Can you replace the trimmer head on the Ozito LTR 301 & what are the steps to follow?
I would like to know too ... initial teardown seems to indicate that this is not possible. Mine smashed into quite a few pieces (not just the replaceable part) when I hit some rock in the bushes.
How does the automatic line feed work?
The motor makes noise but doesn't run. I was trimming ok until it started raining. Can the motor be restiored?
How do you change the wire on this product?
Pat I use a thicker fluro green Victor trimmer replacement cord from Bunnings and simply thread it through the two holes in the black spool and cut the ends so its not too long, It has worked well. The handle on mine snapped months ago and is taped up to hold it together until the end of Jan when the whole thing will go in the bin!
Contrary to advice from Bunnings staff, you are not supposed to refill the spool yourself but buy a replacement spool @$7 a go. Mine worked better when I did reload myself, it was a thicker gauge and didn't break with every weed it hit, just every second. Lol.
Well, Bunnings can go to buggery. This thing eats all its trimmer line in one session so I pull it apart and replace the line myself. Then one of the retaining tabs on the spool cover snapped off. Bunnings said they'd have to order the part in, bollocks to that, so I drilled a hole in the spool cover and used a cable tie to fasten it to the trimmer head through the opening the retainer tab usually sits. Worked a treat. Planned obsolescence indeed.
I have had no such problems with the cord, I have kept it to 1.5 mm cord and it worked brillemtly and bought replacement cord at same 1.5 mm 15 metres for $5. I just attacked a weedy over grown yard with plenty of obstacles that would normally break my 3mm Petrol 2 stroke one's cord where I was continually replacing the 3mm cord where I had to stop it and insert cord strips in every time. The auto cord release is brilliant and works extremely well. I now have a theory that the smaller cord is less prone to breaking as it isn't so ridged at the exit point of spool giving some leeway to absorb harsh impact or sudden sharp obstacles. All I know is where I used to stop previously with my $360 big brand petrol jobbie this did the whole Job without me once having to stop for cord breakage which speaks volumes and save me time and frustration. But I do subsribe to "Yoda" saying of "do or do not there is no in between" when it comes to applying the trigger finger which I believe avoids going through cord. So remember "Luke, use the force ... and keep "on" button depressed! (Spoken in obi kenobi voice) just don't rev it like you do a petrol one as it only serves to release cord and is pointless exercise with an electric one - there is no fuel to waste on this baby nor glorious noise effects in doing so - hope this helps. I am really happy and impressed with mine. I actually manually replace it buy replacement cord 1.5mm I got 15 metres $5 Bunnings just follow instruction manual it's very easy to do.
