Door takes at 20 sec to open my dog is confused by this.No timer adjustment for door to open very disappointed with this product a waste of money

OK, but noisy and not cat proof – Petsafe Electronic SmartDoor (Large) Good points: -Seals well to keep the wind out Bad points: -Unlocks with a loud bang that frightens the dog. Took months of training to get her used to it. -Takes 15 seconds to start closing. Our cats eventually worked this out and started escaping. The loud bang at unlocking alerts them from anywhere in the house. -The low battery alert is a very slow flash that’s not easily noticed.
Conclusion: Could work well if you’re not also trying to keep cats contained. I recommend making a three sided wooden box to fit the door into for the training. That makes it easier to coax the dog through with treats, and if you find the dog just won’t do it, you haven’t made a huge hole in your wall or door for nothing. The product could be improved by reducing the unlocking noise, and having a customisable relocking time.
Purchased in at Pet Circle for $270.
Not so Smart door – The PetSafe Smart Door worked for about two weeks then nothing. The lights flash as they are supposed to but the door will not respond to the Smartkey. I tried re-programming it as per instruction manual but still nothing.
