Philips SatinShave Prestige

I should have trusted the first review! – I just bought the unit few hours ago and was so excited to use it when I got home. Unfortunately, as what the first reviewer stated, I have to go through the same area OVER AND OVER with no avail. There's no way that this $119 unit I just got from Shavershop be this bad, but yes it is. I used a $50 Remington bought from 2016 and it just died… Read more
yesterday. Thinking of "upgrading", I picked this unit out of few cheaper other brands like Braun or even Remington again but it's the worst decision I made.
Will I be able to return it back to Shavershop as "used and faulty"?
By far the WORST (and most expensive!!!) electric women’s shaver I’ve ever owned! – I have owned about 3 women’s electric shavers in my time, I’m currently in my early 40’s so clearly they go the distance. I’ve also never spent more than $50-$60 on buying one of reputable brand. Yesterday I treated myself to a brand new one at our local “The Shaver Shop” intended as an early Christmas present on behalf of hubby. It’s what I… Read more
wanted, a new shaver having not had a new one in about 10 years now.
After checking out the 10 or so products on offer, I decided upon the “Philips SatinShave Prestige” for $99. I didn’t know what the difference was between this one and the one right beside it also of Philips brand which looked exactly the same but was something like $79 or $89. The model I chose came with “trimmer” accessories so I went with it.
I went into the store not wanting to spend $100 on a shaver, but I also conceded that given it had been 10 or so years since I had last bought an electric shaver, they were going to have increased in price.
I own many Philips branded products and like to be loyal to the brand depending on the product as it’s generally been a reliable brand for our household.
The same cannot be said for this pathetic quality electric shaver! I have never before used such a poor performing one in all my life! It misses a lot, you find yourself going over and over the same areas with next to no improvement in hair removal. It’s labour intensive for what a shaver should be. I am disgusted by its lack of performance.
In comparison, a $49 Remington electric shaver o bought on a ferry in Ireland 18 years ago is 100x the shaver this one is.
The few accessories that come with this shaver feel flimsy and just poor quality overall. Cheap nasty plastic that feels like it could snap ever so easily in its normal use of the shaver.
I can honestly say I have never had to return a product of a “personal use” type before, but this one I cannot wait to return for a full refund.
Before buying this product, don’t be fooled into thinking the most expensive one on display is the best. Seriously, in hindsight, a few of its half price competitors sitting beside on the shelf yesterday are probably far more superior going by my own history and experiences in buying these products.
I was honestly expecting a WOW level of hair removal; a silky smooth to the touch after feeling (they do after all call this model “SatinShave Prestige”); and all done with a simple, easy glide over the skin on my part. Not my experience! I have parts of my legs that still have hair that just didn’t get captured that I’ve had to shave with a disposable razor; the parts it did capture aren’t smooth; and my hand is sore from trying to apply varying amounts of reasonable pressure just to get the blades to do their one job... shave off my leg hairs!
I really cannot wait to get a refund on this appalling quality shaver as it has absolutely not met its simplest, most basic of outcomes. It has one job to do and it failed it miserably.
A great close chave – I have used many shavers over the years and this seems to go above and beyond them all. A very close shave so I don't have to re do for longer than I normally would have to. Easy to use, great instructions and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Show reply
