Stanley stud finder, as the Stanley was rather old and had become unreliable. Firstly it does locate the studs however it can be a little difficult to read. I suggest clamping some timber under a see through table so you can get a better Idea. Mine shows the edge of the stud from the side of the unit. This was a… Read more

little confusing at first because I kept missing the studs as I thought the unit was showing the centre of the stud, as my old Stanley had, and was just inaccurate and useless. But nope, it’s the edge and you have to move a little further inwards. After I worked out that I was the useless and incompetent tool I get the studs guaranteed every time now.

Easy to use but not that reliable – I bought this because it had fairly good reviews elsewhere compared to other stud finders. While it is not difficult to use, it seems to lose its way when you sweep back, constantly telling me its found more studs when it hasn't. When you use it, you have to calibrate it which is not hard to do. Usually the first pass will give the right… Read more

reading but the others are rubbish - so you need to start over, and over and over when using it to find the one stud. You will often find the leading edge to a stud but not the 'other side' unless you start a new sweep from the other side (after calibrating again).

That said, I have always found the studs I was after so can't say that it doesn't work ... it's just that it's not that good.

Without knowing what the other ones are like, I'd suggest you try them over this one - although it is hard to beat on price.
