Hi Tina, This model unfortunately is not a smart TV. You can attach 3rd party devices such as Apple Tv/Chrome Cast and that will allow you to use your unit like a smart tv.

guess this is my 50" TV - had a look at a manual - external link  nothing about red light blinking - if I use my remote to turn off the TV and press the same Power button again within the first few seconds the red light at the bottom centre of the TV will blink twice rapidly - while it's in software shutdown stages. After that it just turns the TV on normally.

sounds like a transient power loss - ? check your remote batteries ? check for loose connections/reseat all your power plugs - check the cat or possums haven't eaten your cables ?

timely question - I looked last night at the HDMI socket on the TV considering whether a Chromecast 2 would work - the TV does not have a USB socket for powering the Chromecast but I believe I can just use a standard 240V plug to USB cable to power it

so not yet tried - but about to buy a Chromecast on special - so I'm believing it should work - maybe not for everything - but enough to make it worthwhile.

Netflix is not a standard application on this model however, if you add an external device for example: Apple TV, then you can access applications like netflix and espn etc. using the existing HDMI connection on your television.

Note: Only smart tv's have the options for applications. Since this is not a smart tv, it can therefor not run applications.

No you cannot record, you will need to get an external recorder.

My TV was 18 moths old & panansonic paid for parts I paid for labour. There is a faulty component that had to be replaced $500 worth. Labour $200.

Else buy a new TV as they are cheap & have a warranty
